Thank you so much for reacting to my battle!! I absolutely love your energy and I'm so so glad you enjoyed it! Mario vs Link has been a passion project 2 and a half years in the making, so seeing people appreciating it really makes my day 😄 Love your content man, keep up the great work!
17:47 I'm pretty sure the reference here is the fact is that the games are called "The Legend of Zelda" and that it has no "link" in it, The title of the legend is missing "Link"
27:10 nice reference to how Zelda was going to have an animated movie but it was canceled. Great reaction as always dude you never fail to make me smile with your levels of hype!
14:19 Yep, in the first Super Mario Bros game, the story is that Bowser captured Peach and turned the Toads of the Mushroom Kingdom into bricks.. *And what Mario does with the bricks on the levels? Yep.*
This is actually a common misconception. Yes, the manual states that the Toads were turned into bricks, but it also states later on that the bricks that were previously mushrooms can power up Mario, implying that the Toads are the ?-Blocks that can’t be destroyed in the original game Wow 8 months late
MC Number 17 is a reference to Gaster's Entry Number 17, a secret entry in the files of Undertale written by Gaster in the Wing Dings font that talks about his experiments with "DARKNESS GROWING" "PHOTONS READING NEGATIVE" and "SHADOWS CUTTING DEEPER. Also for more context on Gaster, when he fell into his creation he was quite literally erased from all of existence, only being talked about by his Followers during rare events and in the game's code. His line about Dreams skin being "LIGHT, LIGHTER, YET LIGHTER" is also a reference to Entry 17, where he says his experiment is becoming "DARK, DARKER, YET DARKER" Both the ASL line and the Man who catches hands are references to Gaster being referred to as "the man who speaks in hands," a title he earned because of his dialogue font, Wing Dings, using hands as a part of the typeface. "Resetting the timeline... on Twitter" is a very nuanced reference. In Undertale, the player, a human, has the ability to SAVE, LOAD, and RESET the game at will, an ability that is canon to Undertale and not just a gameplay mechanic. So Gaster is making a reference to humans being able to RESET the timeline, but says that Dream can only make people refresh their Twitter timelines to see his newest controversies.
Aw man I missed the stream. Hoping we got another Rap Battle Day reaction vid so you can see more bangers. Oh, and to explain some bars from Dream vs Gaster: - Gaster is a secret character in Undetale and it's followup Deltarune. All we know about him is that he created a powersource in Undertale called The Core and he accidently fell into it spreading him across time and space. - "MC Number 17" is referencing Entry Number 17 from Undertale, a log written by Gaster that's hidden in the game's files. - Gaster isn't deaf (although that would be a cool twist), whenever he speaks in game (including Entry 17) it's in the font Wingdings, a lot which is pictures of hands. Another character says the ominous line "Beware the man who speaks in hands", which is believed to be Gaster due to the hand connection. - "Fun Values" are randomly assigned numbers in Undertale that decide which random events are triggered in game, several of which are connected to Gaster.
I like when you repeat bars. I tend to listen to you while driving and sometimes it’s hard to heard the words through the impression so having you repeat the bar before talking about it helps me keep up
Explanation for the 2 lines that you didn't understand in the first battle: "MC number 17" refers to a secret text in Undertale that is very difficult to find called "entry number 17" (in the game, you come across multiple entries of text in the true lab, with number 17 being the only one missing). "The man who catches hands" is a reference to the river person in Undertale, who brings you to multiple locations in the game quickly. During the boat rides, he sings multiple lines, including the line "beware the man who speaks in hands". He's most likely talking about Gaster here, because he always talks in wingdings, a font that uses hands and other objects instead of letters. Hope this clears things up. Happy you're back man! Can't wait for more top-tier reactions!
I thought that that was referencing Dream throwing hands and Gaster being forced to "catch" them instead of speak in hands. I'd say if there was a River Person reference, it'd be "Lighter Yet Lighter". I think that's the River Person swapping with Gaster in Underswap or something- Funny how this could still be a complete coincidence and whoever wrote that bar didn't know about Underswap-
I know I'm crazy late but at 8:30, there are several references: Gaster is known as "the man who speaks in hands", and Dream is referencing that through his lines. Basically what's he's saying is that, if Gaster keeps talking, Dream is going to through hands and Gaster will catch them instead of speak in hands. Hope this helps, although you probably won't see it- ^^
Yea, so w.d. gaster is an undertale and deltarune character... kinda. Well all we know about him is that he was the royal scientist who created the core and one day he fell into his own creation (wich most people assume was the core but maybe it wasn't.)and then he was torn into pieces across time and space wich means hes everywhere yet nowhere at the same time. I'm preety sure that 'cus of that he was earased from everyones meamories. Now, about the refrences in the rap battle (or at least the ones i noticed about w.d. gaster). You allready know the dream ones so im only gonna say the gaster ones. Number 17 is a refrence to entery #17 that gaster made about his experement. Underground is cus, well, undertale. And undertale happens in the underground. Lastly, the man who catches hands is cus hes known by a charcter whos called tge river person as "the one who speaks in hands". We assume its cus in undertale, the font called wing dings is also a languege and the only language gaster speaks in (*ahem* w.d. as in wing dings *ahem*), so he needs to speak sign language for people to undersatnd him. We dont acctualy know how he looks like but thankes to some secrets in undertale, we suspect he looks like that.
I just found this channel randomly from the spongebob vs captin underpants video and i love this channel. I never really smile at videos literally like ever but you like genuinely make me do smile like i’m being serious 💜
17:44 "I got that wordplay" * proceeds to not get the wordplay * (The wordplay of "faded in legend/ title's missing 'Link' is that the games' titles are the *Legend* of Zelda, and Link's name is not in that)
I think link's line about karting is meant to reference how link is usually considered one of the better characters in the mario kart game that he's in
No Josiah, Mario 100% carries. Call me biased all you want, but it doesn't change the proven fact that his franchise changed the industry from being another thing left in the dust. And Link's new games, who cares?
"turning toads to bricks what" Ooohhh yeah I heard something a very long time ago but forgot about it I dont think it's true dosent make sense to me..... But then when did real life or mario make sense
