I can get up and down from a full squat easily but didn't realize that I couldn't get up from sitting cross-legged (with butt on the floor) without my hands. After a few tries I barely did it.

My favourite bit was literally “Nobody eats low-carb in this house”! Thank you! I started weight training a year ago and I feel so good. Just done a deadlift with more than my body weight for the first time while watching this. My hamstring flexibility has increased with almost zero yoga in that time through strength training!

I love your videos. As an 85 yr old gal; I am in pt and trying to get stronger. Eventually my insurance will cut me off, so I'm glad you're there. Getting up off the floor is a goal but right now, I'm trying to stand up from a chair without using my hands. Please make video showing how you teach this. Thank you. Lynn

I clicked here because your voice and demeanor are very soothing primarily and because of the three exercises in the beginning; lastly yet equally important because of your humor. I am able to do all three exercises in the beginning of the video. I stumble and wobble a little getting up with no hands so I’ll continue practicing all of them. Thank you very much; btw, I’ll turn seventy five in April 😊😊😊 Many Blessings to you and your family.❤

I'm 80 years old with fibromyalgia. I can touch my toes and Asian squat (but have to pull myself back up). The easiest way for me to get up off the floor is go into downward dog, then just roll upright. Your son is very fortunate to have such an agile and active father to set an example for him. So many parents just take to the couch and tv and let their kids figure it out on their own. You mentioned your family is not low carb (how refreshing in this day of keto) and I would love to see how you eat to stay slender and active. Thanks for all you do.

With fibromyalgia you definately need to keep your blood suger levels low and not into the pre diabetes range as the toxins attacks your tendons and muscles which increases the pain response... Just found this out for myself as I am struggling with repeated tendonitis, prediabetic and have now been diagnosed with Chronic Pain Disorder. Therefore I am doing a low carb diet and starting to feel a bit better. And yes your FM can get a lot better. My husband recovered from ME after seeing a good medical doctor who specialised in nutrition.

Matt, I just love you! I've just turned 68 and have NEVER been fit, ever. My father had some crazy notion that we would get hurt if we ran and so forth so we were forbidden and would actually get punished if we played and fell or something (no joke), I'm single my whole life, no children and as I am aging, that lack of moving has really taken a toll. I'm afraid to be put into a home where no one really cares for you and you just waste away and die. BUT, I don't believe that my age should keep me from being my best even now. You are so encouraging to me and I need that. I have subscribed and just became a dues paying member today. I am absolutely determined to be in the best shape of my life and I want to live into my 90's if at all possible and not just be breathing but be moving around and as self-sufficient as possible. I loved the stories you just shared and I'm so ready to be one of them. Thank you so much for what you do and I'm glad to support you and your channel because if you don't have health, you just don't have anything. Looking forward to totally surprising myself and being the miracle that I know I can be.

I am a 63 year old yoga teacher. I have been teaching yoga now for 20 years. I've had to cut back, from 10 classes per week to 7 classes, but I do these movements almost every day. My youthfulness compared to my peers is astonishing. Your approach is spot on, and I really appreciate your enthusiasm and encouragement. Looking forward to seeing if I'm able to do these well. I've been working on complete mobility since Jan this yr. I was laid up 24/7 in a bed for over 5.5 years. I watched life pass me by as I became laid up at almost 37 yrs old. I am 43 now. I not only learned how to walk again but I also can now jump, run, squat, and so on. I was 208 lbs when I started and I am currently 130 lbs. I weight lift which Def has helped me not only regain muscle but build it and make it stronger. I am in the best shape of my life and feel amazing. I am determined to never be back in a position where I am helpless and missing out on what is important. I'm determined to continue my progress and become even healthier. I do not diet I just am smarter with how I eat. I have done tons of research but I must say I absolutely love your videos. So many people are unclear and uneducated in how Lil it takes to stay healthier. Doctors are full of it if they just push medicines and say you can't. I'm living proof. I love the saying " where there's a will there's a way". Keep up the great videos!! You are truly appreciated!

