Bro I’m 52 and just getting started. I Love It! It’s relaxing. I always loved music and dancing. It will probably be a long time before I would think of charging anyone to DJ but I have a greater respect for what every DJ does and the commitment they have made! Hi all. Another fun scratch to try is called the drill. It’s basically a very fast scribble. Just tense your arm & move the record really fast. It works great with a kick or snare drum to get the drilling sound!

I’m starting my journey into scratch madnesses today!! I will stay by mastering these three technics

1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and ....1 e and ugh 2 e and ugh 3 e and ugh 4 e and ugh. Helps me to say the rhythms for 8th and 16th notes. I’m a bass player trying to learn to scratch. Thanks for the awesome tutorial!!

Always thought it was easier and less confusing to put the tape marker @ 9 o'clock where your hand would start, letting it go and following the marker pulling it back to the beginning position.

This is both dope and sick.

He's working with 3 audio sources, his mic, turntable and whatever the beat is coming from. If you can't understand why he would need to constantly readjust these throughout the video you'll never succeed in mixing. He wants his voice to be clear as possible when instructions are the most important part of a section, yet lesser when the scratch is more important to hear clearly. throw in the beat and things get adjusted yet again, then back when it goes to instructions only. this is done mainly by ear, not by looking at the line on the knob etc. and some of us are never fully happy with a given mix and tend to twiddle things more than necessary. Be the one constantly wondering if you can make what your doing better, NOT the one constantly picking at how others do things...

Please, what is the difference between scratching on a dj controller like the Numark Mixtrack Pro FX and a Technics SL 1200? I know that the jog doesn't make the movement back, so in this case I have to do this movement on the controller?

Hey, is the drag skratch what you would use when doin your 1-Click Flares, & 2-Click Flares? I've been practicing those lately, & it seems very close to the hand movements im making,when pulling off the 1 or 2 Click Flares.lol......bahaha... just curious brotha. I gotta practice that today, those 3 basic skratches are wicked important, as far as hand movements go, it all kinda wraps itself together, I think I'm starting to click with certain aspects of skratching finally.
