First up, we'll be exploring the iconic Edinburgh Castle, which sits atop a hill overlooking the city. From here, you can enjoy stunning views of the city and learn about the castle's rich history, including its role in the Wars of Scottish Independence. Don't miss the famous One O'Clock Gun, which is fired every day except Sunday at, you guessed it, one o'clock!
Next, we'll be strolling down the Royal Mile, a historic street that stretches from the castle to the Palace of Holyroodhouse. Along the way, you'll find plenty of shops selling tartan, whisky, and other Scottish souvenirs.
If you're looking for a taste of local culture, head to the Grassmarket, a lively square that's home to some of Edinburgh's best pubs and restaurants. From here, you can also catch a glimpse of the iconic Greyfriars Bobby statue, which commemorates a loyal dog who guarded his owner's grave for 14 years.
Last but not least, no visit to Edinburgh is complete without a trip to Calton Hill. The hike to the top takes about twenty minutes, but the panoramic views of the city and surrounding countryside are well worth the effort.
