tarja had more elegance and more melodic voice like a fairytale seems that no female singer could replace her but floor is like a gift from heavens she totally fill the gap she is more powerfull and gives a new direction to the band they are both great with their unique styles depent the song and personal style
Tarja is what I love most about Nightwish. She is unbelievable and you can't compare anyone to her. I still really like Nightwish w/ Floor or Anette. But Tarja is something else. She brings something unique and is the ultimate and definitive Symphonic Metal singer ever.
Who is listening after Marco leaving as well? 💔 This was the best line up, the only Nightwish I knew, even I barely listened to them after Tarja, I felt hearbroken again today (and damn, I'm old for this things 😅). Mabye this is the one step closer to legends reunion one day, Tuomas, Tarja, Marco, Jukka, Emppu. Thank you guys for the amazing impact in my life. Mabye again, this is not the end of Nightwish, but the memories of this golden era will remain forever.
i doubt tarja will return..especially the way the breakup happened. But I also hope too.... who knows. Everyone is a bit older now and has given the breakup a final resting place in their hearts. It's a painful stain but perhaps the respect they all have for each other as musicians will be enough to get them over this hurdle.
@@greyfox3773 I think that Tarja miss her Nightwish friends and now she's Marko's friend again (because I think that didn't talked since she left the band), but they were really closer and interacting with each other in a festival in 2017 even more than in Nightwish. Maybe she just want Tuomas to tell her he's sorry. What he did to her was so heartbreaking. 😭
@@AmericanThunder Ok. But let us not discuss Mick Jagger's "American accent" when he sings. Or Bob Marley's Jamaican English accent when he sings. Rolling Stones and reggae fans may feel really slighted. 😉.
@@VersusARCH Seriously dude, I don't think you are a native speaker of English like me too. A native speaker of English don't quite mock the accents of non-native speakers of English because they know there are several dialects and accents of English in the English speaking world. Bet you can understand Cockney better than Tarja's Finnish English accent with some words in English and some in American pronounciations more than me. Cheers :)
techinically Kai is the best. You could say that hes one of the best in the whole world. But Jukkas playing was something different, it had power in it
@@juhos30000 Exactly...Kai is technically on the highest Level of playing drums....I love jukkas playing because of his power and emotions he brings with it...fantastic to watch him playing on this concert
Totally agree, Kai is an incredible skilled drummer but Jukka's energy is what is missing now to Nightwish. Just imagine him playing The Greatest Show on Earth!
This one and the Lowlands one. Also one of their first ones, think at Tavastia club. On YT as a sound only (no video) featuring the temporary bassist before Sami Vanska. All super concerts, although shame Technology wasn’t great in those early days so sound/video not totally great, but nevertheless still worth watching/listening to early Nightwish years showcasing how good they really were in those early young days.
Every Nightwish song is flooded with comments on Floor vs. Tarja and its completely ridiculous. Both are very different singers with different abilities and vocal ranges, but both are incredible voices and both can be appreciated for making music so much better with the unreal talents that both possess. Nightwish fans are spoiled in having 2 of the very best singers of this generation, most bands are lucky to have one decent one. Anette was talented so no disrespect to her but both Floor and Tarja are out of this world voices.
You are so right. I do love the duality of having them both at different times though, I feel like I get different versions of the same songs, and Ive got a special love for each of their versions, and times when I need to hear one, and times I need to hear the other.
There is nothing wrong in a bit of nostalgia. Also it was nothing wrong with new songs - just personal taste. But it was a mistake to rearrange old hits. It made fans mad about their favorite songs sounding different. On the other hand they could not left songs as is as they could not perform them... A vicious circle
@@fatcarl76, (and also Joanne D) that's one of the best ways I have seen someone put it. We've been given not one, but TWO good versions to choose from, depending on what we're in the mood for. I mostly prefer Floor, but I love them both. Even Anette, despite not having their vocal range, does do very good on Bye. Bye Beautiful and Amaranth.
You're so correct. I love both Tarja and Floor. I just prefer Tarja cause these songs were written for her to sing, but Floor does a great job singing them too. I'm not at all a bitter tarja fan either lol I love both.
Dear whoever is reading this, I wish there was a way for everyone to erase all sadness and stress and just replace it with happiness. Nothing in life is ever easy, but what's important is that YOU keep going! Youre worthy of love and happiness, never allow anyone to tell you otherwise! I wish all of you plenty of health and strenght during these tough times. You are loved, you are strong, you got this! Never forget that! Sending much Love over from Germany ♥️♥️
This just blows me away every time...regardless of the events which transpired afterwards, the way they performed this concert was just spot on, perfect, and everything in this song just screams epic. Love it.
I just realized, after going after all the officially written material over the incident afterwards and Tuomas statetment another time in how this music was deeply personal to him, that it was most likely a love song for Tarja. Which made his gestures at the beginning even more heartbreaking and his bitterness regarding the whole ordeal in the beginning make so much more sense.
