I'm going to show you three plays that be cover 4 and change the way you think about the coverage. So you can attack those teams that like to sit in that cover 4 defense.
Today we're talking about beating cover four, we've had a bunch of questions come in about how do you beat cover 4. All those high school teams out there that just want to sit in that look. And it's hard to throw four verticals into cover four? And if they can stop the run up front, you have to have an answer. Well, there's some plays that are natural cover for beaters, and we're going to talk about that here today. But I'm also gonna give you some options to change things up, get a different look and maybe put some shot plays into your repertoire. Remember, a huge piece of beating cover 4 is understanding what looks you're going to get in that coverage for defense from the team that you're playing. So film study is essential. We're going to take a look at Cal versus TCU, Gary Patterson, one of those guys, who was if not the inventor, a big practitioner of cover 4, and added a lot to the coverage. And so we're gonna see how Bill Musgrave the offensive coordinator at Cal decided to attack TCU in their variation of cover 4. Remember, understanding what teams are trying to do with it versus you is the biggest key to being able to beat Cover 4.
