3 Ford Dealers Failed to Fix This? P2196, P2198 Intermittent Check Engine Light 2014 Ford Explorer

I just had mine changed out. The service engine light went out on its own immediately after it was changed out. Didn't even have to reset the code afterward. So I hope that was the problem. Thanks for the video.

Very informative thank you. Now if I could just get my 2017 Police Utility 3.7 back on timing again. I changed the water pump and re used the chain that I marked prior to removing I also used the cam locking tool but some how when I fired up the car it ran horrible and I got a flashing check engine light. I’m now back to square one with the second attempt at getting the timing correct.

Sometimes the Dealers just don't want to mess with it. I highly doubt that 3 dealer's could not fix this. Especially considering that service information points you right toward the purge solenoid. To me a title like "3 Ford Dealers Failed to Fix This" is a mouse trap. I guess anything is possible but in this case highly unlikely.

I changed mine thinking that was the problem. It wasn't I changed the one with the solenoid by the fuel tank. That didn't fix it. It Still runs rough and shuts off intermittingly. Especially after getting gas. The other errors say o2 sensors. but, the symptoms point to the EVAP Canister Control valve or the EVAP Canister Solenoid Control valve. I am at a loss of what to do. I guess i will check the the EVAP Canister Control valve again and see it the part was bad. I checked it when I installed it. Who knows. Errors P1450, P2198, P2196. lol

This occurred to my 2013 Lincoln MKX... Replaced the Purge Valve and running smooth at 89K.

My light is blinking and I'm going to go get this part just had a tune up it needed it but light still on hopefully this works 🤞

I have a 2013 Explore with 74k miles. Intermittent problem. Light off for 3 months then on for about 3 months. Doesnt seem to happen when I gas up. Its just random. My mechanic said it gives a bad gas cap code, but there is no gas cap. Thanks for this video.

Got the same codes. I tested the valve. No vacuum. Part makes a ticking noise. Could it be intermittent? What next should i check?

Cool shit I got the same codes on a 2012 Lincoln, MKZ rough, idle and throwing misfire codes so I got the owner picking up a purge valve from the auto parts store

thats odd that the fuel trims didnt show a rich condition with that valve leaking.

I keep getting a lean code p1298 bank 1 sensor 1.....all my fuel trims are almost perfect.....but freeze frame catches the problem at short term fuel trim at 30%.....90% of the time the fuel trims are great.....it's like it's happening intermittently.......!! There's no vacuum leaks, no fuel issues, ...mad sensor is brand new!! A bad purge valve would affect both banks ...correct?

Thanks for good video bro this is helpful but I want to ask I have same code and another code p0420/p0430 I buy the oxygen sensor but didn’t install it I see your video I think no need to install new oxygen sensor just change the vacuum sensor Cuz my car take o lot of fuel maybe it’s running rich The oxygen sensor is very expensive it’s cost 260 $ motorcraft ford

would this cause the same issue on a 2010 ford fusion 3.0? currently running negative in both long and short fuel trims. I haven’t been able to diagnose it

i replaced the valve before seeing this video, i had the same codes. my ford explorer 2015 v6 stalls out and turns off while we are in idle or driving at low mph. after replacing it, the check engine cleared but the next morning it stalled out again.

I've got a question, I own a 2013 Ford explorer I replaced all 6 spark plugs, and the evap purge solenoid and my car still studders. It feels like when it shifts is when it studders, but went to auto zone and they did a code read on it and gave me the list and it said the evap purge solenoid. I'm just wondering what else it could be thanks

What would make my 2016 3.5 idle rough and the rpm fluctuate? ?
