I am a Japanese living in Fukuoka. Although Fukuoka is a smaller city compared to Tokyo and Osaka, in recent years it has developed rapidly as a compact city with an excellent living environment. In fact, Fukuoka is the number one population growth rate that is quite popular in Fukuoka. The development of many entertainment facilities is planned, and Fukuoka will become a more enjoyable city in the future.

Fukuoka seem already great on paper to me. Also if you live here , i definitively have to ask for an advice to you , if you can answer. I will be in Fukuoka in february for 6 days, and 3 more in Nagasaki (mostly for the lantern festival). I'm french and as the cliché say , i love cheese. I've learn that 焼きカレー exist and i need to try it. Is it worth to go to Mojiko to eat it or it's overrated and i could find a nice place to eat it in Fukuoka ? Thanks for the answer!

I absolutely love the budget concept of this series. I am also thinking that a lot of travel vlogs are high end with very sensationalised content, but budget travel is fun and satisfying and a challenge in its own right - especially in Japan! I also think convenience stores in Japan are part of the fun, and even as a veggie I know I can get some cheap eats there and have a great time exploring the shelves. The McGriddle you made - you guys are literally winning! 😂

I’m new to your channel, but I wanted to say that I love that you made a video about Fukuoka! And that you mentioned it being pretty underrated but (perhaps) up and coming. I’ve lived there so it has a special place in my heart, but whenever I give the advice to those planning a trip to Japan, there are many others saying it’s not worth visiting (especially in a Facebook group for travel trips to Japan). Which makes me sad as Fukuoka has so many cool aspects, relaxed vibes and even has beaches! Instead others recommend standard and crowded places like Miyajima, Kyoto, Osaka etc. I think Fukuoka has this great vibe and it deserves more attention 🥰 On the other hand, it wouldn’t be so bad if Fukuoka stayed a secret gem without the hordes of tourists for it to be enjoyed in peace with the locals haha 😊 Anyway, I love your insights and willingness to give cool places like Fukuoka a try!

TeamLab! I went to the one in Osaka -- twice -- and loved it so much I left wondering why *every* major city in the world doesn't have its own TeamLab experience. It's just such a magical space. Can't stress this enough -- if you are in Japan and are in a city that has a TeamLabs, go and buy a ticket and enjoy. You won't regret it.

wow I had so much fun watching y'all have fun ! I'm going to Japan next year in April and decided to start out the trip with going to Fukuoka first ! the main reason is I didn't want to just jump into Tokyo because I'm not used to crowds and I don't want to stress out when im supposed to have fun. to me from what I've seen Fukuoka seams chill and peaceful , you can enjoy the city and also the beauty of nature and historical shrines and buildings . I love how realistic your budget is especially when it comes to food. the shots you took of the canal were beautiful ! the outdoor food vendor party was so cool I hope I can find it when go 😅 also you changed my mind on team lab after seeing you guys have so much fun ✨♥

I love Fukuoka! I'm glad you guys had a good time. As far as Fukuoka based affordable chains go, I recommend Ringer Hut for your next trip. Their sara udon (crispy crunchy fried noodles that almost remind me of Hawaiian/Chinese style cake noodles) is my absolute favorite and it's so cheap. But your friend is right there are much better Hakata style ramen shops in Fukuoka but there's no shame in loving Ichiran. Glad you guys got some motsunabe, too!
@inodesnet

