The reason for dropping the modes at significantly higher range could be voltage or current limitations . The battery at that charge state might not be able to support the power required by motor. Even though it has energy capacity.
@@HarishBabuM Basically what Khshitij is suggesting is 'While TVS's investment in Ultraviolet may be a positive thing like 'association with a stable brand', but it could hinder Ultraviolet's ability to fully develop high-performance sporting motorcycles, as TVS's focus is inherently more commuter-oriented instead of building ultra-cut through precision performance products. This duality may dilute Ultraviolet's brand identity and restrict its design and engineering decisions, preventing them from realizing its potential.
As a previous 2023 F77 Recon owner.. i received the M2 performance (10-level regen and TC) for free.. They also had color panel and tank hatch updates that were paid.
@@motorinc after the Mach2 upgrade.. started out similar to what you said.. Lever6/7.. but as I got more comfortable with the regen.. set to the highest level 9.. now that is my default in the city all the time.. aggressive riding.. barely use brakes On highways I use level 2/3
I have no plans to buy an electric bike any time soon nor am I into sports bikes in general, but listening to Shumi and Karthik talk is so captivating that I'm hooked :D Regarding the conservative limits for the various ride modes, why can't they simply let the user configure it? Maybe set the defaults to 30% and 20%, but let the user go into the settings and change it based on their preference. That would give them an additional data point for how their customers are actually using the bike.
Wait, the safety indicator blinking gimmick is called the ANTI-collision warning system? It warns when collision is not happening? 😂 makes sense in the situation that schumi mentioned
The law of unintended consequences at work here Shumi! It took me a second to realise what you were talking about, but now I can't disassociate "the word" from this bike - especially after the stickering and branding discussions. The branding is more lame Gen Xer who had a tough time with bullies in college/high-school more than anything else though. Really enjoyed it as ever :)
Does choosing the lower variant with 7kW battery pack make the handling and weight distribution better? If I remember right, in the brochure it was mentioned this is 10kg lighter compared to the 10kW variant.
I've been using the Mach 2 Recon for the past 3 months, absolutely no regrets! And yes, the Violette AI does seem gimmicky, hence I did not buy the AI pack.
@@motorinc I love the way it looks, not much maintenance is required, didn't want to burn fuel unnecessarily in the traffic of Pune City. My rides are well within the real world range of the Recon variant. It costed me around 4.5L on road in Pune, whereas, I would have to spend a lot more on fuel and maintenance for an equally priced IC motorcycle.
And with this podcast I am pretty sure that in the near future if I ever decide to buy an electric vehicle then it has to be a scooter or maybe a car, those make much more sense and even in present they are more than practical enough to be a daily driver of our lives
That’s Shumi for you, no nonsense, on your face 😀. Love this section. But just a suggestion, you can tweak an episode or two to make it kind of a podcast format with some automotive enthusiasts or auto industry veterans as your guest. You two would definitely be a wonderful host. Also any updates on Himalayan 650, any news as to when it can debut. Saw some spy pics recently.
Stickers!! Precisely the reason why the Ducatis are beautifully beautiful in a league above the rest owing to their minimal sticker work. I often wonder why designers have to rely overtly on stickers to make a machine look more visually appealing, rather than acknowledging the fact that automotive styling and beauty is/or should be more of an intelligent play between the effects of lights, highlights and shadows (like how a light reflects off the edges and curves of the chassis in contrast with the darker, shadowed areas).
do you guys use a prompter or just prepare with a script? the lighting and color tone of the videos is also excellent and unique for a moto channel. Top notch and setting a standard. Keep improving, my two cents would be focussing in on your face as MKBHD uses most of time when making a pun or a joke, just would add more flavor.
Sporty eBikes are still in their infancy. The current battery technology - weight to power density is still not there yet to provide a decently comparable performance when compared to ICE bikes. The current batteries and motors that are used in UF77M2 essentially compromises the overall design for performance. It’s like putting a HD800cc engine into a sports bike chassis and expecting a Yamaha R1 like performance. In my opinion, advent of solid state batteries will change this dynamics. Using a smaller capacity battery but with fast charging (less than 5 minutes for full charge), use of axial flux electric motors will change the performance of e-bikes and make it competitive with ICE bikes
Since this is an Electric bike and heavy does this have a good hill hold feature and reverse because it will be a pain to get this bike back without including the motor ? Also can this be someone's first bike ?
