I was watching your video and trying to copy what you were doing as the video played but it just didn't sound the same. iv always been really good at scratching since the 90s Hardcore scene, then stupid me just noticed that you were scratching with the deck in reverse. you should show people how to do it the right way round then they can choice to do it back to front if it suits them.
@studioscratches
@studioscratches 2 года назад
Oh yes I did put a note in the video description but usually that gets missed. In my tutorials I break things down very slowly in terms of open and closed fader so both styles can follow along. I cannot scratch regular as I have always scratched this way in reverse like an upfader. Appreciate you watching!

Peace fam,dope as always.The raw authentic hip-hop over here ALWAYS.I was in your neck of the woods this past May.I stayed in Kensington walking distance from Kensington gardens and Hyde Park, stunning family.I remember seeing footage many years ago of Eric Clapton’s crew Cream performing at Hyde park.So it was dope to see it in person.Kensington Gardens reminds me of the chronicles of Narnia or some shit lol,so green and beautiful.Sparked a fat ass J there,then hopped in a cab to the Chelsea vs. Watford match.Dope ass times as well there. I was Trippin on London’s public transportation as well.So convenient! Took the Heathrow express to the Paddington station when I first arrived.Such a better alternative than just ubering or 🚕 it from Heathrow.Only did four days in London because I’ve visited seven European countries in a three week span.I’ll definitely be back in the near future though.Europe is ILLL.1 Love/Peace/Bless

@pookiefromtheheights1109 5 лет назад
why would you want to show an advanced fader setting in a "beginner" video.. hamsters are very advanced unless your ambidextrous and the opposite of a starter technique is just easier to control and concept👎... usually try to begin at the "Beginning".
@tesko_1
@tesko_1 5 лет назад
it's not any more advanced than regular style, it just depends on which way you originally learned how to scratch. if you learned hamster, then you will find regular really difficult. it's just like skating: goofy stance doing switch tricks is hard af but nothing for a regular skater. and really, none of this matters - the fader goes on and off, thats all, it doesn't matter which direction 'off' is.
@dooshmasta
@dooshmasta 5 лет назад
Only thing bad about this is the hamster. Probably super confusing for beginners.
@vibez_kru01
@vibez_kru01 5 лет назад
DOOSH MASTA yeah, I should have read through the comments because I’ve said the same thing. It’s not the best way to introduce scratching to a beginner. If it was explained at the start of the video then fair enough, but not everyone will start out with a mixer that might have a reverse switch, or buttons to assign the fader channels. It’s ok for those of us who have been Dj-ing/scratching for years...we know what’s going on. This also wouldn’t help when beginners also want to learn beat juggling too.

Common beginner mistakes - skipping the fundamentals and going too fast. Mistakes I still make - being impatient. Fav scratches - chirps. Hardest - all of them to start with then they get easier. Why do you guys always do your ‘basic’ scratch tutorials with the fader Hamster/reverse? A beginner is probably going to have their turntables set up so that the fader 🎚 plays the left deck when pushed to the left and vice versa.
@studioscratches
@studioscratches 5 лет назад
Because that's the way I learned from the beginning and my regular style scratching skill is non existent. See my article / video www.studioscratches.com/hamster-reverse-vs-regular-scratching/ and www.studioscratches.com/how-to-learn-from-a-hamster-reverse-crossfader-style-scratch-dj-if-you-scratch-regular/ to help beginners who want to learn who are regular.
@vibez_kru01
@vibez_kru01 5 лет назад
Thanks for the reply although I think the links should be embedded in the description to benefit beginners, so as to minimise any confusion to them. Even the Thud Rumble guys are guilty of this too. I noticed in the Vol 1 of the Q-Bert DVD he does the same even though he explains how the faders position corresponds to the turntable it is nearest! I hope you didn’t take my comment the wrong way,. It wasn’t meant as a dig at you, it’s just there are very few tutorial videos for beginners that teach the ‘basic’ scratches with the fader normal. I would guess that those same beginner Dj’s will want to learn beat juggling at some point, then they’ll have to get their heads around why every other Dj has the fader normal for that! I’ve been Dj-ing since 86 when there weren’t any tutorials and you had to guess how the Dj’s were doing certain scratches! I know the struggle...it’s real! 👊🏾
