I own an Exter AMT top variant and bought it for my wife as her first car. It is confidence inspiring for a first time car owner. I just love the suspension. I mostly drive it with two or three people max, that maybe the reason cause the roads here are quite bad but if it’s bad I do prefer the exter over other cars in my garage. Great city commuter with the easy steering and compactness to park. Practical Mileage for me at best is 16.5, floor it and that goes out the window. Inner cabin quietness is something I haven’t seen mentioned a lot, it’s very impressive indeed at this price point. Bells and whistles is an added advantage since it’s a Hyundai. Service for me was pretty decent and economical. Have taken a package for the peace of mind feeling. (Boot space seemed decent for me) Negatives : 1) If you’re in a rush or a fast driver enthusiast I won’t prefer this. 2) Seats in the long run (3hr+) start to become uncomfortable. 3) Gear switching from 1 to 2 seems lethargic at times esp if your climbing hills but the rest seems smooth. Disagree with all 3 points. 1) Suspensions are fine. Drove 1400+ km with 5 people and luggage filled to max. If you usually drive on okay roads, this car's suspension will never be a problem. 2) The space inside is best in class. Much better than even bigger cars like the Fronx which arguably is a higher segment car. The driver's seat is height adjustable so even shorter people will be able to see over the bonnet. 3) The Exter has a refined 4-cylinder engine. If you ask it for power, it will give it to you. The car is light and it has a big engine (relatively speaking). You do the math. I was forced to drive it through a water logged street full of trash and debris for over 200m while trying to escape the Chennai floods in Dec 23. The water was coming over the bonnet and going over the roof. It was that deep. You had to hear the roar of the engine as my little car punched through the weight of the water in front of it. A lot of cars died in that flood. My Exter didn't.

Bought exter SX manual in July 2023, driven 6300km, mostly in highway and in Himalayas as well, with full luggage and family of 4. Never expected such performance in hilly terrain, totally impressed with the ground clearance, as it handled the bad road conditions really well, took all the hills in 1st and 2nd gear like any other car.(went to sittong). It’s really a allrounder in every aspect. Go for it guys as it’s a value proposition.

Disagree with all 3 points, exter is better than nios and i20. I don't know why people are simply saying rubbish about exter, it's worth the money. If you people wanna feel much better than exter go for higher budget cars.

I own Mahindra and a manual SX. Recently I have already taken my Exter to Nainital, Chakrata, Manali with 4 people and some luggage. Rather it's easy to drive this car on the narrow, bad roads especially in high hilly villages, sharp U turns. Suspension is decent too. I did feel a lag of power on steep hills, so I had to put it in the second gear and it could pull fine. I am not sure how people are providing their opinion about this car without even driving one for substantial time. This car rides extremely well, it is silent and stable. Of course it is not meant to go beyond 120 (btw you will get a challan if you do so). Overall this is a small car that runs well in the city and also on highways and better than many 3 cylinder cars or even tubro engines when it comes to going for a hill drive in places like Himachal and uttrakhand. Running average: 18 to 20 km/l on highways and 6-9 on hills, city 13-15 kmpl Follow-up: Recently, three friends of mine, each over 6'2", and myself, at 5'11", got into my Exter SX. They were utterly astonished and cried out, 'How did we all fit in so easily, with leg room left over?' so guys, please go and visit the showroom. Everybody has a different requirement. Choose a reliable brand and experience the car/suv yourself. This much time and efforts you must invest when you are spending 10 lakhs, 20 lakhs or more, or whatever amount. Afterall, its your hard earned money and you dont want random breakdowns or frequent visits to service centres. For sheer peace of mind, you can't beat owning a Toyota, Suzuki, Hyundai, or Honda. Guys! Opinions matter, but they’re always coloured by the perspective of the person giving them, so experience it yourself first.

Bought one, SX AMT. Just go for it. These three drawback does not matter for someone who has just one car. It goes great on highway and city alike. Has space for 2 large suitcase and some lose luggage. Suspension are just personal preference. And you are not overtaking someone at 100+ speed when you have family with you. For overtaking at 80 kmph, downshift via paddle shift works great.

I completely agree with your opinion! The suspension is a big question before buying this car. Many Exter owners are offended which is obvious....however the car's suspension is quite bad if you're traveling with 5 people (not considering the luggage even). During full load the car's wheels touches the body cladding! After driving Exter I felt i10's suspension is better although both are on same platform. The engine is Ok...not great. Overall space and comfort are also OK. But the biggest issue is again suspension!

Punch can be a better choice?

