This is the second video of yours that I've watched. I live in China. Finding a teacher here (Henan) that can teach a foreigner (native English speaker) is next to impossible. Something about your teaching style connects with me. Trust me. I've tried dozens. You do an excellent job!
I go to chinese classes but one of my fav ways for characters is that to study radicals, they r super helpful and amazing and a really cool thing that i found is actually a method so hear me out : for example u learned the word 'like' ( i go with English to everyone get what i mean So u will say a sentence with it Example: I like apple Now u put another word instead of apple or (i) and u will say it again ( Now i put books instead of apple) I like books ( Now i change i to u) You like books And that's it u will go like that till the rhythm go into ur mind and then u would talk like a native speaker that actually might not know the grammer but u will definitely know how to talk like a native Chinese person and u will feel wrong when u make a mistake in talking chinese so u will find where u said wrong and all this system will work with ur mind I hope this helps you, good luck
Great tips. I think an even more useful tip than using a notebook is to: use notes on a phone and have a dedicated not to Chinese. This way you bring it around everywhere with you and if it's apple then it syncs with other devices. That's a truly huge productivity life hack for me - not just for chinese. I use my notes to have a note 'Chinese studies' to note which section of flashcards I'm up to in Pleco app to learn vocabulary. E.g. Group 1 - read from charachters; group 2 - recall how to say word from definition; group 3- recall meaning from pinyin. I go through these different phases daily. By the time a group gets to the learning/reading of charachters, they already passed through the former phases (recall meaning; produce from definition) over the last 2 days. I also use the notes to make a mental note of where I'm up to when I'm making a general review sweeping back theough all the groups/folders. E.g. 'Reviewed up to 17'. Otherwise I'd waste time trying to remember, forget or become discouraged by the lack of just knowing what to do immediately.
I’ve spent about 100,000 hours studying English humor and Western culture, and many years studying Chinese culture and jokes. My native language is Chinese. I teach Chinese in funny way and with cute pictures.
Thx for pointers.. I'll subscribe. Your advice is to know yourself and to learn how you learn 1st of all. I think I'll settle for the tv shows.. why? I have a quick ear-brain connection I think. I learned a great deal of Japanese by watching Japanese anime, to were I can watch a whole movie without subtitles and get it lol. I never studied Japanese & as yet can't read or write it but interpret 85-90% of a movie's conversation very well. Took about a year tho of 2-3 episodes a day with subtitles.. etc. It's time I got discipline about Mandrin as well, Korean after... Thank you and Jesus increase + strengthen you ya. Greetings from Uganda.
