Have utmost respect for Mike Patton to begin with, but that man has the craziest vocal range of any “alternative” musician, EVER. Him and Layne are absolutely the two reigning champions of the modern, non-classical voice
@@sentientcloroxbottle1557 Great call! I've always liked Peter's voice as well. Also, Mike Patton is another of my favorite lead singers from this era of music. Salute 😎👍🎶
He lived in the Sunset (SF)near my Uncle. Met him couple times walking my dog. What a cool, down to earth guy MRBUNGLE, opera METAL..ETC.ETC. Name a genre this man can't sing.... He is brilliant, beyond talented.... intelligent....clear headed real musician in every sense of the word.
Mike Patton is the ONLY person other than Daron that i would be ok with replacing Serj in System Of A Down if they were ever to continue without Serj Tankian.
Mike Patton’s lowest note: Hemophiliac - []≈[]≈[]≈[] (F0) Throat Singing (i think) Mike Patton’s highest note: Fantômas - Delírium Córdia (F7) Screeching and squealing these include inhaling which some people say is not singing, I say If its coming from your mouth then it counts.
He truly has a vocal gift he chose to not restrain by going with vocal instruction that could teach him nothing, but by his own intuition. He has contradicted the norm by becoming what he is, but made his choices consciously, and at great personal sacrifices along the way. That is a true artist.
My favorite Mike's song is "Midlife crisis" (actually, it in my top-10 songs of all time) - it has cool lyrics (menstuating heart, yeah) and sounds like it sang by THREE people - one with very low scary whisper-like voice, one with nasaly Anthony Kiedis-like voice and another one with perfect metal-y scream abilities)
Just discovered FNM (I had been putting off listening to them for a very long time), and I have no regrets. Also, I’ve listened to Midlife Crisis and Easy an unhealthy number of times in the span of 3 days.
Patton is a God, he begun to explore his vocals abilities with the 1st official MrBungle album followed by Angel Dust. The operatic scream in Land of Sunshine ending (SENILE!) is amazing.. Lot of people prefer The Real Things but I think Patton was nowhere near strong as he would become after the Real Things tour... :)
I love faith no more to the extent that I named my daughter Faith! I once saw Mike deliver a middle C that would make Pavarotti shiver during a gig. The 50 or so of us engaged in a mosh pit went from pushing to hugs!
When I’m traveling in my truck Mr Bungle and FNM are my usual go to, and sometimes I attempt the Carry Stress in the Jaw scream, or Smaller and Smaller scream (FNM) Yeh I should really stop trying😂
FantOmas is a great example of his vocal ability. Granted, he’s capable of much more, and FantOmas stays within its own parameters, but the range on the first album alone is remarkable. Such a fun, thrilling record!
*Oprah* is indeed one of the hardest genres to sing. Mike is the best male rock vocalist of all time and in the top 4 greats with Chris Cornell, Axl Rose and Robert Plant.
Finally this channel starts talking about the god of singers himself. Now the question is, when are you gonna talk about the female version, Nina Hagen, the QUEEN OF PUNK ROCK
@@annepatton8727 That must be awesome being able to meet him! I hope I have the opportunity to see him live one day. 🤩 I’m barely getting into Mike Patton and his various musical projects. What would you say is your favorite song by him? Or what would you recommend for someone like me who’s new to his creative work? 😃
@@miajc6606 Of course you have to listen to FNM, but I would suggest you start by listening to Mr. Bungle or Tomahawk. I think he rocked those bands. On the other side, can't pick a fav song...there are so many, he is so gifted and diverse...I can suggest certain songs if you like
His range and tone cannot be replicated no matter how hard people try IMO. Undeniably one of the most unique and skilled vocalist-performers on this earth. Beyond our planet, who knows.
Mike has a gigantic range and for sure the biggest range in heavy music. And in US music. However, in other genres and countries there are singers with even bigger overall ranges and much bigger functional ranges, such as Nicola Sedda (Italy), Dimash (Kazakhstan) and Adam Lopez (Australia)
What impresses me the most is that he's still as able as he is. If I took all my best moments throughout the years, I could cover the range and some textures, but now, I just don't have all of it dialed in. Notably the whistle register that simply disappeared somewhere in my 20s.
I don't know for sure (i have no idea of singing or playing any instrument apart for slapping my chest, and im not good enough to play in public) but can Mike Patton be the Rock-Metal-alternative (i think you understand)singer with the "biggest" vocal range in history or is there another beast out there?
It's because he has musical pallet of influence and inspirations and the effects he uses he always lays it on the line of what he's currently into he gets bored fast with projects and he mixes genres constantly briefs the sound man or when he mixes his own sound
The last one sounds like in the 80s version of "Land of the Dead" when the soldier was getting his head ripped off while screaming.. Brutal scene, it haunted me as a 90s kid, cause his vocal chords were stretched apart on screen, distorting the scream. Check it out, it's way ahead of it's time. I love 80s special effects, cause they use prosthetics instead of bad CGI, it's timeless.. Except when they use it for things like Arnold's head in Total Recall lmao
Tbh .lst peoñle ramble about his range and while inagree, i dlnt think its fair to hoghlight ther as his stronger feat as a singer or vocalist, for me tje most valuable thing its that he choosed his crazy range and talent in one of the most creative, nonchalant and chaotic way possible and stilo bekng prolofoc witj every prpject he wants to clnvey, never feels he makes a weak approach of any style, he fully commits with the vibe and tone he wants to presents
0:55 trying to write without bad words, thats not a complete note, a secure voice ejecuttion, even a goog falsetto but something a lot of singers can do. Thats NOT a ches note
@@CrazySinging mixed voice is an over complication/mistification of singing, at no point the chest and falsetto registers mix that is not anatomically possible. Its just mass and chiaroscuro.
2:10 it's guttural and it's being used in a very extreme metal. This style is called pig scream😂There are also zombie sound and one thing which I dont recognize because I rarely listen that type of music. But huge respect for Mike because he has 6 musical octaves(the biggest range in musical industry)and he can use THIS.But really recommend Japanese legendary metal band Dir En Grey where Kyo who is really close to Patton can do every guttural sound and has 5 octaves(second in mainstream music) with tenor in regular basis(cuz Mike doesn't use it in album record only live)
Might want to check out Skye Sweetnam with Sumo Cyco in this live sing-through of Sun Eater, her vocals cover a bunch of genres/range in one song. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PhkPd7Ft0Tk.html
Podrá tener el registro vocal más alto del universo entero. Pero, cuando lo escucho, solo oigo gritos estridentes y odiosos. ¿De qué le sirve su "don" si no lo sabe usar?
Whatever! It's genetics cut and dry. He can do it we can not. He's great and deserves to get paid for it plus he lives it. Don't think he needs an encouraging word!! -Love Bungle but no man is God