Its comes around 6-11 lacs segment. And for this price its the best thing you can get. Smart people dont see it as SUV. They just buy this car as a little bit upgraded version of grandi10. So no point judging exter as a SUV

guys if you are comparing exter and punch you will definitely regret after buying punch because of discomfort and service issues.go with Hyundai and take peace of mind...

It's a sensible hatch with height, it solves all the problems of middle class man, the points you mentioned here was never a concern of a common middle class Indian. Except Tata and German ordinary cars all others have these issues.. but doesn't seem to care , they are happy with this, if you do have alternative please say it....

I have the top model manual hyundai exter, and I also agree with your main point! For those wondering about the mileage, let me tell you it’s good. In the city, I have experienced 9 to 12 km, sometimes even 14 to 16km. It depends on the traffic and how you drive. I recently went to jaipur; I live in delhi and had three friends with me, along with travel bags. The ac was always on, and the exter was giving a mileage of 18.2 km. In traffic, the mileage isn’t great, but if we talk about build quality, features, and overall performance, it’s really good. Believe me, this car gives you the feeling that you are driving a really nice vehicle. Some of my favorite features include wireless charging, cruise control, support for both android auto and apple carplay, a voice assistant that can understand both english and hinglish, auto-fold mirrors, and a camera that records the inside and front of the car the moment you start it. The camera quality and audio are really good, and even the parking camera quality is good. The exter sits between good safety and a good amount of features. It’s perfectly balanced for its price.

Exter AMT SX O is the best, suspension is really good, it's a softer suspension made for comfort, i have been using it for the past 5 months covering around 6000 KM, drove in all areas hills, off-road, highway, city, mmm seriously it's good in all terrain, for a car this price it's value the money. It's not a performance based car, it suits for chill drive not rash. A few points I don't like is the seat is hard, the avg mileage in the city is around 12-14. That's all apart from this all are good to me. And regarding hill drive, uphill with auto is good and downhill manual + - should be used.

yeah so the thing is my grand uncle bought the Hyundai Exter Amt. When we first time sat in the car there were 4 people me my grand aunt my grandmother and my grand uncle who was driving and yes the ride was quite bumpy first of all i thought it was my grand uncles first time driving an automatic but then after watching your shorts i realised than it has a bas suspension i test drove it again and then understood the truth

I have driven Exter s (o) model from 1 year completed and there is no problem occurs to me as defining here... And yes it's a small segment petrol car so your expectations might have be accordingly in this way.... At first drive i have also doubtful about lagging in pick up problem but actually that was my fault to assume that because my current car was skoda rapid 1.6 turbo engine....in my way Exter is tough family car that you can drive on indian roads smoothly

i agree with the first reason, yesterday only I took a test drive from a dealer and i feel the rear suspension like piling.. I was almost final to buy this machine but I drop after the test drive. That vehicle was only covered 14000 km.. I asked to the executive who brought this from the dealer, he replied as you will not get when it buy anew car.. I didn’t understood the logic behind that

Your saying this but this car is getting very comfortable ride I know that the car interior same as aura or nios but there is more features in Hyundai Exeter like sunroof cruse control dash came etc ... And talking about suspension is also good comper to aura or nios and boot space is also too good

Would you recommend this or fronx for 2000 kms drive monthly (20% city 80% highway) Requirement is Comfort, mileage, stability at 100-110 kmph and ease of maintenance.

If the seats are low how do they end up eating comfort! Isn't this supposed to get more comfortable in long journey as long as there is enough ground clearance. We I experienced a Honda Brio which has quite low seats very very comfortable for 17hrs out on the highway.

Purchased SX AMT o Connect, for a family of three and its hands down the most you can get for your money in this price. Just get me a car, that has more than this car offers, you won't find one. Overall, I agree with the engine lacking a punch but what are people thinking 😂😂 Hyundai has clearly stated that it has the same engine as the i10,i20,venue etc. I don't understand the people who expect the performance of a Scorpio or Fortuner from a 10 lakh car😂 Climbing hills is not difficult at all when you have AMT, and believe me I had a manual grand i10 as well, and the exter is far better when climbing hills.

We bought Exter in 2024, it's a great car for family. But whenever I feel like the car is the best in the segment, this video comes up 😂. I don't agree with the 3 reasons.

For some reason, Exter looks like Walter White's Pontiac Aztec, a car notorious for its bizzare design. Exter exudes that vibes 😂. Big, unforgivable turn off is Hyundai stilting up and packaging the nice little i10 Nios as a SUV.

I have Punch and its feel the same, Other than riding comfort nothing is present in Punch. Lacks in pickup, in just 1.5 years lot of noise coz of poor cheap fit and finish, Lacks in climbing hill need to climp in 1st gear most of the time. Atleast Exter got 4 cylinder to do the job easily
