I live in Lithuania and I wanted to have a garbage disposer in my sink here for so long that one day I said fuck it and went on eBay, payed 450 dollars for the pro 750 and 250 bucks for shipping alone, and got myself this real American dream appliance that does not exist in Lithuania or if it does its the horrible knockoff version. I bought a 3 kva transformer to stepdown our 240 volts to 120 volts and I am so happy to this day that I finally bought it back then. It was 5 years now, I literally couldn't imagine myself peeling potatoes into a bin while squatting. I peel it in the sink, and then flush it down the sink so easily. Its amazing.

And then your foodwaste goes where, instead of into the ground where Nature has been using it to feed the planet for quite some time now? Maybe the Baltic states don’t have so-called ‘garbage disposals’ because removing large amounts of food waste from wastewater before it gets dumped back into the environment is expensive and your water treatment facilities are not well suited to keep nitric nutrients out of the water supply that could devastate ecosystems by inundating them with nutrients for dangerous algae… … maybe 🤷‍♂️

We built our house in 2013. We had the same insinkerator Badger 1 1/3hp disposal from the day it was installed. About 10 years of use which really surprised me. I had no problem staying with the Insinkerator Badger series. I upgraded to the Badger 5 1/2 hp.

Dang near impossible to get for the past year, but I managed to finally get an Insinkerator Evolution Excel. Pricey, yes, but the greatest thing since sliced bread. I'm not exaggerating when I say the water running in the sink is louder than the disposal. 1hp,triple grind, & 5x torque when it senses a jam. I first ordered one last July but kept getting out-of-stock emails. Finally went to Ebay & found a reputable seller that had one in stock. A week later I had it in my hot hands. Sad how eager I was to install & try it. :D

I have a badger 5, 3/4 hp. The disk when you look down into it is all rusty. I was pouring bleach down it to get rid of sewer flies. Maybe that’s why it rusted. I was thinking about getting the compact evolution 3/4 HP model. Don’t know if the disk is stainless or not. I don’t have room to go with the standard size. What do you think about the compact size?

i have the evolution xl love it it devours everything in sight i think it has 4 ways that it grinds up food as well. i put pork chop bones and corn cobs down it and it grinds em with no issues. the badger line is complete crap they rust out with in 6 months. though in sink erator did send out a plumber to replace mine. wich rusted out again LOL. i figured i wanted a better unit that grinds food up into finer particles as well to keep the drain clear

Which model is any is less prone to water links from the bottom? I've had this happen twice now to me with Badger models, but than again I have old plumbing and hard water, but they often only last me like 2.5 years before the need repair, in this ltest case leaks from the bottom, (not near the water intake or drainage pipes) but mainly from the motor chord:

Bought top of line ISE 1.25 hp SS auto reverse anti-jam disposal in 1995 for $149. It has very heavy duty impellers and grind ring. Gets multiple uses daily for almost 30 years and it's still in service! In fact, I take it with me when I move from house to house. They don't make 'em like this today. Don't buy small motor 1hp disposals with little impeller hammers. Went through three of those in 9 months as the hammers shattered and broke on bones that my other disposal above handles with no complaints.

I'm not a professional but i've replaced quite a few garbage disposals for family, friends, and a few neighbors and ive found the lower end insinkerator's like the badger are just trash. I usually replaced them with Waste King 3/4hp L-3200 units and the difference is night and day. They run at 2800rpm instead of 1725 like most insinkerators and they've got a 9 year warranty. Cost less too. I've also installed a couple of Waste King 1.0hp L-8000 garbage disposals and they're just insane. As a test i ran a corn cobb down it and it hardly even noticed. Best part of that model is the 20 year warranty. Waste King has a superior permenent magnet motor which has far more torque and higher RPM. Its a bit noisier but worth it in the end. I keep seeing people say Waste King are made overseas but the last two i installed said "made in USA". While the insinkerators said "assembled in USA".

Here's a plumbers tip. If you want to have the best chance of lower plumbing issues. Don't put anything down the garbage disposal. Any vegetables, food, chicken bones, etc.It will eventually mess up your plumbing system. Also it will get caught in your pipes and you will have moths. So then you're gonna have to clean out your plumbing more often.

I purchased the evolution compact but likely returning and purchasing the badger 5. We just don’t have the space under the sink for the size of the evolution compact. It’s a lot of weight/strain on an undermount sink as well. We don’t plan to grind bones and other dense items-it really shouldn’t go down the drain anyway.

I would go for the contractor 1000 (#2). Sure it is more expensive but you get what you pay for. You might have to go to a plumbing supply store like Ferguson to get it. I have no affiliation with Ferguson whatsoever, never shopped there or any of that. I just know about them because there is one I go past a lot on the way to my Sister's house. I have no idea how their prices compare with those of other stores that would have similar items, shop around and you may find it on sale. Just make sure if you had to order it they will take a return if it is the wrong one or a broken one.
