For Viscose you say it is used instead of cotton. What would then be a reason tp choose viscose and what would be a reason to choose cotton? Great videos!
Viscose is much smoother and shinier than cotton. It is also called Artificial Silk because of its look and touch. But viscose becomes weak when wet. However, the modern versions of Viscose like Modal or Tencel have overcome this problem. They are strong even when wet. However, viscose remains a semi-synthetic fabric. It is not 100% natural. On the other side, cotton is a natural fiber. It has a unique touch against the skin. You should choose cotton over rayon if you like its touch.
Good information. I'm a common customer. My question is how we can recognize these different types while visiting a general cloth market or shop? Second thing, found some people comfortable with traditional cotton cloth whereas rayon (viscose type) created allergy. Why so? Any solution?
Thanks for the inquiry. Normally rayon is heavier than Modal. GSM of Rayon is around 120 whereas GSM of Modal is around 70. Modal appears more to be like Cotton Cambric in weight. For a common man, it is tough to recognize Tencel. We can recognize Tencel through Hand Touch as we deal with it daily. Secondly, viscose is made by treating cellulose with chemicals.
