When my husband was diagnosed with lymphoma & put on a punishing chemo regime, the 1st thing we did was address his diet. Since I was already Keto & knew the connection & was prepared to help him make the shift. I believe it was what got him through his treatments. He lost 40 pounds and kept it off & has been able to get back to feeling relatively well. He has a PET scan coming up next month. Fingers-crossed he'll get continued good news.

My oncologist at Rutgers out of the blue told me sugar has nothing to do with cancer and eat what ever I want while going through tx for triple positive breast ca. I had not shared I was fasting before during and after infusion days. I have been down this road prior my own diagnoses with my grandmother, mother and sister so have done deep dives in research, complementary care and very open minded beyond the AMA paradigm. 3 years later, thriving and enjoying life ❤.

I recently talked to my friend, a young radiologist, and he basically told me the same - apparently that’s what they now teach in med schools - that according to research, sugar has nothing to do with cancer, eat what you want, and so on. I was very confused to hear it, because I had cancer years ago, I did the diet during therapy, and I believe the low carb diet helped me to be cured in 6 instead of 8-9 months as was the original prognosis. Cutting down 2 months of chemo is something!! Soo I mean he is a doctor and maybe there is no evidence, but my gut feeling says low carb diet worked for me. Ultimately we agreed that it does no harm, so if I want, I can do the low carb diet next time as well, if it happens. :D

While on chemotherapy my oncologist never one time asked about my diet. Asked if I had an appetite, but never what I ate. I was full blown Keto with very low carbs (less then 10) during my RChop for lymphoma. I was the poster child for NO reactions to any part of the treatment. I firmly believe this contributed to my health during and now after.

My first year of chemo, I didn't have a problem with my dietary needs. My 2nd year was totally different. They gave me that chemical that starts with a 'p.' and I totally lost my appetite. I kept complaining that I couldn't eat anything except sweets and I knew I needed to keep up with nourishment! The ONC and assistants didn't help. I didn't know about keto back then. Now I know -- after the fact -- and I believe "It's never too late." I love this video that can help the afflicted with an offering of HOPE.

As an 18 yr melanoma survivor, outside of diet, I recommend getting a second opinion and ALWAYS trust your gut instinct. The first oncologist I saw wanted me to go through 1 yr of Interfuron treatment, which is Hell, despite all of the cancer being removed at surgery, clean CT & PET scans and my young age. I went for a second opinion and that oncologist agreed to watch and wait, doing CT scans every 3 months for a few years, then every 6 months, until I was officially discharged after 5 years. If I didn't go to that second doctor, my daughter would've never been born. Consequently, I received a letter from the first oncologist's office several years ago stating he was no longer part of the practice and low & behold, he had a financial interest in the treatment center he was so adamant I go to.

First step, Follow the money. Second step, refer to the first step over and over. Third step, always assume your doctor is lying to you until they can provide evidence of what they say is true. I was recently notified that my PC physician at the Veterans Administration Hospital was changed. I tried to change him on my own, but was told, “No. you cant change providers. Unless you have a very good reason.” I listed my reasons… every other reason I gave was that in some manner, the man was a moron. Could not answer any questions. And I was always rushed out of any appointment I had with him as fast as possible. But I guess I deserved all of that. I improved my health in many way. Most notable in curing my diabetes is less than 4 months. That I refused to take statins for any reason. I asked too many damn questions. Hence, I was a trouble maker. The first thing I am going to do when I meet the new PC provider is ask him a simple question. “Can an associative study, prove anything?” Depending on that answer…. Well, we’ll just wait and see what the fallout is.

Hi, great to hear that you were so strong and decisive at such a young age. I’ve had a similar experience- now 5 months cancer free after refusing radical surgery and chemotherapy (I did have successful tumor removal surgery). Honestly stress was the biggest contribution factor, but I have used diet to majorly reduce my eostrogen intake and hopefully that, together with the other naturopathic treatments I’m doing, will keep the big C away. All the best of health and strength to you!

@user-cg3tr6cr5j With the guidance of a holistic doctor; she looked at blood work, all tests related to my cancer, reports, etc, and came up with a treatment plan. This included a complete change in diet, supplements she prescribed, and high dose vitamin C infusion. Treatment began BEFORE surgery and because of this, one mass was killed and the other shrunk by the same size. This saved me from having a breast removed. I rejected ALL conventional treatments.

