This was a cool interview. Richard took his opportunity and turned Gas Monkey into an empire. Respect to him for everything he’s accomplished. No easy feat that’s for damn sure. 👊💯💪🙏🏻
After seeing Rawlings on couple different shows now, he just seems like a genuinely fun guy that easy to talk to and has great stories. Bert really did a good job on letting him talk this show. Awesome episode
I think his youtube show is awesome too. He's candid just like this; you can tell they don't edit fun stuff out. I love how he shows what a real haggle is like too.
I met Richard in Dallas when we went to visit Texas he's a great guy he came out of the garage just to say hi to us it took a bunch of pictures he even took a picture of my shirt almost got me naked 😂
What a great podcast, Richard is a great guy and had great foresight to what he wanted to do,. Bert see if you can get Heavy D Sparks and Diesel Dave on for a Podcast 🤘
Thanks for this show Bert. I'm sitting at home water logged in central Florida contemplating my existence, and this was a phenomenal interview with a much needed mood boost. Now it's time to chase some dreams and make shit happen.
RR is Great in the interviews I seen; as well as: his show here on RU-vid! But, I couldn't watch his show on Discovery so I happy have given his stuff and go. I guess for me, it was the goons he had working in the shop and/or their antics? Because I remember watching /enjoying the Discovery anytime RR was out looking/buying cars with one of his friends or business partners. And I remember having to Fast Forward through the rest until I gave up and removed the show from my DVR series record list... Great Job Bert, you and RR appeared to really enjoy each others company and that always a joy to see!
Podcast idea for Richard: comedian, celebrities, professional athletes. Talk about their car knowledge (more in depth than top gear) all while cruising in their favorite or dream cars
Glad you had this dude on. The show has taken an about face finally and is it's very best now. Thanks for featuring RR. Staff is a little hmmm je Nas sait pas. But perhaps will wear on. Take care brother from the flatlands of Alberta cheers.
28:55 Bert is not describing being humble, he doesn't know what words mean. What he's describing is vulnerable. We need to support him during this tough October.
I fucking loved this episode, thanks burt and rich for the kick ass episode, and what burt tried to say the whole show was thanks Richard for being a normal dude with a abnormal will to achieve the same with burt for us normal folks we can relate to a millionaire like yourselves, keep up the good work.
Richard is a stand up guy. He stopped what he was doing when he was in Miami for gumball when he heard his name called, walked over and took a picture with my son. Best of luck to him
If anyone is curious about the black buffalo snuff, I got some with Bert's code. It's honestly fairly priced, think cope or Skoal price. It packs better than any alternative and the blood orange is really good and the nicotine is noticable. Will be buying again. So thanks bert
I remember Talking to RR at a Truck Show in Greenville, MS back in 2001. We had gone over to see what all was going on over where they had set up with a Trampoline and had folks jumping. We asked how they were able to ride/transport their cars in what we all know now as a "Totter-home / Stacker Trailer" ? He was one of if not the first custom shops or individuals in the truck show seen who was going that big so we were thinking maybe we were missing something like owning another big company , personal wealth, or my favorite a insurance settlement check? lol But no, no this guy didn't know us from Sam and didn't hesitate to tell us that he probably pays less each month than most guys with a new tuck and open deck car trailer. Then he gave us the numbers and how to structure the type of loan he had and the other details tax breaks ect. I don't remember everything but he was happy share the real deal on stuff just like Bert does on many things. I guess that kind of openness really speaks to a guys level of confidence of their self worth. That's surely not the only one ingredient that goes into making great dudes like these two but I can say with confidence that whatever the recipe calls for RR had the all long before any TV shows because we got a taste first hand back in the day. And it still fees good to think back on right now, which stands to remind me of the kind of dude I'd like to be personally. Thanks Richard
The '32 Fords are Bad Ass!! I'm the same age as Richard. We grew up in a generation where cars were all muscle. Hard and Fast. You take a stock Model A, chop it or just lower it, big tires, (like the Green Cricket), those cars just look cool. Even in the Rat Rod stage, unpainted, they still look cool.
You know I never released how much Richard looks just like Bruce Campbell! And now I can't get that out of my head? WTF! How have I never noticed this? AM I RIGHT? Or this weed is a hell'va lot better than thought? NO! HE LOOKS JUST LIKE BRUCE! WOW! MIND BLOWN & pitcher Richard in a pea green Donk doing 150 mph on the side of the road getting a ticket? I WONT TO SEE THAT DAM DASH CAM ON THAT TRAFFIC STOP!
If you guys haven't seen Bert live it's a must! Shout out to the Are you Garbage crew as well. Just watched them last night it was amazing! The Paso show was lit
I've seen the gumball Run come through Vermont several different years. I'm pretty sure I saw Richard Rollins car, at a Burlington Hotel, South Burlington to be technical which is now DoubleTree not sure what the name of it was then
Love or hate Richard, this man has built an empire on sheer hard work and not giving a shit what you think about him. He built a ‘street drag car’ and raced Big Chief with a proven ‘street drag car’ and held his own with what they built. People criticizing him for not driving it was ignorant. Gas Monkey was just a 1 lift shop less than 15 years ago. Now it is world wide.
I told myself I wouldn't watch this because I always thought Richard was a ass, but I love Bert! But I'm glad I did I though , NOW I got a hole new respect for Richard after seeing this! It's hard to tell your side of the story if your social media is under a gag order in your contact?
I grew up with my dad and my uncles watching him. He should do a real grease monkey podcast. Just in the shop or garage with a case of beer talking and debating about different cars and random shit! And yes, I know his brand is Gas Monkey. In my Uper family, we're grease monkeys.
You guys are talking about the beer cracking opening sound I'm the same way with champagne and I drink it all the time and everyone is like what are you celebrating I'm like nothing I'm just drinking LOL
