I've had a number of requests to feature some of Jan's legendary music, and this lesson concludes the recent "Double Dutch" series of episodes I've put together - as the previous Golden Earring Chordplay lesson along with this episode feature legendary musicians from the Netherlands - so let's dive in!
This lesson features a number of interesting ideas pulled from a Focus live performance in 1973. During the concert, Jan is throwing out all sorts of wicked licks and ideas - including fast whole tone phrases, chromatic/symmetrical licks, aggressive sweep picking, and various other early 1970s technical guitar moves and techniques.
The ideas shared here include a unique-sounding jazzy double-stop slip-n-slide phrase, a jazzy melodic motif that features rhythmic variations, an emotive arpeggio-based phrase, a super-funky melodic slip-n-slide lick, and much more!