Welcome back to Fukuoka. Great to see a video on one of our two home towns. I saw you also did a 3 day video on our other home town, Sydney. Regarding Ramen in Fukuoka, of course it is the home of Tonkotsu styles of Ramen. Most notably Hakata style. But close to Tenjin, there is a lighter broth version called Nagahama, and further south there is Kurume style. Oh yes, going to Ichiran or Ippudo..... um, okay I'll let you off. Best Ramen is always from the dodgiest looking stalls. Or brave the yattai's. Softbank Hawks are always great to watch. In the last 10 years, the team has won more championships than any other. And for quite some time now, Japan has been ranked 1st in world baseball ahead of the US. Baseball has been popular in Japan since the late 1800's - so it's not a new sport to them. They even have pink days, where the stadiums are full of women and they all get free merch to encourage more women to come out. It makes the fan base wide and encourages families to all come out together. Watching baseball in Japan is always high energy!! When it comes to pricing in venues such as a sporting event, in the west we would suffer captive prices. A case of "well you cannot go anywhere else, so we'll charge much higher prices". In Japan this practice is illegal. A price, is a price. It's also why convenience store prices are not high compared to anywhere else. They cannot simply add a large surcharge for the case of convenience, like they would elsewhere. In Australia for example, a bottle of drink in Woolworths would cost significantly less than the same thing in 7 Eleven. Absolutely, not possible to rip off customers this way in Japan. By the way.... next time in Fukuoka, be sure to go down to Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine. It's a must in Fukuoka. Dazaifu is the old capital of Kyushu and its history goes back well over 1000 years.

I used to live in Kyushu. I will be going back this November. I am looking forward to being home for a few weeks. I love it you went there. I hate it people are going to start going. It's a hidden gem. The entire island is a gem. What tourist don't know is that most of the food you enjoy now in Japan is from Kyushu due to the Dutch and Portuguese influences as well as the US Navy being in Sasebo (Where I used to live). It's home to me and I want to retire there. I wonder if I can open a Yatai as an American and just live out my final 30 years as a local? If you are on a budget then Ichiran is not cheap when you look at other places that are over 100 years old and the owners of the flavors in ramen. Your Ichiran is about $11 a bowl and a few of the local spots with much better ramen are $5 to $7 tops and way better. Ichiran is nice but the McDonalds of ramen now. I get that face every time I mention it to my Japanese friends.

ّI love your 3 day 100 dollars per day series!!! just love it! one my biggest concerns when travelling is the finance ... that its too expensive .... but Im learning sooo much from you guys .... I used to travel only business class and stay in luxury hotels but after covid and with inflation hitting everywhere it has become harder to spend extra money in luxury so I kind of held back on travelling ... but I kid you not after watching your way of travelling and some other travel budget friendly travellers ... I went out of my box and booked 5 trips for the next 6 months ... booking early , budget friendly airlines ... booked budget friendly hotels using my miles for my next trip to Vienna next month and just came back from Istanbul and spend only 200 dollars on food and entertainment for 5 days ( not including accommodation) with focusing on street food that is good and not the ambiance and luxury ... and had more fun than ever... I ate breakfast in bakeries and lunch packed picnic stuff from groceries and dinner eating tasty street food in budget friendly eateries ... best trip ever! Thank you for inspiring us !

Can I give you an advice as a Foreign Resident of Fukuoka? It seems that you took the subway at least 3 times within a day…in that case, it’s cheaper to get the subway day pass for 640JpY sold at all the machines in the station. And next time you really want budget eats and drink in Fukuoka, let me know. For example: I know where you can drink unlimited alcohol drinks for 3 hours for about 12USD.

Hi there There are many railway companies in Japan, but unfortunately the JR Pass does not apply to the subway. One-day tickets are issued for 640 yen on the Fukuoka subway. You can also use a credit card as a ticket, and even in that case, the maximum amount for the day will be set at 640 yen. It is most rational and convenient for foreigners to use a credit card as a ticket when boarding the Fukuoka subway.

Someone stole my past! In 1960 Itazuke AFB (now Fukuoka International Airport) was my first assignment out of tech school. My pay was less than $100 per month, but the exchange was 360Y for a dollar. One of the best beers ever brewed, Asahi was $1 for nearly a gallon. Whisky, Torys was $1 a bottle. I rode a Cabton motorcycle. Gas was 10 cents a gallon. Before the "merchants" of the world ruined everything a dollar was worth a dollar??

There are such opinions, but many of the restaurants in Japan have almost no dress code rules like those in Europe and the United States. Wearing casual clothes is considered free for people, unless it is a super high-end store. I would be happy if it could be helpful.😊
