As the channel grows, I will look more into that. I would like to be able to place a large enough order that I can get a discount and therefore give people a good price.
I have always had to be sort of begrudging in my following of the format, but now I feel a lot more centered on it. This is an excellent step forward, and you got a truly incredible artist for this piece. It's AMAZING.
Excellent rebrand and absolutely incredible artwork you got commissioned. Greatly appreciated and I hope the absolute best for both you and the community
The old art was iconic but this new art is definitely an improvement. Only criticism I have is that on the channel logo, the blue cloak blends in a bit with the grey background. It doesn't have the contrast that the old logo had.
A couple additional things I noticed: From perspective, there are three candles whose sides aren't straight due to a drip of wax; Most of the candles have either three drips, or their drips separate the yellow cores into three sections; And each section of Mr. Blind's clothing (upper arm, lower arm, shoulder, either side of hood) each have three distinct cloth folds. Whoever did this art needs to be commissioned by WOTC, IMMEDIATELY. Fucking gorgeous how much detail was put into this. Speaking of which, who did paint this?? Would love to support them as well. Also +1 on desperately wanting a playmat
The artist is my brother, and your kind words will mean so much to him. He is working on developing his portfolio, and I will of course post to this channel once we have figured out the logistics of selling something like a playmat.
I don't know why i got recommended this video, maybe it's the mtg brainrot, maybe it's the AI image hate train, but anyway I'm happy that i found you and that image look dope I'm gonna check that format you make
I thought it was AI and yea although i dont like AI art, for small project (which this started out as) im more ok with but I do feel good moving to more human art.
Yes, I have recieved this feedback from a couple people and I will look into a solution. I think a quick photoshop will do the trick for the youtube channel icon.
I've never ween your channel and I'm not even entirely certain what it's about, but I applaud you nonetheless. Even if you ignore the ethnical aspects of AI generated images posed as "art", art made by actual humans is still superior because it's intentional and original, even if it isn't Picasso, because AI is literally just a bunch of already existing images melted together.
I appreciate that insight. I have done some very basic research and it is safe to say that I can make that happen (or possibly cheaper). It will require a lot more planning though, so this is a "stay tuned" sort of thing.
As somebody who supports generative AI, this is just an upgrade no matter how you look at it. When you *can* support human artists, you absolutely should! Good on you man.
Agreed, I think unfortunately many folks watching this video may have interpreted my stance as "AI is evil". I think there are ways to use generative AI ethically, but because it is a complicated issue and upsetting for many people, I wanted to acknowledge that their concerns are being heard and I take them very seriously. As with many other tools, AI can be used both in constructive and destructive ways. I do not think my use of AI Wizard Man would be considered problematic by most people, but he certainly never brought me joy personally. I value hand made art more highly than AI generated art even with ethics out of the equation. The new piece is much higher quality and far better represents the brand; it is a image that I feel proud to be associated with.
The artist is my brother and he is still building his brand. I will only share his info once he feels ready to do so (which I am hoping will be in the near future). It would be unethical for me to share his name when he has not given me permission to do so. If he had specifically requested that he should be credited, you would be right, but that was not part of this arrangement
You may have read between the lines and made assumptions about why I made the change. First and foremost, I made this change because the new art looks better and better represents my brand. AI wizard man was always intended to be temporary. I think using AI imagery for small projects or non-commercialized uses is fine, especially if you are entirely transparent about your use of AI in the same way I was. I have every intention of treating this channel as capable of growing to the point where it can make a non-trivial amount of money, so having a polished brand image will pay dividends. If it bothers a significant number of people (which it does), using an AI image is a brand liability to me even if your opinion is it would be morally justifiable. At the end of the day, it is my brand and it represents me, so it is not relevant whether you accept my reasoning or not, but I hope this provides some insight into how this is not a one dimensional issue for me.
>The "ethical" objection to AI art is bullshit Correct, I agree, most especially in contexts like this >because copyright law is an unethical institution. Now you’ve lost me. Perhaps elements are problematic, but on thr whole copyright is a good thing.