I'm only 30 and I've been on a calisthenic workout journey for over a year now and I have a better body now than in my 20's and teens. Everyone in my family is the definition of not giving a crap about health and physical fitness and they are all headed towards a future in a nursing home to be treated and cared for like infants. I refuse to let that be my fate and that's why I'm interested in anything that can slow the degradation of the aging process!

My biggest fear is that I will be the one taking care of my kids into my old age because they refuse to be active in any way. I'm heading to 63 and to see my young adult children (20's - 30's) so out of shape is scary. My sister calls them "Pod Children" because they're afraid that fresh air and sunshine will kill them!
@hunterthewerewolf
@hunterthewerewolf 9 месяцев назад
@cmorrison5466 I don't know what needs to happen, but they really need to get their crap together and see how important it is to be in shape. I hope they get the kick in the pants they need to see that whatever form it may come in.
@cmorrison5466
@cmorrison5466 9 месяцев назад
@@hunterthewerewolf True this! What's just as scary is that all their friends are the same way (plus obesity on top of inactivity). It's a double whammy for these young adults. My kids are all on the thinner side so at least they have a chance at improving their health more quickly if they chose to do so. This younger generation is doomed if they don't get their butts off the couch and get moving while they're able.

I follow you bc you are knowledgeable and teach us in bite sized chunks, and in a very user friendly way! Plus, you are hilarious & make me laugh a lot which is also very helpful! I was a massage therapist for 6 years so that knowledge is helpful with knowing my body as well as assessing exercises that are beneficial for upgrading my level of day to day function and quality of life. I’m 58 and have been active all of my life - I’m a mover and LOVE movement. To me movement is LIFE! I have a twist between about L2 & my tailbone that causes a lot of anterior pain in my left hip as well as pain in my low back and Iliopsoas regions. And, the last couple of years it’s harder for me to get up off the floor without using my hands so that really gets my attention! And my right knee bothers me from an injury during Covid lockdown. I’ve had several sports related injuries up & down my entire spine during my lifetime but I’m working to avoid surgeries & medications! Thanks for all of your top notch videos! They really do help me move smarter and more freely! Happy Thanksgiving no low carb eating family! 😂🦃🍁🍽 🥧

Matt! What do you say to people who say their new knee replacements or hip replacements don’t let them bend their knees to squat!? I hear this from friends of mine! Is it true, or is there a lot more they could be doing? Thank you so much!!! PS, I was creating all kinds of excuses for not going on my walk today of 1 to 2 miles. My dog-pal Gracie who was my walking companion for 14 years, passed a couple of months ago. I don’t have the incentive to walk as I did when she was around. However, after listening to you reading comments from other people, I was inspired to get my shoes on and get out there! I am 38, I went to go play paintball a few years ago, much like I did when I was a teenager and in my 20s and I found out I couldn't really crouch behind bunkers, I couldn't really run between the bunkers, and after a bit just holding the paintball gun loaded up with paint and an air tank was really hard for me. I tried just going back and doing it more, but I realized I was trying to take on too much and just ending up sore and in pain so I went down a fitness rabbithole. I have dramatically increased my mobility, speed, strength, and muscle mass and I feel like I am 20 again. So this has made me very interested in seeing how far I can take this because I don't want to decline again, I want to be 90 running around and having fun still.

Because I’ve noticed how quickly I’ve aged in the last 3 years. I’m 51 and after breaking my elbow, the pandemic and being hospitalized for Covid, and drastically declining youth hormones, I’m in bad shape. I’ve aged 15 years! I love your humor, calm voice and the way you keep saying take it easy and go slow. I appreciate the hard work that it took to get you where you are. The MOST helpful thing is putting a “follow along” link at the end of the video for whatever it was you just educated us on. Learn the movement, then DO the movement. I’m MUCH more likely to do what you’re teaching if you are right there with me, holding my hand 😊

