Wow! Those dresses look really lovely on you! I have made many a dress like that. I was born in the Amish setting and later joined the Mennonite community. The mennonites are a little more modern in their lifestyle and their clothing is not as plain. But in general Amish and conservative Mennonites are basically the same.

I'm sorry someone got nasty with you over this. These are Mennonite style Cape dresses. Mennonite is very similar to Amish in many ways doctrinally, and often gets confused. Anabaptist is a sect of Christianity which includes Amish Mennonite and some other churches. I'm surprised that a Mennonite or Amish would get nasty with you about it, so not sure that person was one of those, so don't feel like you're offending anyone. You're doing these dresses justice. The flap in the front and back is called a cape, and it's intent is to conceal the form and provide more modesty. If one does a deep dive into Bible teachings on modesty and clothing, they would find that the cape dress that many Mennonites and Amish wear is styled to adhere to these teachings. They are so feminine and beautiful and I too enjoy this pattern. They look beautiful on you and I'm very glad you're using them.🤗💚
