Wow, amazing. Someone is seeking to help followers of Jesus tell others how they can follow Jesus into life and so many of the comments are negative. What's wrong with us? No wonder so many reject Jesus when those who claim to follow him are like so many who make these comments.
Starting with the broken world is a great way to present the gospel. However, it is very, very important to use the word of God, by which I mean specific scripture verses. Psalm 119:130 says "The unfolding of your words gives light; it imparts understanding to the simple."
Ray Comforts way, is to declare you're a sinner, repent or else. NEVER heard the simple gospel from Ray. Never heard the gospel from Sunday Christianity. Circles, and bridges, are not even the gospel. Why can't you just read what Jesus said the gospel is ,and repeat it? Mark 1;14-15, is the gospel, as Jesus said gospel. Any other gospel, no matter how true, is the curse of another gospel look it up. Mt. 24:14, he said gospel, and end. Thy kingdom come, is the simple gospel, STOP calling a teaching, the gospel, for without it preached to all nations there will be no end.

The gospel isn't good news unless you understand the huge crime and condemnation your sin has in the eyes of God when you have broken His commandments. Yes, a person needs to repent and believe the gospel! The gospel, and the teaching of salvation, are SEPERATE, or Jesus would have said John 3:16, is the gospel. Preaching salvation is DIFFERENT from the gospel, bless your mortal heart. Thy kingdom come, us the simple gospel according to Christ. The error, is making it ABOUT CHRIST, as another gospel, when it's according to Christ. Satan has been a great success with the use of prepositions. By Satan, of Christ has become about Christ, preventing the end of. MT. 24:14.
The gospel is the gospel of the kingdom! Jesus is going to return and set up the kingdom of God ON THE EARTH! God’s government ON THE EARTH! The Messiah died for his people! God resurrected the Messiah! The Messiah will resurrect his people at his coming! The destiny of the Messiah and his people is to be ON THE EARTH! The renewed restored earth! God also dwelling with them! Rev 21 Matt 24 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. Jesus said the Father is the only true God! John 17 3 And this is eternal life, that they know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom thou hast sent.
Acts 7 then jumps to Acts 17, Where's Paul? Where's the Blood? repent >= (work) + Believe???... It's FAITH IN THE BLOOD! THAT'S WHAT SAVES! Jesus shed his blood on the cross & said "It is FINISHED" Romans 5:8 nothing else for us to add. Because of what Jesus has done for me, that's what makes me want to turn from my sinful nature. So in other words someone makes a nice rocking chair and someone sits in it and spends his days rocking along. One day he leaves and finds an old broken rockin chair. He finds he has many problems with this chair because it just does not work properly. One day he decides to go back to hos original chair that the great chair maker made for him. And now he can again spend his days rocking to his hearts content. But not only that he needs to tell others to go sit in the good rocking chairs and leave the broken one behind. And that my friend is the Gospel. Absoulute crappy garbage !!!!!!!! Progressive Christianity at it's finest.!!
Hey man, I'm seeing this comment two years later. Do you still give the Gospel this way? I hope not! I think the analogy is missing a greater point. If anything, no one is sitting on a chair. We ARE the chair. We were created as a perfect chair, but we chose the path of a broken chair and separated ourselves from the chair maker. And we needed restoration. So Jesus being THE perfect chair was struck and broken so his wooden pieces could be restored in us which then fixes our brokenness and brings us back to the chair maker. I kind of say this tongue and cheek because I'm using your analogy. But the bigger point is that we as humans are separated from God because of wanting to rule our lives and the world how we want to and become the makers of our own destiny instead of having faith in God. This is what has caused the turmoil you see around you. People consistently making choices that harms ourselves as well as others. But Jesus came and lived a perfect life reflected in what was established and did what we couldn't do. Despite having caused no wrong, he died for our sin and for our shortcomings and took the punishment on behalf of us. In doing so, he paid the debt we couldn't pay. Because of this, if we put our trust in his sacrifice, then we will be reconciled to God. More than that, Jesus was raised back to life, which promises a new creation in which one day we will live away and far from the brokenness that has held us captive since the beginning.