But dietary changes helped me so much, as did a change in my exercise choices and duration. Doing 10 to 20 minutes at a time at most, spread out throughout the day as a form of grownup recess, lol. Cardio, stretches, resistance exercises, breathwork like Breath of Fire. Turned this ship around, lol. I hope you find your balance and radiant energy again too! ❤

Hi. You saved my life. Thanks. I guess you probably hear that all the time. I was pretty nearly crippled five months ago, my wife was my crutches, couldn't sit, couldn't stand, couldn't lay down without continuous, strong, aching pain. I followed your programs. I guess I have IT band syndrome caused by trying to get into jogging after having been sedentary for too long. Just wanted to say that. I'm pretty close to pain-free now; very livable, hopefully another month or two and it'll be a wrap; not including the future lifetime of staying mobile to prevent this nightmare hell from descending on me again. Owe you my life.

Thanks for this information. I have an important question. I am living in Mexico where the sidewalks are crazy and there are many steps all over the place. The consequences are that I have tripped a number of times and fallen directly on my knee caps very hard. I used to do Asian squats every day, not as an exercise but because I like to sit that way. But since these falls, I can only get down by holding onto something and getting up is very painful and there’s no way I could do those exercises you are doing without hands, which I could have easily done before the falls. I’ve done a bunch of research online and it appears that I have patellofemoral syndrome. Would pushing myself to do these exercises make this particular problem worse or better? Thank you very much.

I've had respiratory issues on and off since my teen years. It's very helpful to do breathing exercises like breath of fire, sitali pranayama, etc. Makes a huge difference for me. Doing cardio as well, and strength training. Dietary shifts can ease some of that burden as well. Nothing is worse than when you can't breathe. I'm sorry you wrestle with that. ❤

I have been watching you for quite a while. I also watch Amanda Esmonde White. She also talks about aging backwards and I am 76 years old and I have flexor problems and I am constantly searching for good advice and good practice. I take a ballet class once a week which is probably not enough but I watch you when your stream comes up and I watch Amanda and I try to do my best to stay flexible, I’m in better shape than I was a couple years ago when I quit taking amoxicillin and meloxicam and I’ve been doing what I can to stay flexible with all your stretches and all your tutelage and I thank you so much

Clicked on this video because I'm subscribed & I watch every video you make but this one just stood out to me. I turned 60 this past October, I've worked out off & on from the age of 16. I see a difference some good, other movements need to be better. My mother is 85 & has been tied to a walker since the age of 79 & that I use as inspiration NOT to happen to me. I use your videos as guidance and a tool so thank you for thinking of people who are a bit older!

I stopped into your video because of two reasons: 1) I am 62 years old and I went to an orthopedic for pain in my hip last year and it took eight months for this Doctor to tell me “ you need hip clean out for arthritis. With a second opinion - chiropractor and he said your hip is out of the socket. And he corrected my hip and pain. Hmmmmm- why does a Doctor of 25 years wants to cut, but not tell me that my hip was dislocated ?? 2) my knee out of nowhere became stiff today while laying a vinyl floor. My knee is not swollen and I’ve been laying this floor all week. Once I stand up I must first straighten my knee before walking again. I am ready for suggestions.

Greetings from NYC Matt. I am new to your channel and I am loving your straightforward and positive and fun energy. I like all these moves. I do the Asian squat almost every day. I am 65. I was always in great shape. I stopped exercising about six years ago, and my muscle tone has depleted. I’m going to look into your other videos and practice standing up in a variety of ways. That’s going to strengthen me a lot. Thank you so much.

