About This Video:
In this Cinema 4D Tutorial, Chris Schmidt will show you three different advanced tricks in XPresso to help you make more advanced rigs and tools. He talks about the condition node, the memory node, and a special setting called "On". We start the XPresso rig from scratch as together we will build controls to be able to instantly swap out any number of different objects. In this example we will be creating a chair rig that allows for easy additions later.

This was extremely helpful in so many different ways. I need to rewatch this and take some notes. Liked that you not strictly sticked to expresso and shed some light on other little things like the little variation of those stools. Thanks, subscribed!

Would 100% be interested in more Xpresso tutorials. There's simply not enough out there, and it's absurdly powerful.

Great job covering xpresso, people need to see just how powerful it is. Its literally a houdini vopsop inside c4d, I think MAXON should promote this aspect more often.

I really hope you guys have more views on the site, cause this stuff is ridiculously useful yet nobody seems to watch these videos.

Motion design is a niche market! 3000 views in a day is great. We'll never compete with cat videos.

Great tutorial, thanks! I'm a little confused about how the condition works. The memory node compares the current state of the radio button selection to the previous selection, and if a new selection is made the states are different, therefore the instance is On. But isn't the memory node referencing only the history of the radio buttons? It seems like it would always be different, since a state change is the only thing being tested, and the only action "remembered" is a state change, so "different?" would always be true. In other words, I don't get how the comparator would get "they're the same" without selecting, say, the Stool button and then selecting the Stool button again (which you can't do with radio buttons).

Thanks Chris, That was a great tutorial. What was that "Progressive Render" you did at the end when you had the chairs set up? Are you using Arnold or is that a new R18 feature?
@Greyscalegorilla
@Greyscalegorilla 7 лет назад
Progressive is a "mode" in Physical Renderer under the Physical tab in the render settings!

Greyscalegorilla Thanks. I looked that up and saw how old it was. I'm going to request Arnold or Octane at work but still haven't decided. I will watch have to watch your comparison video again.