@@eliotslater2371 Not necessarily, from what I remember from the open letter regarding them parting ways, she was acting like a "diva" and always being late to rehearsals, recordings etc. So they've had enough. But it has been a long time, I can't remember 100%.
@@Fireslasher6 from what i remember was that she and her husband had some side project that didn't match with the band's schedule... but most of them has side project so i don't understand why only Tarja had to be kicked out. In the other hand, they did the same thing to Anette Ozlon, but didn't even bother to give some explanation. Anette was clear about it, she wasn't even aware that she wasn't part of the bandy anymore. therefore, may be Tarja did something, but the other side are neither completely innocent
Im not convinced he loved her. However after reading through the book once upon a nightwish there were some things going on in the band that would understandably make it hard to function. Even some of the band members said I had no idea this was going on until after the book was published. So there is an element of there were these problems that they couldn't or wouldn't address and it just got out of hand.
@@swordsmen8856 oh he did. And not like a puppy love, but a deep forlorn love, especially as misplaced as it was. Or rather, not reprocicated. So happy for Tuomas that he found Johanna. With that heart, he definitely deserved someone as deep as him.
Tarja is an excellent singer that goes without saying. But there is more about performance than just a singing technique. Tarja always felt quite shy and her performance often been flat without much emotion. When Floor came in, she took these already great songs and made them better by adding emotions. She is not afraid to be sexy and almost seductive on stage. Her legendary performance at Wacken 2013 was a complete master class in stage presence.
Ever felt away with me Just once that all I need Entwined in finding you one day Ever felt away without me My love, it lies so deep Ever dream of me Would you do it with me Heal the scars and change the stars Would you do it with me Turn loose the heaven within I'd take you away Castaway on a lonely day Bosom for a teary cheek My song can but borrow your grace Ever felt away with me Just once that all I need Entwined in finding you one day Ever felt away without me My love, it lies so deep Ever dream of me (Dream of me) Come out, come out wherever you are So lost in your sea Give in, give in for my touch For my taste for my lust Ever felt away with me Just once that all I need Entwined in finding you one day Ever felt away without me My love, it lies so deep Ever dream of me Your beauty cascaded on me In this white night fantasy (Dream of me)
Nobody can't sing this song like she, even better singer like her, this is unic song for unic person or singer like she is. All songs in that era(for me best era ever of NW)fits only Tarja magical voice and atitude. Respect for Tuomas he was the brain of band, but she breathed the soul and life in that all songs...
I feel for him but I feel more for Tarja... performing her heart out not knowing what was about to come. The way she was kicked out was a stab in the back. They coud've ended things in a more honest way.
@@pintex666 probably because the song is real. The lyrics are relatable and the sound is beautiful so it touches the soul in a way that is hard to describe.
After Tarja left the band, i watched this dvd soo many times. And then, I could understand your tears in this music ... I also cried with you. I still do!
My friend only liked motorhead. Judas priest. Ted Nugent. Then I showed him this. Tarja is really beautiful but she sings even better. He was blown away. Go figure. I introduced him to motorhead too!
Fiquei muito feliz de abrir os comentários de um vídeo de 12 anos atrás com um comentário Brasileiro postado a 10 dias atrás. Principalmente com essa maravilha de música, ainda mais por toda a carga emocional agregada ao final desse show
That was a good concert, and this is an awesome song. It is hard to believe it is so old already. Would this classify as classic rock? Ha Ha ha ha. This is the Nightwish I like. It is just not the same now in 2024.
Pure magic!!! Floor is good, but this song was written for Tarja as a vocalist and as a beloved woman, Tuomas put so many emotions in this song, Tarja's perfomance is the proof of incredible collaboration of both
Yeah, i'm so in love Tarja's voice... but did you ever notice, what Emppu Vuorinen makes with his guitar? His riffs and solos are unreal😍 (and so of the other members).
I came to the conclusion a long time ago that if anything happened to Emppu, God forbid, or he chose to leave, Nightwish would be done. Reason being is because, while Tuomas is the mastermind behind the music for the most part, Emppu's signature tone is Nightwish's sound and soul. Willing to bet if any other guitarist ended up taking his place, they wouldn't be able to replicate the atmosphere and emotion he can put out.
Please look (hear) also the drummer. Everybody at this title makes a super job. Job? No, they are living it... and they are genious with that, what they are doing here together... each of them. Sadly, even here the time is going on... so we need to say today: what they have done - in the past? Pure songs... superb reminds!
Floor is awesome, but people seem to forget that this song was written keeping Tarja as the vocal in mind. So to me This version has a different charm. edit: also this version has Marco joining in for a duet at the ending, which is a different kind of epic
Even Floor has admitted that sleeping sun and ever dream were hardest to sing cause Tuomas wrote these ongs for Tarja voice so yeah even floor ubdrestood that she cant copy Tarja
@@MissSylvia67 yes she does but she has said that Ever dreamis the hardest song for her to sing, she had to change that because otherwise she would have sounded too squeaky...her own words
@@MissSylvia67 Personally, I would take it a step further and say I prefer Floor's rendition. Tarja sang it beautifully here and I truly enjoyed it. Where I like Floor better is in the emotional way she vocalizes throughout. She just adds more color, where Tarja sounds clinical, Floor sounds more emotionally connected. But that's just my ears, it is different for everyone.
