Sweetwater's metal maestro Nick Bowcott shows you how to play three guitar riffs that sound much more difficult than they actually are.

I was at the Sweetwater music store in Fort Wayne, IN a few weeks ago test driving some Left Handed Gibson Les Paul guitars. When I was jamming in the private room Nick walked by, turned around, and gave me the nod which I read as, ROCK YOU MOTHER F'KN SOUTHPAW!!! After buying the guitar, during my drive home I received a call from Nick!!!!!!!!! He was super cool! We talked about gear, Jim Marshall, and Sweetwater's President and CEO, Chuck Surack. Nick was just a regular musician who digs metal and gear! That call was the icing on the cake from my trip!! Also if you have never been to the Sweetwater store/warehouse in Ft Wayne I HIGHLY recommend it!! With close to 45 years of playing It was like no other music store I've been to EVER!!

I work for another music retail chain, but I’d give ANYTHING to work for Sweetwater. They have so much more passion for music than my company

That lick you played at 4:13 has always been one of my favorite things to play! Simple but sounds awesome! Or even where you play the b and high e string together aside from separately. Classic solo lick.

I'm a Blues player so most of this is a different flavor of old school for me, which is more of a compliment to your teaching than my playing. I wonder how most people think about it.

For those who don't know, Nick Bowcott was the guitarist for Grim Reaper, one of the most influential (and in my opinion, one of the best) NWOBHM bands to come out of the 1980s. This man shreds yet stays humble.

Scratch that. Turned it up, a little practice, I can do it. --------------- The last one, I'm thinking I can't do tapping on my neck. It a 9.5" radius. For tapping I think I need a 12" radius.

I wont say strangely because thats kinda an insult but honestly nick bowcott was really one of the 1st 3 men to inspire me to play guitar as i was awed by his solo watching the " see you in hell" video

Nice tone! What model amp and effects?
@sweetwater
@sweetwater 6 лет назад
Thanx! The tone was guitars straight into a Marshall CODE25… all FX were "in" the amp. If I remember correctly, I tweaked one of my personal programs called "Wylde Chylde" - it's basically a model of an OD pedal driving a JCM800 preamp model with a smidgen of programmed Chorus (slow and subtle), Stadium Reverb and Tape Echo. The power-amp and cab models used were a Marshall 100W and a 1960V respectively. Hope that helps! Cheers, Nick

Can't believe the sound you get out of that little amp. I think I am going to have to pick one of these up. Thanks for sharing!

The thing is you saying you're just a teenager doesn't mean anything, it just shows you're ignorant.
