ExpressLRS is a great radio protocol for FPV and it's becoming quite popular. This video presents 3 easy methods to bind your ELRS receiver to your radio. These 3 methods are not the only ones possible, they are the 3 I most use, or find to be easier for me.
The recording was done in a way that common errors are shown, and troubleshooting plus fixing are also present.

Good info mate. Don't forget the bind process. Most newer elrs receivers can enter the bind phrase be powering on and off the FC 3 times in quick succession. This will force the FC to enter bind mode. Don't bother typing bind_rx into the CLI of betaflight....this simply wont work. Also make sure that the ELRX RX firmware is the sameas the ELRS TX firmware. If not then they will also not bind.

I just bought the geprecdark star 20 and y cannot flash it. When i tried to do it trough wifi mode, it appears that the receiver is beta fpv 2.4 nano. I dont know what firmware set up, if it is elsr beta 2.4 nano or geprec 2.4 nano as the manual said. What do you suggest?

So good to find someone familiar with all that stuff around ELRS and binding! 🙂 Nevertheless I still have problems to bind from a TX16S with an ELRS Ranger module to a PWM-receiver (Radiomaster ER6GV for planes). Beside other methods I found something with 3 times powering up the receiver for a second. I had no success doing so. What I don't understand is the concept of the binding procedure since it seems to be very different from binding in the standard rc model realm which I know quite well and every thing is clear. Is there somewhere a comprehensive description in the www? I already succeeded in WiFi connecting to the receiver and got to the point where I was able to flash the firmware.bin into the receiver. Finally I didn't flash it because a warning rose that the current target is UNIFIED_ESP32_2400_RX and the upload is UNIFIED_ESP8285_2400_RX. ... so many questions.

Hey. The best source of information is the ELRS wiki. There’s everything there. The error you are getting means you selected the wrong model for the RX. Be careful with your choose and make sure is the correct one by looking at the manufacturers website.

the most important word to mention is " To bind radio and receiver is first they should RUN THE SAME FIRMWARE VERSION!

Darien, the problem is that this is not always true. You can have a difference in the minor and they can still bind; I.e 3.2.1-TX can bind with. 3.2.0-RX, and when the devs went from 2.x to 3.x i asked if we could assume that mayors will never bind, and their answer was: up until now this is true, but is not 100% sure that will be the case in the future. So, yes, it’s a good practice to have everything in the same version, but not 100% necessary

Hi, does the 2nd method work if i have flashed ELRS o R9M 2019 module and having R9MX receiver with an F4 fc. ? kind of stuck with binding. the factory firmware that came with R9M TX doesnt seem to work by pressing the button on the TX module. Kindly suggest.

Hello, I'm sorry I'm not very familiar with reflashed R9M modules/methods. But if the module already has ELRS I would expect this method of betaflight passthrough to work. Otherwise I will try to reflash one more time the ELRS software and try again.

If i try to use nano rx alredy binded to another FC, with my new FC, i must reflash it? Pressing button boot on rx dosnt any reaction, no conection with my radio, but when i resoldering rx to my old FC rx starts work with radio normaly

no. You can just move a bound RX from one FC to another FC and it will stay bound.

I usually fly on crossfire and for me first impressions are terrible. I do not know the firmware version and it should not be a main point before binding... Imagine that you are on remote area without laptop and wifi (you phone is out of battery)... How can I realize, what firmware version and RX type is there? My friend just left me couple of ELRS drones and I have bought a Radiomaster Pocket. There is no way to bind the RX without usb cable and laptop on the field... Is this a magic? That is a disaster. How it is possible to make it so complicated and also frustrating, it should be just one button binding...

Well, there’s the way to get the device in binding mode by disconnecting 3 times the battery in a short time, so your very peculiar example would be covered by that. How do you know the model? Very easy, you let the device enter WiFi mode and open the web page and it gives you the information you are looking for and much more, and now, since ELRS 3.4, you will also be able to bind with a button like crossfire. Now think about any other protocol provider that has listened to the community and provides new features and changes this fast…

Got a elrs module for my reranis q7 s. Udated it's firmware. Im trying to bind to a pavo 25 v2. It's also updated and bound. I set everything up with a phrase and assigned number matching. I know im bound because there is a C on my radio, I got a solid blue light on the drones elrs module and i head my radio announce telementery on and off when i plug or unplug power. But i don't have input from the sticks on betaflight. What could it be?

The most probable problem is that either you have to/tx cables inverted, or that you haven’t selected the right por on the port tabs for your serial receiver. Last thing is to check you are using serial-crossfire as you connection protocol in the receiver tab

pavo 25 v2 cinewhoop and my Teranis qx7. I followed all the steps in the ELRS quick start website and got as far as binding. My transmitter says im bound and shows a C indicates connected as well as telemetry signal . My wiring diagram that came with the pavo indicates UART3 and so i set that in Betaflight with Serial Uart and CRSF. Both TX and RX have the latest FW 3.3.2. Phrase set and even assigned Model number. Ran lua script on TX. I've set the internal module off and set the external to On. I've set my Model and switches to arm. I powered my radio on then power the pavo, LED on the reciever blinks a few times and goes solid, radio says telementery recovered but no sticks on betaflight and no switched moving. What am i doing wrong? Thanks

@@Monkywings, sounds like the only thing you haven't double checked is the physical connection. Check that TX -> RX and RX->TX, and not TX -> TX, RX->RX as many with this issue does.

@@NordFPV Solved. The manufacturers diagram says the Uart is 3. I followed the Rx wire to the FC and it was actually uart6. Switched my Uart to 6 and my guy is airborne again. Thanks

I Belice that the QX7 has a standard JR bay which you can use to connect an external ELRS module.

What if I uncheck the box in the Auto Wifi On Interval? How can I reset that and enable wifi?

I don’t think auto wifi disables wifi. Auto wifi is to connect the RX to your wifi network. But even if it was, you should use another method that doesn’t require wifi to “fix” the problem, like betaflight pass through.

@@SunriseWaterMedia The target and options are chosen before you flash anything, so despite I'm not 100% sure I understand your question, you should be able to chose the right target, the right options and all without wifi enable. I even think there are some old ELRS RX which don't have wifi at all, and things works pretty well for them as well.

@@NordFPV Oh, I just realized that the quad that the wifi doesn't work on, has an spi elrs receiver. I wonder if that is the reason I don't see a wifi network on it. I guess I need to use betaflight to do the flashing and setting of the binding phrase. This is all so confusing, but I'm slowly learning! Thanks!

@@SunriseWaterMedia my friend. SPI ELRS are a different beast. You can't update a SPI firmware like you do with a serial base. You need to upgrade the whole betaflight firmware of the FC to update the ELRS firmware.

im not gonna lie, i bloody hate Elrs now. been trying to bind and spi elrs quad, and nothing but headache. Thank god i still kept my crossfire!

@@NordFPV you have no idea brother. Iv just got my still brand new happymodel baseline out. With the elrs SPI board. Been trying for 4 hours, and cannot get the damm thing to bind to my betafpv 2.4 micro at all. It's getting annoying now. Never ever had this problem with crossfire. Any help is much appreciated 🙏🏽

*you really should change the title to "3 way of binding ELRS with a binding phrase (ONLY)" or it is quite misleading 😒 ELRS is a total dumpster fire to setup today, and I would tell noob folks to use crossfire a thousand times over this BS system. Binding should only take 1 or 2 steps at most, and never involve this kind of foolery and juggling nightmare interfaces in multiple programs. It also doesn't help when everyone is so toxic, unhelpful, uninformed and out right mean in all the support forums.
