You should have cut all the garlic chives that had the pods on top. You only need to snip it half way up. They are the ones that to go to seed and stop the chives from continuing to produce Cutting them off prevents that from happening
I washed up on an island once and lived like this for many years. My best friends were a rock and a coconut, but apart from that it was awesome. There were wild chickens and all you can eat seafood and berries and vegetables. After the third year, my dwelling had become something to behold.
You gotta admit, there's something about being out in nature, that 2000% beats sitting at home playing games on your PC/mobile phone/games console. It's hard work building a shelter, but once the chopping of the wood and sourcing the rocks are done, it's just a matter of placing the rocks so they make a fireplace/cooking facility, then using the rest of them (depending on how many you gathered) in such a way that it serves to protect against the elements somewhat. I've always found that slate is one of the best types of rock to use, as although you may need many, they usually break pretty flat, so you can stack the slates and make a good solid, fairly stable wall with it. Couple that with the red clay mud you get in Wales (which is also great for making red bricks with), and that mud is great as a mortar substitute. Having holidayed in, and now live in Wales, any cottage, over 200yrs old, that was built with the red clay, has lasted far longer and had less mould than any new build house that I've resided in. Just goes to show, that if a shelter is built with natural materials, it's likely to last longer and be less mouldy than the characterless new builds.
@@keithdouglas9848 .......I did write a book. I sold it for $5 to some guy. I cant recall his name. It was Thomas something. Mr Thomas Honks or Hunks i think. I guess i will never know if the guy ever even read my book. But i enjoyed writing it while i was there all of those years.

In a hole in the ground there lived a man. Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a man hole, and that means comfort.
Mud and grass make great brick-type mortar for patching and building. And adding water to the surrounding dirt around long logs should help to cement them in the ground. A heavy rain and wind could demolish your “home”. Just another comment, aren’t you too close to the water? I’m a first time viewer and new subscriber.
Next time put some of the heavier rocks at the base of the wood you are using for poles. THEN pack the earth around them adding in smaller rocks for stability. The rain will then pack everything together.
