Skin conditions are huge, especially if you are on any type of oral medications (systemic therapy) such as antibiotics. Even if you don't take them on a continuous bases, still accept them! I went from 0% to 60% for follicuiltis all because my dermatologist issued me antibiotics to treat the condition. I've received them for well over six months which meant that I fell into the "constant and/or near constant" category. This extra 60% took me over the top and I ended up with 100%. BTW the laws for skin conditions was updated back in August 2018 to make them more favorable (for veterans). Also, most oral medications (antibiotics, antifungals, immuno-suppressants, etc ) count as "systemic." Lastly, if your skin condition results in any type of scarring the VA may give you that rating instead. Basically, whichever condition (skin vs scars) yields a higher rating is the one that they'll award you with.

Skin condition: i have psoriasis service connected at 30%. During covid I went about trying to get a higher rating. Reason being because I was taken off a drug because of covid. When I came off the meds that psoriasis went crazy AND i was also diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis. I got back on the meds but it didn’t work, put on another med and it worked. An increase was rejected because I wasn’t on the med long enough, a two or three month break. A break because the doc said it wasn’t a good idea during covid. I am currently working on a higher rating because I have been on the meds for a few years now. The reason for the break in meds was because the meds were an autoimmune risk.

The VA Doctors keep telling they can't fill put DBQ forms, that it is a conflict of interest. Had anyone else experienced this? The forms usually ask if they're a VA Dr. I had a VA Doctor, a couple years ago fill one out and help me and my claim was increased in less than 2 months. It doesn't make sense they wouldn't considering I'm trying to get more help for my disabilities, that stem from service, so why wouldn't they help me get more care. Going to a private DR. Would only cause more of the financial hardship created by these disabilities in the first place.

@Abby Gearhart Vit D deficiency is quite common, especially for those of us living up north. Over the last 10 years or so the medical community has become more aware of the issues vit D deficiency can cause. Another deficiency that is not routine is Vit B12. This deficiency can also cause a bunch of medical issues, especially as we age. (DAV RN). Also Vit D and B12 deficient. Does PN mean pain? Untreated Vit D deficiency may cause pain.

Vertigo since 12/2019, and with dizziness and nausea. Because of vertigo, dizziness, and nausea, hearing loss surgery both ears implants. Hearing test on 4 May 2022, extreme hearing loss still bad even with hearing implants. Tele C&P for PTSD was denied 23 years ago. VA shows chronic PTSD. Now, all I need to do is nothing everything has been done so far. On 11/2015, tremors started either Parkinson's Disease (PD) or nerve damage I was told in September 2016 by a Neurologist. X-rays taken today will give me the answer. VA claims were filed through DAV. I was 70/30% for 17 years, which was changed to 80/20% prostate cancer - agent orange. My symptoms with my ear was always told me it was the pressure from being on a Submarine and the ringing was because of that and maybe because I was a sonarman. I started to develop more symptoms as I got more into my late 30's and into my 40's .I got diagnose with Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo in 2011 and then Semicircular canal fistula when my vertigo started to affect me when I was driving and the clogged feeling in my ear got worse. They told me they would have to crack my head open to help correct the condition. I was like ahhh no because there was only a 40% that would have worked. Now trying to get me service connected with Meniere's Syndrome that is the question. But I am going to make an appointment with my ENT with the VA, just as a check up and to talk to them about it. I have a question? My husband had back surgery last Sept. He has health issues former stokes and Afib. Anyway he was released the same day. Within day a few days he was back at the hospital ER with leg issues unable to walk. They said it was muscle meds. 2 days later he was falling out of his wheelchair and drooling he had a stroke. He recovered from stroke but spent 4 months in rehap and now still in pain cannot lift his legs and uses a walker and very unstable. Pain level is same as before. I don't understand why they did not keep him for observation after surgery due to history.

My case has been appealed by the American Legion, whom does not represent me. The regional Director of the American Legion certified my appeal/complaint but kept his name off the form. I am fighting for the back pay up to 100% till at least 2007 when I was finally allowed to apply for only some injuries and I believe I have the right to receive benefits back to 2001 at 100% due to the clear and obvious conspiracy that kept me from receiving help in service including treatment and justice for the crimes committed against me including articles 93-Cruelty and Maltreatment, 97-Unlawful Detention, 107-False Official Statement's, 115-Malingering, 124-Maiming, 131- Perjury, and others. To put it shortly, my command retaliated against me for admitting to seeing one of them beat down one of their subordinates and for defending myself against a soldier whom beat his wife into a coma whom spread around that I, when asked, reported what I saw. I was a Scout 19Delta, Army. So my command refused to help me in any way including food and they starved me through the winter at Ft Carson, Co in 2000-01 and until I was discharged. 6 days was the longest I was starved which ended March 13th according to records which indicate I was 32 lbs below my average. The VA doctor says my hands were repeatedly frostbitten which explains the permanent swelling. My command starved, jailed, froze, pumped fumes in my face for fun, court martialed me and more until I was honorably discharged from service a complete nut case and losing my mind. The records show an obvious cover up and that my hypothermia was hidden poorly and that files have been removed both in service and afterwards. I'm studying case law now and could use good and patient attorneys to straighten everything out and get everything I'm owed. If you think you can work with me, let me know. Thank you.
