1. I started cleansing and conditioning weekly. This has encouraged tremendous growth for my hair. 2. I started using Grease to seal in the moisture from my leave-in and boy oh boy, my hair remained moisturised throughout, when I unravelled my hair, it didn't lose definition till I was ready to wash. 3. Hooded dryer has really made a my journey a blessed one. That's all

A mix of aloe Vera, glycerin and a little leave in does the trick for me. I also use a steamer, but I got the clothes steamer I let it stand and just rotate my head around. Works well and cost less than a fraction of a hair steamer.

About 4 years ago, when I had dyed(purple) high porosity hair, I tried the water + glycerine mixture in a very humid environment and it made my hair very frizzy. I've been cutting the damage as it grew and now my hair is medium porosity. It loves 1 part aloe + 2 parts water, sealed with shea butter or castor oil. I have type 4 highly dense hair and thick strands, so heavier products works for it. It stays moisturised for about 2-3 days and I mostly style it in 10 braids or twists until next wash day.

African pride's moisture miracle line "Shea butter & flaxseed oil moisturize & define curling cream" is an angel sent down from the Heavens. I tend to steer away from Shea butter and coconut oil due to contact dermatitis issues. BUT I was so fed up with my always dry, (what I believe to be) low porosity, fine stranded, high density, super coily hair that I was willing to try just about anything😩🙄. I love the pre-poo from African pride it's super slippery which is amazing for me since fine strands, high density, & super tight coils makes for a detangling nightmare🤦🏽‍♀️. So I decided to try the curling cream since it was in the same "moisture miracle" line as the pre-poo. And the fact that it was only $5 at Walgreens, I felt I could take that risk (I've spent way more on natural hair products and been disappointed so hey! 🤷🏽‍♀️). Long story short, I added this product on dry & clean about day 2 or 3 hair it took some time to fully absorb but bayyybeee when it did, IT DID! It's been about a week and I haven't had to re-moisturize as of yet! Just my testimony 🙌🏽

Aloe Vera is amazing. I use that ooey gooey gel stuff and it is amazing. It moisturizes the hair instantly. I work it into my hair after using the leave in conditioner and twisting cream. Its amazing.

On wash day I use a mixture of garlic and coconut oil on my scalp and then detangle my hair with water and castor oil. I sit under the heat cap for 10 minutes to let it penetrate and then wash my hair. I put a few drops of rosemary oil in the shampoo to wash my hair. Lastly, I use the heat cap to deep condition my hair.

I use a water filter and tend to remoisturise with an Ayurvedic hair spritz and seal with oil. I use the greenhouse method with my prepoo. I have to find my steamer. Used it when I had locs but not since I’ve been loose natural. All really great tips. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

Great tips. I just recently started the "greenhouse" method. Really b/c of putting some kind of something in my hair, it still being damp, me being too lazy to buy a new blow dryer, etc. Didn't want my pillow nasty and wet, so I put in my products, covered with plastic cap and scarf. Super damp in a.m. my hair is super thin, so iy was more than enough moisture!

Hi Curls Vick, if you add a good coating oil before going into the water it helps with the dryness.

I have high porosity Type 4B hair and my hair wouldn’t make it 1 full day moisturized before I started sealing with Blue Magic Grease instead of an oil. I got this tip from a RU-vidr that has the most amazing almost if not tailbone Type 4A/B hair. 😉

I don't use a shower cap when I shower at night. I pile my hair n2 a high loose pony & when I'm done showering I let my hair down so the middle gets some shower water &steam. I seal it all in with a light oil & pineapple my now revived wng with a satin scarf💤💤💤

Great tips Tonya. I prefer water and aloe vera mixture for moisturizing my low porosity hair. What ratio of water to AV would you suggest?
