It’s always nice to watch a host who is so completely impressed with himself! Just extraordinary self confidence. Why?????? I have NO clue. Eaton boy perhaps?
I'm convinced that engineers are the most skilled people on earth. You can learn how to drive any car, anywhere, anytime but working on one in the best of the best work shops is still difficult as hell
Fully enjoyed the B747-400 overhaul. I flew them for 5 years for an Asian airline. The most satisfying of the Boeings types which I flew. On an autolanding the spoilers (speedbrake panels) and wheelbrakes will operate automatically when set otherwise perfect video. Couldn't bear to watch the final scrapping.
Worked next to 747 wing production all string tied by hand, met the manager there was nice to take me on tour of aircraft. Installing cargo door at the time.
2:55:37 nice 3D animation. One can clearly see the double shaft melting away as they are part of the combustion chamber. Must be an internal audit video from Boeing.
I remember a flight with a BA 747 to Manila. Feels like a century ago, as smoking was still allowed. As, apparently, there were not to much passengers in Business class, the flight crew gave me two seats. One in the smoking section On the lower deck, and one in the non/smoking section on the upper deck. One little problem though. I was in Manila, my luggage in London. And the luggage came in on the flight that I was to take to return. But BA gave me 100 USD in cash to buy what I needed, so, no problem. Overall, it was a very nice experience.
I was on what they told us was the first 747 flight to have paying passengers, from LA to DC, I think it was, in 1967, again, if memory serves. They asked us for our reactions after we landed and I suggested that it might be nice if they could attach the luggage bins to the ceiling so they didn't flap in the breeze quite so much.
2:13:45 - looks like they tok inspiration from ailerons, flaps and slats on a plane and connected gyroscopes to its autopilot. I wonder if there is a similar to an IRS Alignment as part of startup
that's a lot of seat moving. those two guys are moving 3-row seating , row after row after row. Back-breaking work. I hope they get good retirement benefits and that the airline hasn't reduced their pensions and that their pensions were fully guaranteed and that they had a good 401K program and great benefits for medical, and a great bonus program and good increases every year. But it's the pension that I'm worried about most for them. I wish them a very lucrative retirement and the ability to travel the world without having to spend more than on a bag of chips. I heard the airlines have travel packages and even expenses paid. GO TO WORK FOR THE AIRLINES PEOPLE, DO IT NOW. some don't even do a BG check.
For someone who does not fly the commercials are in exactly the wrong places in the video, breaking up the the video right when they are about to execute their moves.
Let me flip that question around. "Only British Airways follow international aircraft maintenance standards, the others make shit up as they please" - what do you think is true?
They did this for cameras. This is "positive" or affirmative documentary. How it should be done. Marketing, PR. No critical thinking, no unwanted questions.
Fantastic! What's stopping you? No shame in starting late, and even the people walking, are still lapping everyone on the bench. Mathematics favours neither sex nor age, and the same goes for physics. The world is your oyster, Ms. Dunn. You only get one life, so live life to the fullest! ;D
@InservioLetum my son must have written this! He's 8 years old, never told me this ambition before either! Definitely something to be encouraged ❤ thank you for the advice, the world absolutely is his oyster and it makes me smile to know this is the content he's watching when he's not being watched ❤
There you go . Boeing preferring to finance advertising videos ,rather than invest the money into maintenance and they rather cut corners to make a lot of money
I fixed planes for the USAF 1979 to 1984. Iwanted to stay longer but my medical career interfered. C141 cargo craft were our priority. I loved it. I agree we need more female mechanics. They are discouraged. Now should be better. I hope they come.
I flew on a British Airways business class in 2019 and it was the worst airline I have ever flown in business class. I was on an Airbus 380. The planes World Club seats which are still in the 380 planes alternate between forward and backwards facing, and every pair of seats features a divider that can be lowered to chat with a seatmate or to interact with flight attendants during meal service. This means that occasionally, the person in the aisle seat has food passed over their table, and when the divider is lowered, seatmates are facing each other rather than being side by side. It is an unusual setup and if offers little to no privacy. Remember a customer does pay a premium for those seats. My window seat was very uncomfortable and the food was just awful. Service was not good either. I was never greeted when I boarded the plane. Just looking at the seats being taken off the place. It proves there is little comfort to BA seats due to how light they were. The fabrics were all worn down. So far the best business class I have flown was American Airlines 777 planes. Very comfortable, private and the food was amazing. I was surprised how good their business class was. British Airways needs to hire new interior designers along with new chefs that design their meal service.
