We’ve learned a lot about how the human brain works, but there are still new discoveries and mysteries each year, and 2019 was no exception. We learned pretty big things, from internal compasses, to mysterious sniffers, to brain-washing (no, not that kind)!

For science! I’m going through a series of sleep study tests in a few months and am so weirded out by it. I wake up really easily and when I wake up, I am UP. So I don’t really know how they get solid data from me. But I’m waking up every hour or so on good nights. Up to 37 times a night, fully awake enough to log it. I don’t snore. I sleep 10-12 hours a night because the quality is so bad that I need more time. And even then I don’t have energy. I’m always fatigued, as tired when I wake up as I was before I took my pills to go to bed the night before. I doubt they’ll get jack squat from me. But at least I know that people do manage to at least fall asleep on those things. Let’s just hope all the research is used to good effect so things can finally improve!

Amara Jordan I had the same exact thing! I took part in a sleep study and asked for some of the charts to show doctors. Nothing really came of that, unfortunately, but my one doctor had me start taking a med called seraquil (or however you spell it) and it’s pretty much solved the problem. I still am constantly fatigued and need a lot of sleep, but my sleep quality has been a lot better and less stressful since I started it. idk if this helps you at all, but it really helped me so 🤷‍♀️

He isn't thinking but regurgitating a script. It's taking all his mental effort in the struggle to keep coherent and clear articulation as he fights against the strain on enunciation that naturally results of being a mouth-breathing degenerate. He does not blink because he is afraid of messing up; he is trying to squeeze out the script with a similar sense of strain that one might feel in dealing with constipation. Emotional Constipation is only natural byproduct to the unnatural process of mouth-breathing. *Choose Humanity; breathe through your nose.*

4:30- That's not new, back in 2015 or 2016, it was observed that when we sleep, our neurons physically shrink which makes it easier for CSF to flush out the brain's metabolic waste. They've been theorizing this as one of the reasons we sleep and also that a lack of sleep puts one at risk for degenerative diseases like Alzheimer's. The 2019 study just added more proof of this.

I wish I wouldn't hear people say things like "parts of our brain we don't need". I am certain that it is more accurate to say, "parts of our brain that we don't yet understand". 👀🙋‍♀️---> But on a more interesting note: _the sense of smell._ The sense of smell has always intrigued me. My sense of smell is somewhat damaged due to a brain injury, but I notice that certain types of smells register more than others. Now... I can taste the air... or kind of smell with my tongue, but I also notice that some smells seem to register in the soft tissue of the inner parts of my lips, other smells I can sense at the back of my throat, behind the roof of my mouth where it becomes soft tissue, and others around the tonsil area. I can't help but to wonder if there is anything in common here with those who were in the study. OH.. and just for reference, I am not a woman, nor am I left handed, and I severely damage the left frontal lobe of my brain during puberty. I am now in my forties.
