What if the plate is rusted stuck? The allen wrench will not turn at all. There is nothing that I can see stuck in the disposal but I notice the plate is very rusty.

I definitely think adding a little bit of degreaser like a drop to the ice and a few drops of dish soap would have made a huge help. Maybe I'm wrong. Never owned a garbage disposal but that's my personal opinion

Every other day, cut a lemon in half, run it add ice..fun it until stops clanking from ice. Completely cleaned from acid in juice, smell fresh, ice loosens and keeps bladed in good cutting shape

Ive been doing this for years. Once a month i do this but i use the ice and soap at the same time.

I do this regularly as PM, and it seems to help.

What is the purpose of garbage disposal? Why would you dispose anything inside of your pipes risking to buld up ???

I use some sand paper on my fingers, turn on disposal and while it's spinning I use my hand and the sand paper to sand away the rust

Ice sharpens the blades according to the instructions on the disposal

Why not ice and ajax?

Baking soda and ice work better. As much ice as it can take and about a third cup baking soda. It scours it.

I'd suggest you do this in to a bucket. Your just moving. Unlikely it will make it to the sewer.