You are comparing modern BA to the old BA. Like all the legacy carriers, since 9/11, GFC and Covid, these companies now have an intimate understanding about how poorly they can treat customers and still have them return with open wallets. They have restructured themselves and now only exist for shareholder value (and the closely linked corporate bonuses) with customer experience not even in the top 5 priorities. We are in a different era, and the old way of doing things is gone forever…of that I am certain.
I HAVE TO REMIND YOU THE 747 IS NOT LARGEST PASSENDER PLANE, IS THE AIRBUS 380 IS LARGE HAS A LARGER PASSENGER SEATING CAPACITY, ON TWO DECKS, WHICH THE 747 HAS ONLY GOT A THIRD OF THE TOP DECK FOR CABIN ACCOMADTION, WHERE AS A 380 IS FULLY PASSENGERED, ON BOTH DECKS, 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
My last flight on a 717 was with Delta Airlines in first class. These birds would be missed when they're gone from passenger service because they signal the end of an era.
America subcontractors in Central America performing maintenance... I'm learning about airlines, stuff you ought to know before you fly around 😮 seriously. NC is a right to work for less state, in retribution for labor successful bargain 😢
wow rachy pooh never in a million yrs id ever guess u were into blowing shit up so much like a pyro maniac u are, that was quite the show u put on yesterday, i cany thank u enough again, do u have anything u wanna say for yourself? uh yea id like to thank my wonderful husband back home wihout his credit cards we wouldnt of been able to do it, my kids back in cali , all sonnys other wives at home hiding inside the estates and most importantly god aka my husband the ove of my life again. geesh well then u heard it lets give a round of applause for rachy and the outcast everyone.... and the crowd goes wild, oh one last thing its been a long road and a journey weve fought tooth and nail to get to this high point in my life its been a uphill climb but finally by the grace of god ive made it......and what u plan on doing after u retire my love, well u know, im gonna up and head out west, cause i wanna be a cowgirl
I wonder what these oil rig engineers think of the “Just Stop Oil” dick heads who burst onto Centre Court at Wimbledon today flinging jigsaw pieces onto the playing surface to disrupt the tournament.
Distuptive behaviour is the same wherever you go. Granted, it's not fun if you're a fan of watching primates cosplay live-action PONG! on grass, but sometimes the message merits whatever disruption is necessary to wake people up. The environment crisis is one such message. I do have to wonder... why on EARTH puzzle pieces????
Brilliant Documentaries spoiled by having to listen to Ancestry and Eliza Dobson ten bloody times during!!!!!! It is Mental Cruelty oh for a mute on my tablet!!! Google you have a lot to answer and as for Ancestry i cannot for the life understand how you that blanket advertising ONE advert which is total shite promotes your service!
"When engineering becomes massive"... There is no such thing as an engineering that is massive, except in the vocabularies of half schooled halfbakers.
I keep rewatching the bit with Becky Wadsworth. You never see a stewardess that actually looks the part anymore. Now it's all men right off a parade float, and old mothers-in-law. As we say in the Netherlands : het oog wil ook wat. It's not her function to be dreamy, but it does take your mind off the colostomy bag rupture that is airtravel nowadays.
Your word selection is Brilliant to describe the Equal Opportunity and Exclusion/Critical Race Culture agenda. Our current Senate Majority Leader (the one who said, there are 6-Days plus Sunday that we can get You if you don’t follow the Agenda, not literally but his meaning). I flew in the Golden Era of Jet ✈️Travel, 1970 through the early 90’s and witnessed what you stated. I’m in Houston, Texas and recall Braniff Airlines tailor made designer outfits for an all Beautiful Female impeccable manners and positive personality Airline Stewardesses and Extremely Professional Male Stewart’s who stroked nothing but Positive Strength. Also the Hot Pants outfits of Southwest Airlines when they began flying! Ha Ha The, also run, staff with sloppy pants suits and non-sharp dressers began their destruction in the early 80’s. Flying lost its mystic !
@@robertj.davidson362 I am not often surprised by people, but you have done so here, Mr. Davidson. When you cite critical race 'culture', are you referring to critical race theory? I cannot imagine how you'd have ever heard of that, even to the extent that you might be confusing it with something different. Critical race theory is university-level legal theory, and certainly not subject to agenda outside a law professors bookclub. I only know of it because I'm the only member of my family that did not go into law, and subsequently occasionally find myself in discussions on law at the dinner table when I visit my parents. How on _earth_ did you even hear of it? I'm honestly astonished!
@@InservioLetumthe framework of critical race theory is common knowledge to many of those in the western world. Given the ignorance you displayed in your original comment it’s no wonder this fact comes as a surprise to you.
In America they use critical race theory constantly. So much so that you roll your eyes every time it's brought up. It's a shame because things that actually do fall into that category are commonly overlooked because half the time just the concept is ridiculous so hearing it makes you cringe right off the bat.
