In April of 2024, after finishing the Affric Kintail Way, Otto and I explored the beautiful, but very remote areas of Kintail and Glen Affric a bit more. We had the area completely to ourselves and didn’t see anyone for days.
Come join us for a 60km hiking and wildcamping adventure where we faced storm force winds, stayed in a bothy at the exact right time, finally had some beautiful views and found the most perfect spot to wildcamp.

Hello Elli, your endurance and "ability to suffer" - in other words your strength - are truly admirable. If I had to hike in such conditions with feet so wet, I think my toes would fall off and I probably wouldn't be able to see the impressive landscape at all. Keep going and good luck!😊

Such a beautiful landscape, and what a relief when the sun finally came out! That is the silver lining to Scotland's wet weather, I think: when the sun does finally come out, it can feel almost magical. You did a great job carrying Otto across that ford. That looked a little scary, but you handled it like a champ.

quadruped LOLZ at bipod in the gale 😂 🔥Otto was on fire the whole trip ♥ I do find that dogs are invigorated by the wind - perhaps it's millions of scents rapidly passing their noses 🤔 That was a really lovely route and video, Elli. Nice new tune 😊 And you found a better route for the Affric Kintail Way 😊 Hope you're having fun and relaxing and slowing down now you're over half way 🌲🌳🌄🌅🏁 Was it InReach when you debagged and rescued Otto in the stream ? 😉

I really enjoyed your video, the picture quality was so good, and your commentary sounded as if you were brimming with confidence. Carrying Otto across the stream, looked potentially difficult, and you didn't slip on the rocks. It may have been the camera angle, but to my eyes you are also looking strong, and I mean that in a good way. I'm looking forward to your next video. I've also been watching Lauren Roarwick walking across New Zealand, the contrast between your landscape and hers are so interesting. New Zealand seems to have huts to sleep in for the night all along her route.

Hello Elli and Otto, Wow that bloody wind was strong on this one, no wonder you were so glad to get to the Boff. Love the way Otto heads off up the hills But always seems to go the right way (does he have a built-in GPS lol) Also so cute when you give him the choice of treats to pick and he thinks about it for a bit But then grabs the big one, he's not daft. Another great adventure with once again some amazing views. 😜✌

Incredible scenery, with almost no evidence of human activity for much of the route! No walls, fences, forestry etc! Walking this part of the route thousands of years ago would look almost identical, which is amazing!

ikwym but todays "classic Scottish" landscape is often described as an ecological desert having been heavily impacted by tree clearance by humans and by overpopulation with sheep and deer. A number of estates are working to reverse that eg Feshie & Mar Lodge. I wonder if Elli got to see any of the regeneration on the TGO.

Hi Elli, thanks for another delightful episode of you and Otto. I'm probably being lazy given I know you've made vlogs about your equipment. But please could you kindly tell what those insulated 'foot-mittens', so to say, are? You wore them inside at Camban bothy and in the tent on the shore of the loch. I don't think my old feet could ever be cold again if I could buy some!!

Congratulations on a great hike and beautiful video. How well do the Sealzskin socks keep you dry (or wet, but warm?)? Did you have to walk in wet and cold socks nearly every day? They don't dry overnight, I assume, not even in a bothy, when there's no fire, or do they? Can you get them dry underneath a sleeping bag? Thus I wonder if you have some great tricks to dry them or whether you "soldiered on". Thank you.

Thank you so much for the kind words and sorry for the late reply! The Sealskinz work well for me: If it's "just" long, wet grass or a bit boggy, my feet generally stay more or less dry. If I ford a river and the water is really "pushed" in, they will be wet - but they stay warm. On that particular hike, yes: I've had wet feet all day every day. Putting on wet socks in the morning is tough, but it gets better and warmer once I start hiking so I don't notice it that much. I don't bother drying them (unless it's easy to do it when there's a fire) because they're either getting wet again in the morning (if the conditions are wet) or will dry quickly when hiking if the weather is dry. It's just that first moment for me and I just get through it.... But what I always do: Keep one pair dry at all times. I have one pair that I only wear at night/at camp that always stays dry so that I have always something to change into and have my feet dry... That makes a huge difference :)

I normally use outdooractive. With the pro subscription, I can use the OS maps and yes, it works offline. You can download your route and navigate offline :)