@user-cg3tr6cr5j This eating protocol was designed specifically for me and my health care needs. It may be counterproductive for others. However, I was only able to eat organic low glycemic vegetables and all meats (but they had to be no nitrates, hormones, pesticides free, etc.). I could have eggs, uncured bacon, cooked with only unpasteurized butter and lard, half medium baked potato OR sweet potato per day, no nuts or seeds (except walnuts, pecans, almonds, and pistachio); they have fungus that encourage cancer growth. Only sweetner: 100% pure organic stevia; only ingredient - stevia leaf. Meals noon and 6pm. Plenty of water and rest. This was on conjunction with high dose vitamin C infusions and prescribed supplements. Low glycemic fruits were added after surgery. Carb intake per day was 50 grams. Edit: Sorry about your mom. 😔

Your advice is very important. My best friend worked in a lab years ago. The techs were treated as if they were in an assembly line with a lot of pressure to process tests for various illnesses such as pap smears or STDs. Some of her co-workers would cheat by marking the tests as negative even though they had not processed the tests so they could improve their production numbers. Other techs would fail to discard dirty test tubes so the next tech might use a dirty test tube. My friend says to question whether a test result is even from your specimen because labs make mistakes.

Great conversation and advice. You mention glucose and insulin quite but what about glutamine. It's also very important according to Dr Seyfried, one of the pioneers in metabolic theory of cancer. This is why fasting, or mimicking fasting is extremely important as part of the therapy and glutamine inhibitors. Dr Seyfried also mentions avoiding biopsies for determining the malignancy of the cancer. Biopsies will kick in the immune cells into action and the cancer can spread. His approach was first see if you can make the cancerous lump smaller by dietary means including fasting and managing stress and sleep. Love how you spoke about hope.

@@joanneclark8256 glutamine producing foods include so many basic foods that's why fasting or fasting mimicking diet is so important as part of the strategy. Some non toxic drugs can help for blocking glutamine metabolism, (leucine, some antibiotics or some dietary supplement like green extract tea called egcg or ashwagandha. But you should have ketones on your body, you must be in a strict ketogenic diet, once you block glucosis pathway you can block glutamine pathway with those drugs. And also, you have to take antidiabetic ( metformin) or another dietary supplement that helps lower glucosis in the blood like alpha lipoic acid. 1200 mg daily. For the drugs that's blocks glutamine unfortunately I don't have doses. But u heard Thomas Seyfried in a interview saying you need very low doses. I know all this things because my mother is faithing a very agressive cancer since 3 years. So we looking for another non conventional. Good look everyone

As a cancer patient, it is essential that you are continuously and sufficiently in ketosis and that you have a low glucose level. As a cancer patient, you have to measure this several times a day in the beginning so that you are sure that you are doing the right thing. Otherwise it could backfire. I can't believe Christy didn't strongly advise this. A ketone breath meter and a CGM meter are then almost necessary.

In Latvia, when I was diagnosed with lymphoma, my oncologyst recommended me to have a very strict diet - no sugar, no processed or fresh food, no bread or similar, basically only boiled vegetables and chicken meat, heart, liver. Low carb basicallly. I guess the logic was to starve cancer cells, and to avoid some natural bacteria or fungus intake by thermally preparing that food, as the body is weak and susceptible during chemo. I followed the diet very strictly. Cancer had expanded through the entire body lymph nodes and was in 3B stage, so prognosis was 8-9 months of chemo. However, I believe because of this diet and maybe some placebo or wishful thinking, I was clean after just 6 months! I am happy that this doctor gave me both - a good chemotherapy and a good diet recommendation!

