It's a good deal if you want a house in the wilderness. With a total population of less than 140 people, Kingman isn't exactly NYC. The realtor undersold the actual dwelling in typical Maine fashion. It has obviously had blown in insulation along with the heat pump because otherwise, there is no way on earth that you are getting by on half a tank of oil for 2 whole seasons. That's insane! A typical house in Northern Maine is going to use 3 entire tanks of oil and a brand new, highly efficient house will use 1.5 - 2 conventional tanks. The replacement windows must also be double paned. That "mobile home" is sealed tighter than a space capsule. Unfortunately, it's in the middle of absolute nowhere. 😢

I'm trying to determine how I might best maximize my housing $$$$... of course, silly me, how 'bout a 30, (THIRTY!) year old mobile home. EEE GADS. (I checked written property description looking for an actual map overlay of the lot...nothing. Anyone find one that I may have missed?)

Oil usage numbers cited below are per season. Not per 2 seasons as described by the realtor.

Thank you for your time but this is not a good deal. You can buy a new trailer for less than that that doesn't look so outdated. And who needs 10 acres in that town?

Interesting, but I hope they are willing to discount, that home may have years of upgrades, but it’s still a poorly insulated old design.

So you missed the part where she explains how little oil the home uses? She said it doesn’t even use a full tank a season which is pretty much 5 times less than my house. Your comment is that of a fool.

@@Old_rockfish - Wouldn’t be the first time I played a fool, LOL! I heard that comment but I also didn’t hear if they summered in the cabin or lived there all year during winter. It looked like the walls were 2” thick at the window points shown in the video. The standard for hot/cold climates for prefabbed homes is 4”+. Granted this isn’t prefab, this is a mobile home.

Seems to Me as 'tho this IS a good deal. Maine is nowhere near as affordable as it once was...and lnad is ever more important to a Lot of people ! It provides not only privacy but also space to do whatever one wants...including gatherinig plenty of firewood...should one decide to install a nice wood stove ! What I do not yet know is what Kingan is like. I will check into that right now. lol
