This has been very educational, this has been rough ride, after 3 years realizing my son is actually autistic with epilepsy and struggling vs just not caring and being lazy.

Signing an IEP is not consenting. The parent should have a draft several days in advance. You should never end an IEP meeting without a record of attendance, which is what that signature page is. This is not good advice at all. Accommodations and modifications were not explained well and I think y’all should have named all exceptionalities. I will not recommend this video to my parents. I feel like best practices are not explained well. Sorry.

Signing a record of attendance is not the same as signing that you are agreeing to the IEP

@@HopeEducationServices signing the signature page of the IEP is not consenting to it. The parent can sign the signature page and write that they don’t agree to the terms in the IEP but that signature page is not a consent form. Read the explanation to the parent about signing the IEP, just above the signature lines. It is a record of attendance as to who attended the IEP as well as by whom and when input was added but not in attendance.
