Kelly, I just planned on doing this technique when I discovered your video. My concern was if the lettering would bleed because of the fabric content in watercolor paper. It seems like, if I use the smoother side of the watercolor paper, and make sure the background I create is totally dried, then bleeding should not be an issue. So glad I saw this video today. Serendipity!!

Hi Kelly! Fantastic video. I love how relaxing it is watching the colors move with the water. I can't wait to try some of these techniques in my card making. A tip for a really white watercolor paper- the Tim Holtz Ranger watercolor paper, sold in precut packs to about 4"x5" is the whitest I have found! I have heard that you can get Ranger watercolor paper online that is just as white, but not precut to the smaller size, though I have not tried that size myself. Hope that helps! HI Michelle! Thanks for the info about the TH watercolour paper. I think I have some but it feels a little too rough for brush pens. Maybe I have the wrong stuff lol.

I absolutely love this!!!! I'm sure i heard you mention drying some of the pieces with heat. What IS the best way to dry, for both water color paper and cardstock? Oh youve given me so many ideas!!!! Here i was feeling a bit hoggish for secretly wanting the ENTIRE set of Tombows, since 1) i already have almost every KC pen/marker made, 2) my hand lettering hasn't come that far yet, and 3) im not necessarily artistic, to do much more than play with them. Well forget that attitude!!! I think i need them all, more than ever!😂😂😂Thank you for this beautiful video and these great ideas.💜

I let my wet mediums air dry naturally, but if I want to speed things up then I use a heat gun. Any heat gun will do, but it can alter the effect of the paint when it's dry. Have fun! It's a super easy way to make backgrounds.

Hi what kind of white pen or paint did you use on the Dream Big paper ? I always have hard time getting white colors to show on watercolor paper

I've had the most luck with the Posca paint pen extra fine. Sharpie also had a paint pen but now they are all oil based. Sometimes you can use the Uniball signs white as well. Have you tried PH Martins bleed proof white ink? You need a brush or calligraphy pen with it but it's great opaque white ink.

Make sure the watercolor is very dry. Also try a hot press Fabriano Studio paper which is quite dense. Sometimes you have to draw two layers of white ink. Let the first layer dry. @@arrobaliz

That one was the scribble onto the palette and then spray palette with water. Next lay down the paper on top of the palette (or flip palette onto paper).

You could glue a clear piece of acetate to a piece of white card :) (you can find clear plastic like that in a lot of food packaging)

Some calligraphy pads can take a little water, but I usually use the Bristol paper or smooth hot press watercolor paper

HI Keyley, yes you can definitely use a laminated piece of paper. Hopefully it's a white piece of paper.

Yes you can use any plastic surface. I have also used a sandwich baggie with a piece of white paper inside (so I can see the colours on it)
