In a nut shell, the type of lower surgery I am having (there are many types) involves using a skin graft from the arm from which the create two flaps of skin. Each is rolled into a tube, so its a tube within a tube, the inside one being for urethral (wee pipe) hook up later on. I have a silicone implant put into the labia to make the testicle, the other testicle is made at the final stage as it serves as a pump for the erection device. This is the basic penis and the first stage. At stage two the wee pipe is hooked up and the head of the penis is crafted with another small graft of skin to have a glans (helmet) hysterectomy and vaginectomy are also done at this stage. The final stage is to fit the erection device. The erection device is made of tubes, inserted into the penis connected to a reservoir of saline fluid in the abdomen. When the testicle pump is used, the implants fill with fluid to give an erection. This is a very basic explanation and different people have different things done depending on their choices. +Adian Williams I am not going to lie, I think people need honest info to make good decisions, this op is hard work and painful. However, its such a short space of time in which you are uncomfortable and the reward is a bulge that gives you joy for the rest of your life! I had the same fears and guys all said the same thing, that the pain os worth it for what they now have. A friend likened it to having a baby, how labour is painful but once you see that beautiful baby the pain melts away and is replaced by joy. That is exactly my experience of this op so far.

bless you. it's more of an act of need than an act of bravery. going through life in a body that runs contrary to my gender was far more painful than having scars. my scars to me are just beautiful as they represent the fact that I am now fully me and at home in my body

Lower surgery is now very successful and results in an authentic and sensate penis. yes exactly as Tybrina said. sexuality and gender are two completely different concepts. I didn't change my gender to be with a man, I changed my gender because my I am a man. I was assigned female at birth but I knew this wasn't the truth of who I was and eventually I realised I was transgender and began medical transition to realign my body with my male gender. in terms of my sexuality, I have had relationships with both men and women but felt more attracted to women and when living as female I identified as a lesbian and was in a lesbian relationship, which of course when I came out as trans beame defined as straight relationship. my partner has now begun his own transition and so we are now labeled as gay men, however neither of us feel that label fits adequately . my partner chooses to not label his sexuality at all and I, if pushed to describe myself, say that I am hetroflexible . as you can see, sexuality and gender are not black and white concepts! I hope that's helped!

I've also been told that lower surgery isn't as safe to perform as top surgery, that's why I don't know whether or not I'd want to risk lower surgery.

There is no pressure to have every surgery, each trans person has different needs, so if someone just wants top surgery thats ok. There is no evidence of testosterone causing cancer, and yes of course there are risks with trans surgery in the same way as there is with other surgery as its a big operation but if yur dysphoria and need for top surgery/penis is huge then these risks become worth it

thanks my friend! the cage is made using an old fish tank for the bottom and the top of a hamster cage . you just have to shop around for cages that fit. you can buy them like this but they are not cheap and a lot of them use plastic for the bottom which just gets scratched up

I LOVE gerbils, my husband wasn't sure when i first got them, however sadly we've had them for 3 years now and we know we don't have much longer with this pair, we each named one, and my hubby named his "Brisbee" if you get the reference, and I named mine Briar, because she looks like woodgrain as she's a chocolate agouti. I also have two dogs, both female, both gerbils are female, my mom lives with us as she needs constant care, so the poor guy apart from a few of his friends its a house full of women. lol To be fair neither of us is trans, however we both have friends who are, two FTM and one MTF, and my first husband did swell before he passed, so i just like watching your vids to help me see what their going through bed i can. plus your interesting :P Thanks for the vids :)

I had severe issues of depression and axiety and resorting to hurting myself as a very poor way of coping, which I now no longer do. And yes, the larger arm scar is from having radial forearm phalloplasty, they use a skin graft from the arm to make the penis

Radial forarm phallo gives the best results aesthetically and sensation wise which is why I chose it over thigh or abdominal phallo. I already had scars on my arm so was not overly concerned about another one and decided it was worth it for the result. Hope that helps!

I feel for your friend, its so hard when complications happen, I have heard of other people who have had this issue with healing and i hope it heals soon for him. Re the flashes, that could be due to hormones, is the doctor aware they are not on hormones?

FinnTheInfinncible yes the doctor took him off his hormones to do the surgery. He is afraid to go back on them until everything heals up, and he gets the tubes out, but he was cleared to start taking them again.

I never understand the logic of taking people off hormones, it just messes with people emotionally and physically. I would think that once on his hormones again he will feel much better and the hot/cold flashes will stop.

FinnTheInfinncible you are right! He went to the doctor who prescribed the hormones and was told they actually help him heal! He just took his first dose since September this afternoon. Here's hoping it helps :)

Skin from underneath the buttocks is then taken to replace the skin on the arm. The reason that they cant use the buttock skin for the penis is because there is too much fat and not the optimum type/amount of nerves

I am sorry if this is too personal. I know for the MTF surgeries some are over time able to atchieve a real physical orgasm. I have a friend who has barely been out of surgery a couple of months and has already had their first one. Not common true. But most of the info I am finding on below surgery for FTM is older and is saying it is not possible. I was unsure if this was just because it is older information. Hoping that that is the case.

+ComeDownRedMolly It is indeed possible to orgasm. The goal eventually is to have an orgasm using the new penis, however it takes time for sensation to arrive in the new penis so until them you orgasm with your old equipment.

Self harm scars are scars from cutting yourself (which you do if you are depressed usually. He has skin missing from his arm because they surgically removed it to form part of his penis. (He is a transgender man)

Self harm is self injury. Where a person harms themselves to try to cope with the emotional pain they feel. I have surgery on my arm as I have had lower surgery. They use a graft from your arm to create the penis

Ah ok. Here in the UK lower surgery is paid for by our national health service, so I am unable to advise you about cost. There are also lots of different types of lower surgery. The type I had uses a graft from the arm to create the penis, a later stage hooks up the uretha so I can stand to pee and final stage is an erection implant. It is a long process and different surgeons will do the stages in different ways
