I have a band saw, 2 piece sander 5 and belt sanding, Table saw, two of the yellow boxes set up for different projects, drill press and many clamp to hold items that might move when I am cutting or drilling. My wife purchased all of this so the honey do list was not a burden but so much fun. She used many of them when I was at work.

Nice simple instructions. Clear visuals. But the best thing about this? Hand tools! So many YT woodworking videos rely heavily on pro power tools it's impossible for us every day folks. What a joy to see a simple but clever idea rendered by hand. Perfection. 👍

One thing I don't get, I got the exact countersink suggested and the exact #8 woodscrews. The pilot hole the drill bit made was the size of the 8 screw. It just fell right through. Can't grab the wood. What's the deal? Update: I read the package of the drill bit. It says adjust for screw size. I'm an idiot. Thanks!

The pot lid weight on the door WILL pull the screws out of the door hinge. It happened to me in about 2 weeks. I had to pack screw holes with gorilla glue and tooth picks, and then re-install hinges when dry. Neat idea, but don't do it.

Why not use longer screws instead of your standard
@epenaloza52
@epenaloza52 4 года назад
@TerraTN well it depends on the style of doors, if they are shaker style doors then yes they are, but id they're panel doors then you have a pretty good amount of wood were the screw will bite in to it... and from what he's talking about I believe it's the hinge, so instead of using the ¾" screw he could go for a longer screw even an 1¼ screw would be good enough as I doubt the lids weight that much, it also depends on the style of hinge he has
@pocu321
@pocu321 Год назад
I've tried making the lid racks twice now and the wood splits. I'm using pine. Is it because of the type of wood I'm using? Or the screw I'm using? Or do I absolutely have to go buy poplar?

I'm seeing that now. I moved and downsized everything, but after buying the basics for this project, I now want a full bench, table saw, clamps, random orbital sander, and the list goes on. But I have a new rule: only buy tools when I NEED them. So the sanding block and manual hand miter saw, and concrete floor for my work area will do for now. :)

With lots of people living in flats or small apartments, this is so much more helpful. Thanks and keep up the good work