@Dr.ChristyKesslering Our story is anecdotal but I think it’s worth sharing in case it’s useful even just for one patient. My loved one was diagnosed with Sarcoma last Oct/Nov, an enormous hump at the right flank which literally grew under the eyes. By the time I knew it, it was Dec, I moved over to care for his food and we started measuring the hump. He was 69kg then, already lost a few kgs from the time of diagnosis. On 16/Dec, the hump’s circumference was 47cm, it was very solid and stiff. From then, we started 16-8 (16 hr IF, 8 hr eating window), plenty of Vit C rich fruits/juices & veggies, flaxseed oil, very limited protein, with Vit D/turmeric/probiotics supplements. Tumor continued to grow, 47.5cm on 18/Dec, remained solid while he lost 1kg to 68kg. I was desperate. Then stumbled on some practical info about Ketosis, changed from 22/Dec to HFLC meal plans, eliminated fruits/juices, increased fats intake, protein intake remained low. On 26/Dec, tumor felt less stiff 46.5cm, his weight 67kg. Had a 24hr fasting on 29/Dec. By 31/Dec, tumor was 45cm, weight 65kg, tumor felt undoubtedly softer. Standard care (25 sessions of radiotherapy to be followed by surgical operation) started on 3/Jan. Tumor continued to shrink to 44cm by 10/Jan. Radio oncologist (who could care less about any diet discussions) told him to maintain weight. We were also a bit more relaxed seeing the tumor growth was arrested. He went thru the radiotherapy with basically no side effects. Radiotherapy ended on 6/Feb, tumor was 41.5cm, his weight 64kg. We continued 16-8 HFLC diets with 24hr fasting once a while, but were much more relaxed about protein/meat intake. By 26/Mar, tumor was 38cm, weight 61/62kg. Post radio, surgeon said the scan showed large area of the tumor’s vascular network had shrunk, surgical operation was planned end March. Surgery and recovery were smooth. The post-surgical pathological report revealed “widespread re-differentiation of the tumor towards a normal phenotype”. The report attributed this to the excellent response to radiotherapy.
@Dr.ChristyKesslering, I thought radiation kills/damages cells rather so am intrigued to know that was the reason for re-differentiation. Is that possible? Extremely thankful to you, Dr Westman & others' work in education and truth telling.
@dr.robertjohnson6953
@dr.robertjohnson6953 10 месяцев назад
Sounds like the oncologist had an agenda. He did not want to mention your diet plan of attack. Good on you. The radiological approach can and does work. It can not differentiate between healthy cells or cancer cells. But without the sugar from diet, the cancer is very weak, and without sugar, with ketones for fuel, the healthy cells are much stronger and can handle some radiation. You did well padawon. The health is with this one.

Dr Otto Warburg was half right when he found that cancer cells need glucose. He didn't know about glutamine. Damaged mitochondria unable to burn fats and ketones mean the cells have to resort to the primitive 'fermentation' of glucose and glutamine. Removing excess glucose from the equation is relatively simple to accomplish with a keto or carnivore diet and intermittent fasting, but glutamines are made in the body and very abundant. I read that 6-Diazo-5-oxo-L-norleucine (DON) is a glutamine antagonist that is being used in some regimes, together with fasting (mimicking) diets and hyperbaric oxygen therapy to keep the oxygen-burning healthy cells strong whilst starving the cancerous cells. Thomas N. Seyfried, PhD advocates such an aproach I nelieve.

My father was recently diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic/liver cancer. He’s been obese & type 2 diabetic for 20+ years, terrible high carb/upf diet his whole life. Last week his fasting blood glucose was 18mmol/dl & his doc took him off metformin with zero discussion around diet! I convinced him to try a strict keto diet & guided him for a week. He had no appetite so was already IF unintentionally. Within 5 days & no meds, we got his fasting blood glucose down to 5.4mmol/dl & stable between 5.4-6.5. No medication had done that for him in 20 years! Plus he was loving the satisfying foods. Two days ago his oncologist told him diet will not make any difference to his inevitable terminal outcome, so go ahead & eat all the junk you want. He’s back on the biscuits & crap, blood sugars sky high. So disappointing , he was doing so well & taking measurable action was giving him hope.

I witnessed a family member have chemo and radiation after a terminal diagnosis. He was never advised to change his diet. Infact, whilst in hospital on two occasions, the food served was full of sugar abd carbs. And at the last hospital admission, he was fed likewise but never checked on to see if he was actually eating anything. He was practically starved. He died 3 weeks ago. My take in it all - drs concentrate on pushing their field of so called expertise. They must get some sort of kick back from the companies who make the drugs. And these companies are doing great off cancer patients. Theres no $ in a well person. One positive, we had my brother for an extra 2.5 years past his terminal diagnosis. We are grateful for our time together. I wish he could've been healed but it wasnt meant to be. So we now mourn and grieve and look forward to the day when we will see each other again.

People, Glutamine is needed by healthy bodies as well. The trick is to provide the body with Glutamine to continue normal AND healthy functions while starving cancer from it at the same time. As far as I know, getting rid of Glucose is PARAMOUNT regardless because Glutamine cannot be processed efficiently by cancer if Glucose is absent.

