Thank you, Dr Westman. I will go check out the bit of news you tossed out towards the end, about some research showing that congestive heart failure seems to be improved when heart muscle is functioning on ketones.

I had a stall. I stopped the MCT oil and am finally back on track. My overall weightloss in the beginning was 60lbs. My A1c was 8.9 now at 6.6 my HDL was 40 now 70 overall doing well. Happy with results so far. I still have another 87 lbs to go...looking forward to my goal. Thank you for all your great knowledge!

Since starting Keto April 4th have lost 8 pounds Have reduced my insulin from 20 units morning and 28 units evening to only 20 or less a day and some days don't take any. Have had quite a few episodes of 50 or less and went into bad shakes where I needed to take a small amount of sugar or have some food with carbs. Being very careful about amount of insulin and carbs of 20 or less per day. Started needing daily salt........spent my life avoiding due to parent's having HBP and developing it myself when I became a Type 2 at 36........now 66 Haven't felt this good in years.

My heartburn and bloating went away after 2 or 3 days on keto. My arthritis discomfort has also decreased significantly. I was taking 3 ES Tylenol every night and motrin during the day. I’m down to using only one or two tylenol less than daily, no motrin. I’m retired, on a fixed income, so I can’t afford supplements. I’ve found a little dill pickle juice works great for preventing leg/foot cramps so far. 😊

I noticed ease in my joints as well, I used to have some pain starting in my joints when cycling steeper uphills, when squatting down to scoop out the catlitterbox and such situations but it went off after a couple of days.

When I started keto 3 years ago I was on 4 BP meds & after 4 months my BP was at 90/60-too low. So I got off all meds & my BP started to creep up again. Currently I'm on losartan/hctz, 1 pill every other day to keep my BP below 140/90 as recommended by the American Academy of Family Physicians.

Thanks to going keto and then carnivore I was able to deprescribe amlodipine after a couple months after a hypertensive crisis, aka extremely high blood pressure. As for my supplements, I don't plan on continuing any of my bottles except D3 after these bottles finish.

Thank you for your books and recipes. I started following phase 1 back in December 2020.I have lost 70 pounds. I have been stalled for 18 months. I watch fat, no nuts and cut out weekend wine but still no change. I started intermittent fasting. Fasting 18 hours eating 6 hours and now I am losing over a pound a week again. Just really want your thoughts on fasting.

As long as you are not trying to grow taller, nor trying to grow/feed a baby, NOR have any history of an eating disorder, fasting should be fine for you. Some people enjoy fasting. And fear not, your body will tell you when to stop. Best wishes for reaching your health goals, 😘

I do take supplements but it’s because I don’t want to take medication with bad side effects. I refuse to take statins and take a supplement instead which improved my cholesterol bloodwork. I would say it is super important to take Vitamin D, Magnesium and fish oil for heart health but I can see where people can over do it. Having said that I believe supplementation is necessary depend upon age and needs. I will always go the natural route vs. any medication for me personally whenever possible.

Why when I started 4 years ago keto ,my ketons was able to go up to 4.5 . I gradually stopped eating vegetables, and became carnivore no dairy , no cheese. Mostly meats ,eggs butter , chicken. Ketons only go above 1.0 if I'm fasting longer then 24 h. I check my sugar and its between 4.0 -5.7 . Few days ago my rash in my skin came back, its very itchy, red and sore. Because of this rash I felt fed up ,that I dont eat verity of food, no sugar or carbs at all and still my rash came back, I had salad ,today I had cauliflower with onions and butter ,and half of the steak for lunch, and just steamed onion with 3 egg yolks and butter . I stopped coffee 5 days ago , getting energy back slowly . 👍 I feel good, strongly have energy but my ketones is only 0.3 . I'm no overweight, and i have CGM for the last 9 days ,and my sugar today is between 5.1 -5.7 . Didnt change at all. I admit adding veg felt sooo good, I always loved them. Expect I felt so full after having veg. I just don't understand why the rash is back, I dont take any medication. I started keto then carnivore because of my skin ,and it was so good for few years . Now my face is itchy with red spots , and my arms are sore and itchy from patch of rash. Am I missing something in my body ? Should I continue with carnivore and add vitamins?

My triglycerides dropped from 1.8 to 1.2 after being on low carb for two months. I eat lots of cheese, cream. butter, eggs and meats. I also eat salads (with EV olive oil & apple cider vinegar) and some vegies like broccoli and cabbage, but no processed "foods" with additives. Dumping sugars and carbs and eating healthy food including fats drops your triglycerides.
