I reacted badly (rash, racing heart, anxiousness, jittery, diarrhea, energy levels crashed in mid afternoon) to levothyroxine. I am gluten dairy free and learned that my brand contained dairy even though not listed on ingredient’s packaging. Research revealed Tirosint is gluten dairy free so my physician switched me to Tirosint. I no longer have symptoms caused by med and now I feel normal once again. I am so thankful someone developed a med that doesn’t make me sicker than I started out!!!!

I had a total thyroidectomy 3 weeks ago. The surgeon gave me a script to start on generic Levothyroxin a couple of days after my surgery. About a little over a week later, I broke out with a rash on my right shoulder, and it extended to my right clavicle and neck area. My skin was very flush (red) on my neck (not good being post-op almost 2 weeks). I contact the surgeon office and they told me to take benadryl. I contacted my endocrinologist and questioned her about an allergic reaction and she didn't think that was likely but switched me over to tirosint since it didn't have all the fillers and that is probably what caused the reaction. It is a bit more pricy but I am willing to pay a higher price if it means no more reaction with the fillers. Tirosint does offer a coupon on its website to help with cost.

After recognizing that I had multiple autoimmune issues including IBS-c My Endocrinologist switched me from levothyoxine to tirosint. After time we were able to adjust my T4 from 1:25 down to 112 µg. For approximately 15 years I thought my Hashimoto’s was causing constipation. It turns out it was probably due to lactose in medication and supplements I was taking. I have also switched my supplements to a brand that only includes dry supplement and gelatin gelcaps. No lactose. Gut is much improved as is absorption of all medications.

Interesting! I changed from 75mch levo to 75 mcg tirosint. It wasn't enough and am now on 88. It is helping but am not feeling normal yet after 6 wks. When taking levo I felt great in most ways. Had energy, strength, was happy, but was also jittery and anxious almost all the time so wanted to try something different. Heard about tirosint from a friend and had to ask for it from my endo. It's $50 for 3 month supply but insurance covers some. I pay the 50$. I didn't know I can take with food!! Thanks for these videos dr. It can feel lonely unless you have ppl who understand. 💖😊🙏

Short of finding someone like Dr Childs who does his research past medical school graduation ( yes, being snarky here towards many computer protocol doctors who lack critical thinking skills), look for a functional doctor. I have talked mine into treating my whole body - hashimotos, type 1 diabetes, hormones, etc. We debate, as I will often bring in other view points, like Tirosint ( my next visit debate), thanks to Dr Childs. Because I debate him so often, he asked me to do the Myers-Briggs personality test. Thankfully our personalities are very compatible and neither of us take anything personally anymore. Internists deal with so many different ailments and diseases, I think it is impossible for them to keep up with current studies/papers/trials, on everything- they would have zero free time! It is really nice to have a doctor who really listens to you, regardless if my thoughts and ideas don’t fit the Bradford Hill criteria - yet. …

Unfortunately, Tirosint caused unbelievable knee joint pain to the point where it hurt to walk sometimes. I def could not exercise. I was disappointed because it's top shelf and I heard great things about it. I did not experience any fatigue and I could sleep at night with Tirosint. If you can handle Tirosint, it's great--no usual side effects like fatigue. Once, I switched to another brand, the knee joint pain slowly subsided and completely went away, so I know it was the Tirosint. I just don't understand why. I can't take Levothyroxine either as I am allergic to it. I take Armour and I seem to do well on it. It's funny how different meds work for different people. 🤷 Thank you for all your content. Just recently went from NP Thyroid to Tirosint due to a bad reaction I had with NP thyroid after a dental procedure. I also suffer from gluten intolerance and lactose intolerance. When I started looking into the interaction, I found out there was a recall on the particular lot of medication I was taken. I had been experiencing some serious cervical spine spasms and pinched nerves and they all went away the very day I went on Tirosint. I do get a spacey feeling first thing in the morning after taking it and a bit of discomfort around the Parathyroid glands area, but after a few hours it goes away. The other issue that I was having with NP thyroid was that my T4 count would not come up after increasing the dosage on multiple occasions which was part of the recall.