My fasting insulin is quite low and I work to keep it that way. No measurable metastasis. I suspect the keto has kept the growth quite low but still measurable. Unfortunately it is amelanotic so it is hard to see. I test the inflammation markers, insulin, etc and they look great. I am looking forward to seeing the results of my circulating tumor dna. It will help better track. I am being successful at getting ketones at least .5 but often over 1. But I certainly can’t get the super low GKI. I get 4-5. At other visits I've complained about shortness of breath. At other visits I've complained about feeling run down and tired. Basically my list of maladies has grown to 17 items. During my 10 to 15 minute visits my PCP would attack my latest malady. Example, sore all over, tired and run down. Maybe allergies so would send me to Rumologist for testing. If my PCP had spent another 20 minutes with me and looked at the OVERALL picture he would maybe seen a trend toward maybe I have something more serious. I had to take control and insist over 2 months to get a PetScan. Sure enough stage 4 lung cancer. Inoperable! Keto cures cancer is a good question topic and I just want to say that Dr. Annette Bosworth is an author of a book that details a real world look at this. The book is about her mother and how she had 5000 cancer cells to one good one and the cancer was leukemia. With fasting and bone broth only for forty days, she turned this equation upside down. I believe that M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston is an advocate of Keto when it comes to treating cancer. The book is entiltled, "Anyway You Can". She never entended for it to be a book. She just kept her notes and I am so glad that she shared this information with us.

Thomas Seyfried is in over a dozen RU-vid interviews where he discusses her objections to keto vs cancer. She really needs to study what he's saying - what she said deeply disappointed me (because clearly she has no idea of Seyfried's work). He speaks to how lowering glucose, even though you can't stop gluconeogenesis, you are still hurting the tumor. Tumors are using fermentation to turn glucose and glutamine into ATP, and they need a LOT of both. You can't block glutamine or the patient is in trouble, but you can block it part of the time using a drug - I think he calls it Dawn. They're experimenting with this. Seyfriend has found great value with using carnivore to drastically lower glucose and this drug to do an on-off approach to lowering glutamine. He says you can depress glutamine levels for a period of time, then let them go back up - and he thinks it hurts tumors without hurting the patient. Of course, this is early - it's him against the storm, but he may be right. Kesslering really needs to learn more on this topic. She is saying _harmful_ things - or I worry that she is. If I were her patient, I'd walk out on her and find someone else. And all this criticism on people doing the diet wrong - I can't even follow what she's really saying. Clearly, we need to give them far more help and guidance so they do it right. What is she actually saying here? I mean ... she's all over the place in that segment.
@Dr.ChristyKesslering
@Dr.ChristyKesslering Год назад
Sorry you felt that way. I am well aware of Dr. Seyfried's work and love that he is out there discussing this. You definitely can't stop gluconeogenesis but it is the insulin that binds to the cells to pull the glucose into the cells. If we restrict dietary glucose, then we are only making what we need with minimal increases in insulin. Since they need so much they are being weakened and thus our oxidative therapies will work better. As for glutamine, we will also make that but when in an optimal ketogenic state you should be keeping this relatively low and converting more to GABA. You cannot block either (even with a drug) without severe consequences as they are both necessary for our survival. I have seen some tragic outcomes with DON. Not sure what I said that you feel is harmful...
@johneubank8543
@johneubank8543 Год назад
@@Dr.ChristyKesslering thanks. Maybe I misspoke with the word harmful, or maybe I misunderstood you. But don't you worry that you're going too far by saying - if this is what you're saying - that because we can't completely block glucose or glutamines there is no value to trying, to even reducing glucose? That's what it seems like you're saying. If that's not what you're saying, you may want to slow down and emphasize more clearly what you are saying. Seyfried sees great value in lowering glucose. Fermentation in tumor cells is extremely inefficient at ATP production, and they - from what I understand - need quite a bit. Just lowering glucose w fasting and/or extreme keto has put (it seems) tumors into shrinkage and remission. These are anecdotal cases, yes, but they're significant. Seyfried argues that extreme keto should be the standard of care and to do it without chemo/rad first - and only do chemo/rad if keto doesn't work. He's developing a metabolic solution for cancer, and of course he may fail - it may only work in some people. But it may be wonderful. He is working for an on-off protocol for DON. That doesn't kill people. By the way, when you argue that DON, seemingly misused or used without good understanding of it, kills some people, you do realize that radiation and chemo kill people. A lot. I think a better understood protocol for DON, learning just how much a person can take before risk of death or serious harm kicks in, can work. And may be way better than chemo/rad for most patients. Are you sure you understand Seyfried? He's brilliant, as far as I can tell. You may want to revisit him, because our "standard of care" for cancer, excuse my language, sucks out loud. We've made so little progress on it, and if Warberg was right after all (90 years ago!!!) and the nuclear/genetic approach to cancer is wrong (as Seyfried insists - study his case for this - it's well worth considering) ... /facepalm. Did we really reject Warberg because he was German (it was right after WW2 we shifted away from sugar/carb being a major contributor to heart disease, a German/Austrian thing - and we also shifted away from the metabolic cause of cancer, another "German" thing). This is possibly real - we don't really know why we shifted and possibly shifted so badly off the mark after ww2. In both heart disease (prevention mostly - we are better at keeping people alive after they have an M.I.) and cancer, we've made essentially no progress for decades. Or progress has been miniscule. Let me humbly urge you to revisit Seyfried. He has many videos and interviews on RU-vid. If I'm wrong, I apologize. But I think he makes so strong a case that we'd be crazy not to all investigate him more and give him more time. What if his DON protocol can be made to work? Your argument against it, to be brutally honest, does not seem very strong to me. Have you just made a choice as to how you approach this and you don't want to consider a change? I mean ... sorry, that's pretty awful sounding of me, but I literally can't tell. And a professional often does have to make really tough choices - I get that - so I don't really mean it to sound so awful or accusatory. But dig - into your own motivations. Please. Thanks.