Kind of dissapointed. Thought these r exercises that I’m not aware off To me it’s not a problem/ I’m always in x this squat position 😅cleaning floor / floors etc Easy Second one even easier No problem for me to touch my toes or hands on the floor Hmm So now I’m wondering why I’m constantly constipated / According to u I shouldn’t b I know that my colon is damaged due to high doses of antibiotics Maybe genetics 🧬 too The last one Sadhuru said to practice this If u can’t stand up from the floor without hands it means that ur not in a good health / shape This I can’t do Need a hand But I don’t think you should tell anyone especially here that ur sick and u will die in a FEW YEARS!! It’s not true. I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT U SAID THAT!! You r scaring some people to death 💀 that they will die with such a program in their subconscious!! 😢😳🥹🙁 Change THIS theory of yours My husband has AS he can’t bend / he can’t exercise due to AS and is still alive after 35 years I bet so many can’t stand up and r living and WILL NOT DIE ARE U A DOCTOR I’m really upset !! Really u got me mad / I will never ever believe from now on what people r saying what is healthy for u What to eat for brain Just like an ice on the face and your capillaries r destroyed!!!!! SO DISSAPOINTED SHocked !!!!! I’m so angry now Will cool down Great lesson I’m not even will believing the best GURU ON THIS PLANET Sadhuru said that 2 spoons of honey for 9 days in warm water / and his words I guarantee you 90 percent of your diseases will b gone Such a lie…… 🤥🤥🤥🤥🤥

Very nice. Thank you! Matt, did you know you can improve your vision also doing eyes exercises so you don’t need the reading glasses anymore? 😊 I learned with Tatiana Gebrael, she’s an eye therapist from Brazil with over 20 years experience, she’s amazing! She has videos in English as well. 😉 she thinks just like you when it comes to aging. Our eyes also need exercises. Most vision problems are nothing more than just tight or weak muscles around the eyes disturbing the ocular globe. Check her out. 🙌💕 Btw, I sent the neck exercises video to two of my clients and one wrote me back thanking me for sharing because she loved your video! 😊 ❤

Not low carb....YET. The ideal range for fasting INSULIN levels is (2-8). If your level is over 25, you are diabetic. That's OK because most American doctors don't care to check that marker. There's a big range between a healthful eight and diabetes and most people live into their 50's before the hyperinsulinemia produces such deleterious effects to realize a change in diet is beneficial. Or you could get your fasting insulin levels tested before you've done decades of damage and track which direction it's trending. But then what will you do in your 50's and 60's if you don't follow the normal people trend?

I'm 66 and totally rigid, I have bad balance, but I can touch my toes. I have no strength in my legs. Well I found the reason. I do have arthrosis in my spine and some other bones. I do take D3 vitamin. But I had bad bed. And bad sleeping positions - I had severe pains all over the body, but MR did not show that severe situation, because it shows the bones, not the muscles. I must have had terrible situation with consistent cramped muscles. I went to physiotherapy and they gave me some exercises, but they were really painful for me. I needed stick for walking. Than I started thinking: I changed my computer chair, than I changed my bed, than I supported my spine when watching TV and pain was decreasing. But my muscles are weak now. Now I will start with stretching and strength exercises. And I hope I will get better. Thank you for your ideas.

To answer your question about why I clicked on this video: I am 57 and have been sitting in a chair for work for over 30 years. Not much physical activity besides walking (I do a couple of miles a day or more with the dogs). Had a motorcycle crash a few years ago and since then my mobility and flexibility has been pretty terrible. I need to get moving again. Thanks for doing these videos, new subscriber here.

Why? Because I sustained a severe traumatic brain injury nine years ago. Very athletic and fit at the time. Now at 64 with nine years of disability or physical compromise, I am scared, anxious, and depressed. Exercise was my anti-depressant, anti-anxiety prior to injury. A recent fall has set me back again. A couple fractured ribs, and badly bruised shoulder. Ouch, and frustrated. Discouraged is an understatement. Thanks, and help.

I’m getting up to 50 and I’m seeing it’s use it or lose it. And getting it back after you lose it sounds painful 😂. I’m good on the squats but the other two not so much. I think there’s more hope of getting up from the floor with practice but I’m doubtful of reaching my toes without bending my knees ever. I’ve been doing some stretches for jogging and they seem to help prevent injury but my range doesn’t improve much 😂
