@@scottanderson2617 At the top of the back swing you will feel most of the weight in the trail leg yes. We still want to shift weight to the lead leg early in the down swing though
The thing which Andy does so well that I have struggled with all my golfing life is, moving from the top of the backswing to the finish of the follow through, in one flowing motion. Andy looks as though it is effortless and just "collecting" the ball on the way. To me, achieving this seamless motion is one of the things that I would find the most valuable. Any tips please? Your lessons are so clear and simple to follow that I think you might provide the key! Thanks for all your content. I have the app but have been injured so not tried it yet.
Andy, you Guys are great but it's a shame you can't get in a time machine, go forward 30 years and then try those turns. As a 70 yr old can honestly say the body is nowhere near as flexible as it was 30/40 yrs ago. So how about tips for us oldies.
The leg work in this can certainly help with that. They key thing is to stay within your limits of physicality. Opening the trail foot at address can certainly help too for more turn.
This is a power packed lesson with 3 of the best tips and drills that can actually make the swing repeatable, consistent and, more importantly, comfortable / instinctive. Thanks much 🙏🏽👍🏽
I have the same problem. I tend to get that good turn with my irons, but with the driver that makes me hit more down on the ball (great for my irons, obviously not so much with the driver)
Have been working on this for years after watching vids of Hogan and seeing the same head backward move from one of our best (and longest) club players. I had always heard "keep the head still" (certainly helpful for putting, chipping, pitching) but robs distance and smoothness for longer clubs like the driver; may also be harmful to the lower back. My biggest problem now is releasing the club without hooking or getting the big push to the right.
Outstanding, Andy. And really well explained - both the what and why. These tips are coming at the perfect time for me, and appear so much more doable for my skill level. My overarching mission these days is to stay in posture and balance, and these tips fit nicely into that. Balance is something you and Piers stress so much. Thank you!
Another great video Andy, thank you. Very well explained, in simple steps. I'm ok with the first two steps, the turn on the backswing, etc, but I'm not sure I release it properly, even though I usually hit it straight or with a draw. Perhaps I do? Please keep up the great content.
Never thought of pointing the butt of the club toward the target, I always just thought of pointing my belt buckle toward the target. 10:49 more than likely is the culprit to the dreaded chicken wing. Can't wait to try some dry swings and test it out! Thanks Andy!
Honestly tip 3 is one of the biggest wow moments I’ve ever had watching golf videos. I’ve always struggled with the concept of releasing and couldn’t understand how to do it correctly. Showing the difference between flipping and releasing as you did has made it so simple and clear on what I need to do now. Really exciting! Presumably this works the same for irons too? Thank you!
Thanks for this amazing video! You guys are breaking down what I think are complicated moves, to an easy to understand and to follow teaching! Do you have an one-on-one iron video like this? Thank you both for your awesome, easy to follow videos and sharing them with us!
Im the first part of the swing, i was told to keep the butt end of the club inside where the ball is, bit you are showing it out towards the ball in front of the right foot?
Without a doubt rotation, I neglect the trail leg and hadn't considered straightening it up. Although I am guilty of doing all 3 depending on the round.. thanks guys !
@@meandmygolf. Just played 18 yesterday and swinging all the way through with the finish plus starting with straight arms while rotating back helped like 75% of my drives go far and straight! Now, off to chipping!
Great video, very helpful. The turning of the shoulder was eye-opening. Question, do I want my lead shoulder to turn and align the same way (near the trail foot) with my irons?
Similar yes. We just want to make sure we stay a little more centred with irons as we want the low point to be after the ball. It's not the end of the world if we move slightly off the ball in the back swing with the driver as we want to sweep it.
It all depends on the person and what they struggle with. For someone who leaves the face really open through the ball then tip 3 can work with irons yes. Tip 1 you have to be careful with as we want a more centred pivot. You can get away with moving slightly off the ball with the driver as we want to hit up and the ball is teed up. Obviously we want a downward hit with an iron so staying centred (with good rotation) is so key.
@@meandmygolf. thanks - i deally in front of a mirror - I played in a pro am recently and the pro told me to work on my pivot so that's what ill do. appreciate the reply guys - the videos are great and very easy to understand