@@MissSylvia67 she does not sing it as good as Tarj. In heights Floor loses cleaness and it becomes "screamy", which does not happen to Tarja. That does not mean she is worse singer, not at all. Just that this song is so tightly fitted for Tarja. Floor performs it very well, but its not suited for her voice. Its actually amazing how well can Nightwish fit songs from each era to current singer.
Her aura, her stage presence, her accent, her attitude, her everything. There wouldn't be the Nightwish as we know it without her. With here Nightwish was a unique opera metal band and now they are the best symphonic metal band. But not so unique anymore (in my opinion). Don't get me wrong I love Floor but the aura that the band had with Tarja was something unique. Neither Nightwish with goddess Floor nore Tarja in person with her solo projects can create this kind of unique energy anymore. They were just a perfect symbiosis.
This is the best Nightwish concert in terms of song choices, performance and significance in the symphonic metal genre. Showtime Storytime does not comes across a band with gravitas without songs like Kinslayer, Planet Hell, Slaying the Dreamer, Blood Mary's Creek.
@@furioussherman7265 Those songs I mentioned are songs whereby Tuomas did not navel gaze in his lyrics and and commented about things which happened. And performed with conviction by the band. For one, Tarja rendition of Kinslayer is memorable. That's all. Good day..
Tarjas voice and Juukas double pedal slamming the shit out of the drums and then Marko calls in. Man this sound was my high-school. 15 years ago lol Love from 🇨🇦
I agree. To be honest I like Floor's tone and sometimes I dislike Tarja's, but I feel Tarja understands better the songs and is capable of givin them the feeling and magic needed to match the composition. Floor as much as a great singer she is I feel focuses more on technique and not breaking rather than feeling the song and communicating the feelings as they're supposed to. I think she focuses too much on technique rather than using it as the tool it is...
Tajra is just unique, talented and the most important she look like she is coming from some tairry tale. She has charisma , and i dont think some other can replace her.....Nightiwsh loose Tajra and with her loose identity. Nothing less, nothing more
Amazing Tarja went into metal and gothic music with a beautiful voice like her’s. She’s an inspiration really beautiful woman as well very talented band❤….love the music and great gothic style clothing…she’s an amazing opera singer great vocals..keep up the great music 🎵 you rock..🎵🎵🤘👍love this girl..

Literalmente! A musa do Tuomas, quando eles demitiram ela, ele teve que matar o alter ego dele nas músicas e mudar o foco das letras. Esse foi o impacto gigante da Tarja no Nightwish.
Tarja is the reason why we started to listen to Nightwish , a stack from a small place in Finland Kitee , this was magic , no more, like many other things that happened back in those times. Cherish all the good things that we have experienced as "teenagers" back than, I can only say thank you old crew of Nightwish , you have influenced us with some great sounds.
2005 was end of an era for Nightwish, but it was also the beginning of the end for the Golden Age of Finnish metal music. Looking back at those times almost 20 years later feels almost unreal. Nightwish, Children of Bodom, Sentenced, Amorphis, Moonsorrow, Finntroll, Swallow the Sun, Ensiferum, Kalmah, Turisas, Insomnium, and the list just goes on and on, all of those bands were more or less at the top of their game around 2005, and the amount of solid "second tier" bands behind them was staggering. Some of them have of course kept making great songs and albums, but 2005 was the absolute zenith and heyday of Finnish metal greatness. This concert can well be seen as the culmination of the rise of Finnish metal, and maybe the last gig of Sentenced three weeks earlier can be seen as the symbolic first step down from the heights. After 2005 things started withering down, first slowly but ever more steadily, until we come to this day. Some of the greats are still around, new bands still pop up, but you can't but admit that both the quality and the quantity are but a shadow of the former glory. I happened to meet a foreign dude a few years back who had traveled to Finland thinking that we are still the metal wonderland we were 20 years ago, but in reality it's much like walking across ancient ruins when you expected to find a vibrant city full of life for a metal tourist these days. He was absolutely baffled because there were no metal bars anywhere and gigs were few and far between. At least 10 years late, brother...
Highest tones in this song are beyond Floor's vocal range of comfortable singing. That is why, although Floor put up an amazing effort I prefer Tarja's versions, and this one is my favorite due to the amazing duet with Marco at the end.
Could well be. They’re not doing any Tours for next album. Think at most there may be one last 30th Anniversary album, possibly with Tarja or a 30th Anniversary concert possibly with Tarja and others, then Curtains Close for good.
Flor is good, but her voice can not be compared to Tarjas. Floor sings a little of old Nightwish song, because of her voice. Even Tuomas said that songs are prepared for Floors voice. Floor never be Tarja.
