You need to use real chocolate chips not flavored ones or it won't set up. Best to use real chocolate chips then after melting add a little peppermint or mint extract. Doesn't take much. I break up peppermint candy or candy canes and sprinkle on top for decoration. I've never tried the peanut butter one but I'm going to. Think after it sets in fridge a bit I'll melt some milk chocolate chips and put over the top of the peanut butter one. Be like peanut butter cup fudge.
Thank you for showing even the chocolate one that didn't work. Lets us know that sometimes things DON'T come out, and it is OK! Too many times we beat ourselves up when we watch a video, and ours doesn't come out like the video makers did! Good to know it actually does happen to others. Anyhow, thanks for the recipes. Will be making some this year for Christmas gifts. Hope you and yours have a beautiful and Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year!
You can roll your soft mint fudge in balls and then roll them in cocoa powder, sprinkles, crushed candy canes before placing them in the cups. Their softness won't be as noticeable. I had the same problem with the mint kind one year. Someone suggested I should add a harder chocolate to the chips. Something like semi-sweet.
Oh gosh! I’ve just been making fudge during the week with some teenagers ready for their Christmas Market (today 10 Dec 2022) in aid of their club funds and the same thing happened to us with the last batch! I couldn’t believe it when, by chance, I found myself watching your video a few minutes ago! We didn’t use flavoured chocolate chips but I didn’t have enough chips so I used some chocolate palets … I wonder if that made the difference? We had lots that we’d made earlier in the day so all was not lost (and we’d made all sorts of other Christmas sweets but the favourite has always been the fudge 😘).
GG you had a good idea about putting the chocolate over to peanut butter I make fudge all the time and never thought of that pretty good thinking I'll have to try that one to make a peanut butter cup😊
I like making my homemade fudge in the microwave oven also it's simple, it's easy, it's not complicated, because you don't have to stand over the stove stirring different ingredients for a long tiring drag out length of time making your wrist get sore so the microwave is much better for me to make my homemade fudge so this month for the holiday season I made vanilla and peanut butter fudge, combined together, and Reese's chocolate fudge, and caramel fudge😩😩😩😩😩
the next time you make the mint fudge try using chocolate almond bark along with the mint chocolate chips and the sweet condensed milk and see if that works for you
Put them on crackers!! My Momma use to make fudge the old way every year when the Wizard of Oz came on and hers wouldn’t get hard every time and the saltines worked great!!!
I usually do as well but I may have ran out at that time. I do not make marshmallow fudge. Every time I have attempted to make marshmallow fudge, it turns into sludge. I never had any luck with it, so I just make the microwave and nobody knows the difference.
I did not follow how much peanuts, chocolate chips and the quantity of the other ingredients. Can you please give the quantity of the ingredients as I would like to make it for Christmas?
The mint chocolate chips are artificial, I do believe. Some time years ago my white mint fudge did that and I infact used that same brand. Idea,... roll that muffed up mint fudge into balls, roll them in crumbled up Oreo cookies. Good video, BTW. 👍
Mint won't set up. Neither will Milk Chocolate Chips set up. You need a harder chocolate chip like the semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips. Try using mint extract in your simi-sweet chips. I love the gingerbread measuring spoons❤😎.