Shumi, Karthik Just one question, Can this be my first bike for city commute mainly and very occasional weekend rides; the base variant, not the recon one (as it's 10 kgs lighter). Also, I would have loved to see a comparison between the 2 models for instance how does the less weight affects the driving as compared to the recon model? And any other points - you get my point. Please assist.
The range shown on EVs today are nearly accurate makes me think why is the range number on an ICE hugely inaccurate? And its not a particular brand its with all the ICE bikes which shows range. It shows 50/60 on almost empty tank when you know you need immediate refueling. Is it easier to predict range on electric than on ICE?
A hypothetical situation, but would like @shumi to pitch in. If i were to take the F77 recon Mach II to MMRT, what will the laptime be close to? A duke 250? an RTR310? I am sure it is not coming close to the d390, let alone the rc390.
24:08 They can get away with saying that "Figter jets are most unstable aircrafts" 😂 I dont think the motorcycle is built to be unstable, but they have done what the fighter jets are meant to be. Which is unstable at best.
The current battery design is hindering the advancement of the electric vehicle (EV) revolution in the 2-wheeler sector. Without specific battery designs for 2-wheelers, the industry is unable to progress, which is affecting products like the F77 that are constrained by the existing battery pack design.
@@motorinc Yes it is, but they can come out of it if big players like Bajaj, TVS, Hero and other international players create a consortium and tie up with a battery pack manufacturer to develop 2-wheeler-specific battery architecture.
Since its a new brand and trying to breaking into a niche market that to with EV they need to make Sports Bike but if they would have made anything else other than a sports bike as their 1st product it would not generate the hype. Basically they took the Ather way.
Is traction control necessary on a sub 400 cc and likewise electric bikes? I think if traction control is what you want on 40 bhp bikes then it's a tyre or skill issue, cuz i think it takes a poor level of throttle control and clutch control to lose traction on these bikes and a skilled person would really knock the throttle if he really has to lose traction.
Heyy Shumi can u plz recommend a bike around 3 lakhs I'm a college student in mumbai I want a city and touring bike. I own a hunter 350 but my height is 6.1 I want to upgrade to a taller bike.
Maybe they lack courage on trusting and believing their own developed tech in predicting and extracting the exact range with set number of battery left. Yes it may depends on various variable playing there parts right from battery performance in high temp, its discharge rate, its discharge curve under load. But the fact that they call it a sport bike and eliminating the fun out of it just to make sure you don’t run out of juice on a stranded road even after 30% or 20% left is quite more defensive approach. Just go full let buyers have their own fun. And today everyone very well know cons of having an EV and i think buyer are pretty much prepared for it before making that final call.
20:53 🤣 the analogy! But seriously, that answer is just a poor dodge tactic. Can't be bombastic in some claims and then blame the 'customer' for the mistakes/ignorance/laziness
Reviewing a sporty bike on Indian city roads is a nightmare. We need sports bike with adventure bike suspension and tractor like torque for our city roads This bike must be tested on a race track and then used only on proper highway. UF77 m2 is not a good city commute bike.
I laughed a lot watching this review, not cause of the motorcycle review..!! It was funny watching Shumi's narcissistic attitude and desperate crave for attention..!! Random tantrums..thrown at ride mode names, dealership names or charging network....!! it feels like he cant digest the fact...some brand is going non traditional...cz he is so stuck in generic..! i wish he grow up a lil more....hehe..!!
*now you guys have realised the importance of watching motor inc videos before purchasing a bike ..rather than watching a real world test ride review by some paid youtuber...the wealth of information here in these videos have made me mental*
The primary aspect that was missed out by the duo was who exactly is buying this bike. A normal sports bike enthusiast is either going for the r15 or the RC or if they have the money for it the Aprilia. More purist guys are going for the R3. None of these guys would ditch those gems for this electric. Those who are in the market are guys and girls who want a sports looking bike, with great range and novelty for creds. I can safely bet that if 1000 people buy this machine 999 are not even thinking of hanging off the bike while cornering. All they want is a machine that goes fast on straight lines, gives great range and is a niche product which makes them stand out. It’s all that this bike has to do in the real world.
This is yet again a technology demonstration and not a product. Too big too heavy and too expensive. Seeing the great bikes we have this is really only for early adopters because there is no real reason to get this.
to me in someways the ultra-Violette reminds me of the Og Lamborghini Countach it was incredibility flashy and hyper to look at and it was a good bedroom wall poster but as a performance car it was utter shite ......i think in many ways the f77 might be the same all style and very little substance ....it more a bike to showoff and ride around the city doing 30 kmph on the road rather than a rc390 or a r3 Yamaha rival .....just my humble opinion that's it
