On the second video, maybe because the position and the low speed to record the throw, tori is is sweeping uke’s leg at the last moment. That movement wouldn’t be technically correct since Tai Otoshi is Te Waza with the otoshi component. The right leg must be firm on the ground and execute the throw just by doing the tsuri-komi movement (lift and pull) and moving your body down, not sweeping uke’s leg. With that kumi kata and that leg sweep, from techical point of view, the movement resembles more a Yama Arashi with a very open leg position than a Tai Otoshi. Of course that throw can be efective in combat but tori must not loose its balance by lifting his leg a bit doing that sweep and of course must place the foot firm on the groung again in a position that uke don’t damange tori’s leg when falling.

Great, great, I can just drink this up, I’m literally fresh out of my first lesson and studying my first throw taiotoshi. The guy I was paired with did it much more the second way but I was doing the first way, or trying to.