@@johneubank8543 Yes, Ancel Keyes and the anti-fat movement was a big (negative) turning point in our health and then the DNA-genes are destiny period further derailed the mitochondrial role. Ancel K was responsible for creating K-rations for WW2. The book by Sam Apple is a great recount. What we have learned is that fat in the blood is not from fat in the diet but rather from high fat-high carb diets and when eating a very high fat/KD we lower triglycerides and IR and inflammation which translate into better health. I am 100% in favor of running trials and figuring out how best to incorporate these tools but sometimes we get a bit ahead of the science. What I see happening when we say that glutamine feeds cancer is that people want to cut out all meat, etc. We have to remember that just because something is elevated in our blood, that not eating that thing is the answer. It is likely far more complicated and complex and is sometimes the exact opposite of what we think. In addition, we continue to come at cancer with "pathway blocking" drugs, etc to kill cancer but what is likely more powerful is healing the host (with diet, lifestyle, mind-body, etc) so that the body can get back to healing and bringing damaged cells back into health. I would encourage you to read The Metabolic Approach to Cancer by Dr. Nasha Winters if you have not already. Thank you for your comments.

An intriguing hypothesis is that the effectiveness of immunotherapy might be enhanced when combined with a ketogenic diet. This idea stems from observations that a three-week ketogenic diet in healthy individuals significantly improved T-cell immunity. This enhancement encompassed all T-cell populations, including T-helper cells, cytotoxic T-lymphocytes, and regulatory T-cells. Given the challenge of T-cell exhaustion, which often poses a significant obstacle in cancer immunotherapy, a ketogenic diet might potentially improve the effectiveness of such therapies. By bolstering the performance and endurance of T-cells in combating cancer cells, the ketogenic diet could offer a valuable approach to mitigate T-cell exhaustion issues in immunotherapies.

Recently diagnosed with cancer, not once have any of the doctors/dieticians, etc…. mention food, I have let mum about it on purpose knowing they won’t hear me. As soon as I was diagnosed, I cut out wheat, sugar, processed foods, caffeine, fried foods, bad oils, and not one doctor addressed that. I don’t eat meat/seafood already so that wasn’t an issue. I did end up going on low dose chemo/radiation as suggested by the oncologists. Mostly because I was in a LOT of pain, and bleeding, and I didn’t have time or money to research alternatives. But getting through the “gold standard” of chemo/radiation was okay for me, I think because of my diet. I don’t stick to any particular diet, I do go with my body, sometimes I feel like I need a potato or cauliflower, and I’ll have it in small portions. I feel better, my blood tests are always good, and the goal now is to take this style of eating and make it life-long. From how I eat - I would say it’s vegan keto, but I do include hard aged cheese maybe once a month of a keto pizza or something. I just wish we had options such as this where I live (Canada), if you want to see a Naturopath or another alternative healthcare practitioner for cancer, you’re looking at $15,000-20,000 (USD)… Most people cannot afford that, so they end up just doing the chemo/radiation/surgery.

People also need to learn to read the ingredients listed on a product and become familiar with the many deceitful names and processes of the product. Why are there any informative videos on this information. Bobby Parish / FlavCity is the only I know showing and telling this info...thank God for him...I love his app to scan the foods and show the toxic ingredients.

