My biggest takeaway was the idea of treating my CASP learning and practice as a business. Like you said, we need to practice as we would perform. And when I do the requirements takeaway videos in the training program, I am speaking how I imagine I would during an interview. What I found is that when I do these videos, I can feel my mastery developing. Doing flash cards, reading the requirements, and reciting the material had nowhere near the same effects as doing the takeaway videos. Seeing my learning as a business reminds me of when I was a Financial Advisor (sales) with Prudential. I would ensure that before I ever spoke to my potential clients I would have mastered product and process knowledge. And when I would speak with the client, I would qualify whether the client would be a good fit for what we had. It was coming from a powerful mindset, like you mentioned, where I know we have something of value and I have the responsibility of vetting whether or not we can bring positive change to the potential client given our products and services. Thanks, Boyd!

I needed this Monday when I had my first recruiter reach out about a PCI ISA role Hybrid 3 days onsite, asked me all the questions I felt I answered perfectly but when it got to salary I said a number instead of asking what is the budget for the role🤦🏾so the recruiter said I was too expensive even though the ticket was 10k off and was putting candidates with ISA/QSA cert first so i also got put on the back burner, i took it as a learning experience given i wasn't chasing the job anyway it came to me. With all the tools BC has given and me following the plan the recruiters/jobs are coming to me so there'll be more 💪🏾💯

@@PhillipBurnettJr cool! Are you still going through it and applying or you completed the mentorship already? I have a call today with his team but not sure what to expect budget wise and what field to get into was thinking of PSC since I’ve done my research on that and others

@@Jesusharo-ns1rl I am blessed to have completed the CASP program in April and received an invitation to the internship program. I am not applying to jobs at all I've had my resume on LinkedIn for maybe a month and I've gotten several calls from recruiters about different roles such as Risk management specialist, PCI ISA, or Sr Security analyst and at the moment I'm still learning on the job skills so I'm in no rush for the role and congratulations on your call how did it go?!

Solid advice man. thank you very much. my biggest takeaway from this, is that, I should start recognizing my value, and I should embrace my skillset and offer it to businesses, and surely, I need to work on how to present myself much better for them to feel like a loss should they want to overlook me. So I think this would definitely be advantageous for me to get a good job with good pay and at the same time, provide solid value to the company and everyone is happy.

Nice, I feel confidence is a huge factor in the interview process. Also knowing your value or your price range. I always recommend people google interview questions on the job or discipline they are applying too. That way he / she can formulate answers based on topics and it allow for older experiences to come to the top w/o the pressure. What do you think?

Boyd, I have been out of work for the 9 almost 10 months. Yes I have had at least 7 interviews. A couple of them I thought I did well, the j next one I just ran off at the mouth like a fool. And I never do that why I did it that day I don’t know, wam still kicking myself. T he e recruitor never contacted me on either of the interviews both were with the same company. Then I had an interview at the same company where I had been displaced twice, and nothing. All I have been getting is we decided to go with a more qualified, or we decided to move in a different direction, last you will not be moving to the next level of the hiring process. Sorry this is last I got this one 5/15/24, you are not a good fit for the company. All of the say at the end Good luck on your job search. Really please advise

Hey Boyd, aren't you contradicting yourself: always going on about how school and certifications only prepare you for getting a job. Now here you are talking about JOB interviews. And doesn't your training really prepare people for jobs? Appreciate a response.

I believe you're misunderstanding my philosophy. What I teach is the monetization of skills to achieve financial security and practicing on other people's dime (getting a job to learn the business, not to be an employee) to develop your craft before starting your own company.
