3 month Update // Seattle Living 

hono_ hi Burien/SeaTac/Tukwila/ are honestly not the greatest areas but definitely the cheapest and really close to Seattle. Renton and Federal Way are a longer commute but is a nicer city with cheap prices as well.

If you must stay in the city look west, north, and south (not east 🤣) I think west seattle will be my new home I keep finding apartments listed for $500-$700 cheaper a month!!

hono_ hi this is kind of old so idk of you're still looking, but definitely look into towns north of Seattle like Shoreline, Lynwood, Mountlake Terrace, etc. there's a lot of them up there, rent is pretty affordable and it's not super far from the city and it's pretty good area too

Good luck... Seattle's rental price is rising at the fastest % of any major metropolitan area. It'll catch up to many areas of LA before you know it. For what it's worth, my 2 BR just outside of Downtown Seattle is already $2800.

Julian Des Marais priced are cheaper at the moment from LA but it's raising so fast most 1 bedrooms or studios will be $1700-$2200 (I live in a very central neighborhood though) I've living in LA and seattle (I'm born here) and I say make the move BUT don't do it for the rental price because I can see that continuing to rise as people continue to move her. I think seattle is amazing city so beautiful and inspiring, and it's big city while not having that vibe haha the outdoor beauty here should be reason enough haha

That's a lie. I used to live in LA ( moved last year). Its 800-950 ( Bachelor Studio), 950 - 1300 ( 300-500 sq ft. Studio with kitchen), 1300-1400 for a small 1 bedroom), Once you pay above 1400 you can get a decently sized 1 bedroom. 1600 is a nice one bedroom. Prices do go up the closer you get to the beach however. Check craigslist man.

No way you're paying 1700 for a 1 bedroom in Koreatown, Westwood, or any area around east hollywood. Maybe in West hollywood near the beach it would be that expensive. I was seeing listings out there 1300-1400 for a 1 bedroom. Heck you can get studios still for 900-1300.

Oh man... how wrong you are... its debatedly more expensive here now. Hindsight... 20/20

I say you risk it because when you get out here you find a way to make it work. Like I didn't have a ton of money saved up, we both didn't have jobs but the thing is you almost go into survival mode and make it happen. :) best of luck girl!

Risk it always risk it. Make these types of moves while you're young. I moved to Manhattan straight out of college with no money begin walking dogs for money and 3 months later I was on the Ops team for a multi million dollar start up. After 2 years in NYC I moved to LA liked it there but didn't love it. Then I moved to Seattle. Unbelievable city. Is the job market as booming as a NYC,LA,or SF no but the city is expanding at a wild pace. The market is less saturated but the jobs are still there (remember I literally picked up dog poop for money for months before landing a career changing job). Don't be discouraged by it. I was living in the Wedgwood neighborhood in Seattle. $745 a month in a brand new micro studio. The major issue you may face with an apartment is proof of income and getting approved. Airbnb or Craigslist may be a good option for short term housing until you land that full time job and start collecting those paychecks. Ive since moved back to Manhattan but Seattle has a special place in my heart and could def see myself back there in a few years. "Go out on a limb, that is where the fruit is"

Page Hallock born and raised in Seattle and if you know how to hustle you can find a job or jobs (I work 3 in order to live the in the city) you can made it here, minimum wage in the city Is $13 now working its way to $15 within the year, so you may not have your dream job right away but trust me you'll get there. Also I recommend moving here in spring or summer, mainly to adjust to the weather and because we have a lot of colleges in the cities and tons of students who leave the state and I found it easier to house (or apartment) hunt just before summer

try appleone and aerotek. they do the job hunt for you. use offer up to buy or sell items.

Anything a little outside of the city, tukwila, renton, try craigslist (but obviously be careful),airbnb !!! Most places you need proof of income so keep that in mind!

The seattle freeze is not so much of a employment issue as it is a friend issue...if that makes sense! I don't see if affecting the work place! :)

Seattle in my opinion might not be the first place I'd chose if I had sever depression but with that being said, if you get seasonal depression I don't think it's the worst place to be. I mean yes it rains but there have been a lot of sunny days this winter as well. Everyone is a little seasonally depressed I feel like she winter comes along but there are sunny days here and that makes it nice cause then you'll wanna be outside.

Dream World the people are so nice. Is the Seattle freeze real, it is In the winter cause people don't wanna leave their homes, but once warmer weather comes along it stops. Lol if you make and effort other people will make an effort :)
