The seats look as hard as the ones on our Citaros. The fabric covers remind me of the old school TIBS 0405G Habit seat covers. I guess it works well in European climates such as Germany but not so over here in tropical SG. Plus, they're dust collectors too.
In layman's terms, Singapore's triple door double-decker buses are nearly identical to Berlin's, they just convert from a right-hand drive to a left-hand drive with the doors on the left, slightly different seat layout on the lower decks, and the installation of bus cards tapping
They are airconditoned, but because BVG sucks at maintaining them it's either switched off or broken or not working as it should (I rode in one of these on a not particularly hot summer day, and the aircon was so messed up it alternated from blasting ice cold air into my neck to switching off every 5 minutes until it got hot and stuffy . So during summer heatwaves (or simple a rainy day) you can open a sauna club in there...these were the first buses to be equipped with windscreen wipers on the upper deck, but these were useless - the windows would fog up quickly in even light rain so you couldn't see a thing anyway :)
The main difference to the ones on Singapore is, these are built completely by MAN (chassis and body), the first batches were assembled in the old Neoplan plant which MAN took over, after that, assembly was done by BVG in Berlin themselves under supervision of MAN. But they suffer from poor built quality, rust issues and are now gradually taken out of service, as they are between 17 and 13 years old.
I thout the double deckers are just operating here in England. I drive the deckers for living, sometimes Alexander Denis 400 and occasionaly Wright Gemini.
I would say, both are great innovations, but I'd prefer the one in Berlin as it is more accessible due to it being low floor. I wonder if any country has taken up Alexander Enviro500 3doors yet.
Berlin has ordered 200 Enviro500 with 3dr/2 stairs to replace the ageing MAN...so far a handful have been delivered, the rest will follow this and next year. Those will be the last diesel powered double deckers to be ordered, after that, only EV.
Interior wise seems much better & elderly friendly compared to Singapore 3 Door MAN A95 buses🤔SG ones are messy with seats place in random places especially at the back. However i do prefer singapore MAN A95 3 Door Seats & Aircon compared to the ADL E500 3 Door. Btw the seats remind me of the seats found on 5888h & Yutong E12/DD buses but slightly different