Make smoothies using berries like blueberries/blackberries/ raspberries/strawberry and unsweetened coconut milk or unsweetened almond milk, add flax seed, chia seeds or hemp seed, you can add egg protein powder. Make vegetable broth (with cabbage and other veggies), beef bone broth. Green juice is key for cancer: celery, beets, green apple, chard, kale parsley, cucumber, fresh lemon/lime juice. Only use 100% organic ingredients/produce...this is very important.

I have a client who's husband initially beat cancer but now its come back and she says this cancer is due to the radiation from the previous cancer treatments. Is this true? He is a vegetarian and even though he is also diabetic, he eats such a horrible diet. I'm thinking it's probably his diet. I tried to mention to her that cancer could be a metabolic disease but I don't think she realizes what I'm trying to say. He also suffers from neurothopy pain in his feet which they also blame on chemo & radiation but I'm also thinking it could be just from diabetes. Her sister also has cancer. 😢 I wish i could help them. My younger brother died of cancer and I really wish i could have helped him. By the time i found out, it was too late, he died a week later. Coincidentally today is the 3 year anniversary of his death.

Read the book Cancer...Step Outside The Box by Ty and Charlene Bollinger. Chemo and radiation can make tumors shrink and can put people in to "remission", seemingly. But those treatments CANNOT kill cancer stem cells so the cancer will always come back and usually with a vengeance. Natural protocols are the only way to kill the cancer stem cells. Also, the protocol I follow is from a book called " Heal Cancer Naturally, Now " by Terry Lemerond.

Many vegetarians and vegans I know personally eat so much processed junk, and are very obese from consuming potato chips and cakes, cookies, Starbucks sugar coffees, and Cola daily, it's no surprise they are constantly sick...

I'm 61 post menopausal female having uterine bleeding a few times heavish and red with clots but then other most times.....just tinged but ever present....found out I have an endometrium thickness of 2 cm!!! Going for a test hysterascopy to find out but I find it strange that my gyno nor my regular dr wont do my hormone levels bloodwork!!after all it is the high estrogen to lower progesterone that causes the endometrium to thicken
@guflportgyrl
@guflportgyrl 9 месяцев назад
Well, all my 20s, 30s and 40s I went to the Gyno and asked them to please check my hormone levels because I would go months to a year without a period and could not get pregnant so I knew something was off. They always did a basic hormone test and would say I'm in normal range. Well, now I'm 56 and have been diagnosed with endometrial cancer. I believe I could have prevented this if the Dr's had done more targeted hormone tests. My uterine lining is 25mm and Dr said it should be 5mm. I am on all natural protocols and have been ketogenic 5 years. So...please go to a hormone specialist or functional dr ...watch Dr Amie Hornaman too.

@guflportgyrl thanks.....and what's weird is my heart Dr's nurse wouldn't sign to let me go have thst hysterascopy because I'd told her I was having too many episodes of the angina attacks which I want to go ahead and get this over with right???? I haven't bled in over 6 weeks now im assuming because I quit and ran out of my high DHA fish oil supplement and need to re order ...I go back to see the cockeyed young nurse on Oct 10 I don't want her to say to me that my episodes could be caused by acid reflux I do not have heart burn and anyway I doubt that any acid reflux can cause a person's heart rate to go down to 43!!!

@guflportgyrl by the way....I have blockages in my small vessels that feed up into the bigger arteries of the heart ...microvascular I think they say and thry said it happens to more women than men when the woman has low estrogen so I'm still going to fuss till I get my hormone levels checked

If ketogenic diet means the body uses ketone that can also be produced by ketogenic metabolism of lysin and leucine, then any food that has high lysin and leucine, regardless the type ( plant/not) could be described as ketogenic? Oats are high in lysin. So it may be a ketogenic food. Then, specialisation of micro biome. This one is not yet clear. I have my assumption from my own practice. The best is when I’m in plant based 100%, and lot’s of oats. When I cut the oats, health is a bit challenging to manage. So, for Fiber specialised micro biome like mine, plants are the best. Otherwise, it’s the fasting matter. Since our body will naturally ketogenic at night. Perhaps that’s the key. Hence, the term: intermittent fasting.

I use CGM for many patients, especially to look for trends (some times stress will cause spikes) but my main tool is using a Keto-mojo to measure glucose and ketones as studies have shown that these are a good surrogate for improvements in insulin and IGF-1.

There needs to be a big hashed out debate with keto docs and plant based docs on the topic of cancer and diet. Unfortunately even keto Dr. Gundry thinks meat causes cancer.