I had thyroid cancer in 2003. I was on Synthroid (I never did well with the generic versions) from 2003-2017. In 2017, I started having absorption issues with my Synthroid. After numerous medical tests, I was switched to Tirosint. My TSH responded accordingly and I felt better. My insurance company recently denied my Prior Authorization for Tirosint. Although my endocrinologist sent a letter of medical necessity, my insurance company said, " After review, it has been determined that the generic Tirosint that has been approved is a brand new generic form. Therefore, we are requesting that you try the medication for 30 days and if your levels rise or you experience any adverse effects, we will issue an authorization for the brand form of the medication." As long as they can save some money - UGH! I am hoping I will not have the same issues with the Lannett version of Tirosint as I did with the generic versions of Synthoid.

I am well-aware that Google/RU-vid/whatever they call themselves has me shadow-banned because they don't like my religious & political views, & thus are basically discriminating against me for the same, but, & not that the mere fact that they perpetrate such discrimination is not outrageous in & of itself (considering that my views are wholesome & right while their foundational are not, & considering some of the sewer channels & sewer content -- sometimes I am utterly shocked that the monikers, images, & expressions I see from time to time are actually approved, especially when Google/RU-vid/whatever claim to be the paragon of virtue & the impeccable, unbiased determiners of what is right from what is wrong -- they have on their platform(s) with their full blessing), but they are so intent on suppressing the freedom of speech I am entitled to that they would hide information such as mere contact information that could actually not only greatly help people healthwise & otherwise, but may even save some lives from death! I was told the first few months you can experience some hair loss but I started in February so it’s been plenty months. The thyroid np was fine but hair fallout snd weigh loss still didn’t work. Armour thyroid gave me GI upset and I finally got my doctor to out my on this medication. I’m praying for relief. This hair fall out, and weight loss resistance is killing me. Does levothyroxine sodium affect sodium levels in the body? I was recently diagnosed with congestive heart failure and am on 4 medications for heart. I also adhere to a low-salt diet. I completely stopped my levothyroxine sodium 50mcg two months ago while I was ill with RSV. Then the CHF diagnosis which was why I was so ill with RSV and fluid buildup. Hi Dr. Childs...I had my right thyroid removed approximately three years ago due to a low-grade cancer. I told the doctors I wanted to go on thyroid medication immediately instead of waiting to see if my other thyroid would be enough to keep my TSH in check. I have Hypothyroidism and my TSH tests are always normal. I have been totally miserable ever since my partial thyroid was removed. I have been on the lowest grade of Levothyroxine and Liothyronine and Armour, then Synthroid with Liothyronine, and now Tirosint with Liothyronine. I don't know what else to do. I have been SO miserable just trying to get through each day for three years and am at the point that I wish God would take me out of my life. Is there ANYTHING else that I could possibly try. Please help me. PLEASE!

Hi, newly diagnosed with hashimotos for about a month now and On Levothyroxine 100mcg. For the past week I have lost a SIGNIFICANT amount of hair and had facial and scalp itching and some rashes on my face. I do suffer from allergies although my endocrinologist which is an ARNP with a doctorate stated that she doesn’t think it’s the Levothyroxine. I asked her for the tirosint today and she was hesitant to give it to me for some reason. My TSH levels were over 100 last month and are now back to normal levels although I still feel horrible. My endocrinologist also refused to do a reverse T3 because she said it was an Old Test and I had a hard time getting her to test for T3 and T4; she said it was pointless because my TSH was normal but I got her to make an appointment to test for T3 and T4. She completely brushed off the hair loss and said to wait a few months or to stop taking the Levothyroxine and see what happens. it’s so frustrating and depressing. Any advice? Hopefully the switch to tirosint works and my symptoms may just be a reaction to the inactive ingredients in the Levothyroxine.

I have been on tirosint for almost over a year and I have 8 side effects according to the package that are driving me crazy. I hate taking medication and I would love to not be on it but my doctor is basically asking me what I want to do. I follow a gluten free diet and work out daily (elliptical and HIIT) and still not able to loose weight. I used to be on armour with a functional medication doctor but had to find a new one due to insurance. The second I switched, I was switched to Tirosint. However, my previous doctor used to do more checks and I’m almost for certain I have a T3 issue. My new doctor only ever checks my tsh and t4. I have emailed requesting additional tests, as well as other medications you mentioned in your other video about the best weight loss meds to see what she says. Just curious if you have any advice using tirosint and not getting enough t3. I was on Levo and Tirosint now and I’m having the same side effects but I don’t think it’s the medication, I think it’s a conversion to t3 my body is having..
