My mind is blown. Amazing. Would have never thought to draw my headstock shape from the center like you did and then fillet it. Wow. That's going to save me SO much time. Thank you again for another amazing video.

Thanks for posting this! You have saved all luthiers wanting to CNC a ton of time. I will have to set the playback to 0.25X and digest what you are doing in 15 second increments.

The creation of the neck in detail and lower pace can also be seen in my other videos. This video is only about the headstock. I hope you are still able to follow it though 😀

Wow you make that so much easier. Much more as I would have expected Fusion to work. I wonder if Fusion is working better now than it used to as I'm sure it didnt work that well for me in the past lol. Thanks for the video

This channel is amazing. Have you ever done a scarf joint on the CNC?
@Audiohotshot
@Audiohotshot 4 года назад
I have not yet(?) done a scarf joint. But I imagine it’s not really hard to make on a CNC. Totally depends on the drawing though. Just like a neck through body design, which I still have on my ‘bucket’-list :-) Btw I assume you mean a scarf joint for the headstock, right? Right out of the top of my head, just spilt the “neck”-body right at the neck/headstock connection, on the bottomside of the angled headstock.

3:40 Note, in order to select the correct point at the tip of the volute, I needed to go to Solid -> Construct -> Point along path. Then select the volute edge, and drag the point until it snaps to the center. There might be a better way of doing this, I'm new to Fusion.
@Audiohotshot
@Audiohotshot 4 года назад
You COULD be very specific and try to get as close as you can to that specific point, but it really is not important for this particular sketch. I could have started that spline a bit further away and get the same result. I just needed a sketch which I use as a 'razor' to cut away that specific part. Hope this helps.

Great videos! What would be the approach for the truss rod exit in this case that the headstock is a bit higher?
@Audiohotshot
@Audiohotshot 3 года назад
I'd probably still extrude the exit in the same way and make a nice piece of wood following the same profile as the curve of the wood to the headstock.. But that is what I now see in my magical crystal ball :-)

Hello friend, could you make a tutorial of the headstock design from a svg or dxf design that can be adapted to the design of the arm, it is difficult for me to make the design from fusion, there is a way to make the design from an illustrator and adapt it in fusion, you could explain the location well pegs taking into account the guide lines of the strings and the distance from the edge of the nut to the string and I follow you and you are the best explaining

NIce, but I wish you had talked between 1:00 and 2:00 , because the drawing of the precision sketches is the most difficult part. The tricks for centering a line, and making those spines symetrical .... i have no clue.
@Audiohotshot
@Audiohotshot 4 года назад
I always feel I talk too much :-D You could take a look at this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-shxir1Z4Bw8.html (it's divided in chapters, but you'll work it out, it says in the description) The 'tricks' are really easy. As you long as you drag the handles of the splines only in the horizontal direction you should be fine in regards to symmetry. I hope this helps!

Nice, but i can't press pull the sections. I extrude but the section stays the same so it's not correct. What am i missing ?
@Audiohotshot
@Audiohotshot 4 года назад
Ah, you must not extrude but use Q (pull) instead. That's probably it! Best of luck!

Awesome! I followed your complete build with the 10 degree. In the cam process, does the neck require a scarf joint or can it be done on cnc?
@Audiohotshot
@Audiohotshot 4 года назад
That depends on your machine: the 10 degree headstock has a few angles (all sharp angles in regards to your routerbit) which can’t be machined by a 3 axis machine. For example, the holes for the tuners have a diagonal angle which the routerbit, which is straight up, can’t reach. But if you are the lucky owner of a zillion-axis cnc machine this should be doable. With a normal 3 axis machine the angles at the outside of the headstock could perhaps be done in 2 strategies, the angles at the neckposition of the headstock from the topside, the angles at the outer end of the headstock from the bottomside. And skip the tunerholes and do them manually later, (which I personally would never do; there’s a reason I have a CNC, I’m not that good at woodworking... besides sanding though..) So the scarf joint would be the next possible option, I guess. This breaks up the process in two. I would probably slice the headstock/neck connection with a splitbody function and use the bottom of the headstock as a tool. Hope this helps.
@ericweatherman9040
@ericweatherman9040 4 года назад
Audiohotshot very helpful! I only have a 3 axis, so I guess I can go back and remove my construction plain and do more of the fender style you showed
@Audiohotshot
@Audiohotshot 4 года назад
@@ericweatherman9040 I made a drawing today and its totally possible to do on 3 axis machine :-) Just make sure you split the body with the bottom of the angled headstock as tool. Hope this helps

@ericweatherman9040 4 года назад
Audiohotshot not sure I completely understand. Do you do Skype lessons? Looking at could I cam out the headstock or how could I change the headstock angle to more of a fender straight
@Audiohotshot
@Audiohotshot 4 года назад
Sure, I would do Skype, no prob, but if there's enough interest I could organise a youtube Live event for discussing a few other topics as well (like different methods of designing a guitar, building a CNC starting from scratch) :-) But at least you gave me inspiration for the next video to come (maybe this weekend I'll find the time to shoot it, but I'd also like to shoot the machining of it as well then).

Why tf when I try fillet at neck I can't highlight lines?
@Audiohotshot
@Audiohotshot 2 года назад
Have you tried hiding the sketches when selecting the lines of the body? Perhaps fusion tries to select the line on a sketch level? (Maybe it’s a wild guess, sorry if it doesn’t help, but my crystal ball is a little foggy lately 😊)
