Definitely back factory Silver refurbish numbers matching block and Trans, period correct interior kit 17 to 20" rallys front rear disk brakes You'll make way more out of it.
Rebuild that original motor of the camaro with some cool internals and leave it mostly original. Repaint it silver and change the interior back to black. The build sheet is probably behind the upper back seat. Rebuild that trans am motor and get it back on the road as is. Punt it down the road.
The Camaro already has all the right bones needed to go full on and do a killer pro touring with a nice wheel and tire combo with rally stripe package. All upgradable bolt on suspension parts are readily available...new engine and paint, pull the trigger Richard!
I should add, the paint, heads and exhaust, not including replacing the engine makes it no longer an original 50 k car anyway and they're not that rare. More of a reason to go full tilt on it.
Chase. You need to make all of your knowledge " Official / Certified ". Pls, Pls, PLEASE...do what you need to do, have Richard pay for, and get any and all the Certified / Licensed / Official documents that recognize your knowledge. Years down the road, you will be glad you did. It will also make the work you do "worth" more. Richard can say that "blah, blah car" was worked on / restored by a "Certified (blah, blah) Mechanic. 😎.
Kid started early learning about vehicles and would love to know his story how it all started. My dad grew up on a dairy farm in Ames, Iowa and knew a world of car knowledge by the time he was 17 and bought, built and drove the badest hotrod in town.
Would be pretty cool to see Richard and chase agree on a big build to be done but mainly let chase take of the build, wanna see what the new monkeys can really achieve when they put heart and soul into something👌🏼👌🏼

I agree with most. Repaint the Camaro silver and put the early 70's Z-28 wheels on it in matching silver. The engine has to come out anyway, ship to to a shop to get it rebuilt since it's matching #'s. Then test the car to see if the tranny is still good or not.
Damn that Camaro is slick. My cousin has a 77 that he's been restoring for a couple years now. But I love this blue. Back when Chevrolet put passion in their cars.
I wonder the same exact thing as Rawlings... why can't we use the energy that each of the 4 wheels turning (like a windmill or waterwheel energy system) to keep the batteries charged as you roll down the road. Even if it's not efficient enough to keep the batteries full when you drive it can greatly extend the travel distance instead of just the battery power alone between charges.
Huge F body fan and I love the 2nd gen!! Reading the comments, I agree that you gotta build the Camaro. Nothing too wild and since the Firebird isn't any thing special, you can go wild on it!!!
I miss the days when Gas Monkey built cool rides one after the other... Richard is super nice guy to pay all these new employees to stand around most of the time.
You all make a big deal of how clean & original the Camaro is underneath, so it seems like it would make an ideal candidate for a restoration. Also, you're mention the engine is blown, but that doesn't always mean it can't be rebuilt. I'm just going by what I'm hearing and it sounds like the car should be restored, and the block be saved if possible. Because it looks to be nice to be turned into another hot rodded Camaro. YMMV
Keep the slots on the back and find some matching for the front. Lose the vinyl roof paint her silver tail light panel semi gloss black. 350-400 horse small block beef up the rear or get 12 bolt 410 gears go have a blast driving it.
like the fact they showed much more about the process of tearing it down. and then reviewing options and why they have to think about what to do with it. good times
I’d like to see Chase be in charge of a vehicle from start to finish. Make the decisions. No Richard ideas. To see how he makes out on a deal of his own.
we had that same model with the vinyl top and red paint.way back 1977 or 78 so it was only 6yrs old at the time.i really missed it and I was only 6 or 7 yrs old when my grandpa had it.and what's really amazing is we are one of the only owner of that kind here in Manila Philippines.hope you keep it as your own
It would be cool to see you do something with the Trans Am. Cool cars. I got a 81 Turbo Trans Am Special Edition, WS6 and ordered without t tops. 1of 65 for 1981.
"See" is not the correct word if you're not doing much. I say full-blown Restomod. Rare Camaro. Split bumper, cool grill and I love the minimalistic rear window. Strip the vinyl top in the process. Could be the coolest build in years for Gas Monkey.
I would love to see you guys do a 68-70 Nova SS. One of my absolute favorite classic hot rods and I think you guys could build a one of a kind that would bring in a ton of profit if sold at auction.
I'm one of those Camaro Guys. This is Amazing! RR, do clean it up. Make it a turn key. Make it a Good Daily Rider. These were a Casualty of a Union Strike. Many were Crushed! You will make the most$$ with little input.
you can't really mess with electric vehicles, yet... everything is so precise. especially on that hummer with the 4 wheel steering and regenerate braking, can't just slap on a lift kit unfortunately
The truck has a button that lifts it 3 inches now. There will be a software update where the truck will lift itself 6 inches. It's called 'extraction mode'.
The genius of what Henry Ford did was provide an affordable option for "average" citizens. I'm not seeing it with this truck, not seeing it with Teslas' either. The only vehicle I see on the horizon that might fit that bill is the Aptera, if they can get it launched and hold a good price entry point like they claim they can. It's also has regenerative aspect to that vehicle to where if you just leave it in the sun it recharges itself.
I think a simple little 2 door hatchback with around a 200 mile range at a pricepoint of around 4k would be awesome. Just a second commuter car for most families. If 1/3 of all the cars on the roads in cities were like that, the air would clear up and gas prices would drop because of supply and demand.
A friend of mines dad ,bought him a perfect 69 ss/rs z28 . This was in the 80's , you know back in the day! My friend had done destroyed it a month later
i would get rid of the engine in it and take and swap in a 4.8 vortec with factory specs no need to change the tranny or anything put on some rack and pinion and go 4 wheel discs and leave the rest alone
Well, I am getting used to the new crew. I sort of like the different ideas that they come up with. I know that I was getting tired of Aarons way of always doing the same thing to cars. I like seeing one big build going on to follow but Ilike the fast fi;xem and flip deals too.
I like how you guys find cool cars like the camaro and try to get them running rather than just take them to the garage and just left them for another time love the shows keep up the good work
Particularly when it is a brand new car or something they paid someone else to do. I think its cool to say that when you actually build it or customize it with your own hands though.
$30 a month in electricity is just not accurate. But the only way electric cars and trucks will become popular is if numerous companies make cars around the $20,000 price point which isn't going to happen anytime soon.
I think hybrids are the best option. The new ford maverick hybrid is pretty incredible as it gets 40 mpg city and is under $30k. I owned a prius once and the hybrid system in incredibly efficient. You drivetrain doubles as an efficient gas generator when you plug a high power inverter, to the battery. You can also run the 8 for 8 hours, with the engine only running 30 minutes total.
It was ....03, or 07. GM 1500 had that rear steer thing going on but it was SOOO expensive to fix when it broke that dealerships wouldnt/couldn't warranty it...I think.
Richard you could send all your guys to a pick and pull yard with a budget and 2 days to collect all the parts to fix the trans am up into something cool and make money on the car , RU-vid videos, and advertisements in the videos for stuff used on the build. I think It could be a cool then to take it to a drag strip and let everyone make a few runs in it after its done. Make it into a a entry level drag/Street car on a Budget with Nitrous!!!!
It's pretty nice being in the Metro Detroit area because I would see the EV Hummers almost daily driving around during testing and development long before most have seen one!
@@theconsultant8732 yes one of their factories is here as well. I see TONS of pre-production vehicles around by me long before their even announced driving around in full camo. The most recent I've seen is the new Ram Dakota I've seen a couple times as well as Bronco Raptors
wondering If they used the same setup like the 06 quadsteer and those trucks were fun honestly specially when converted to diesel and able to crab walk haha
