I wanted to make a negative comment but I won’t, what I see here is REALITY vs what we’re use to seeing with the glamorous looks. Looks like he catered to his own style and as unattractive to us as it may seem, it’s pretty cool to see someone regular put one of these together without the glitz and glamour. Pretty cool

The outside was nice. The inside looks like a 1960's designer came in and up scaled the place to 70's decor. 😯

My family lived in two of these in 1949 in Dover, Florida. Dad and 6 children. As long as we were with our DADDY THAT WAS ALL THAT MATTERED!

I really enjoy reading the comments from experienced professionals who understand the process and the budget of such a project so well! Learning a lot from the home-based professionals!

I stayed here with a group of friends not too long ago and it was amazing; cool, and comfortable. The place was very well insulated and nicely tucked under trees in nature’s shade. It had a fire pit in the back, river access, a dock for fishing. Containers were set up in away that created a terrace on second level from all directions. Great set up. Very well thought out. Nice container home on an awesome property.

I accidentally rewatched this and got reminded on how VERY expandable container housing is. Adding the two containers as bunk rooms would make that top deck into a HUGE party space! And a stairway container could also give it access to a second deck or solar farm. ... I want an update!

Nice plot of land, I love the river view! Unfortunately I didn't like the layout of this container home, but I did enjoy imagining what changes I would make to it.

I see you are now adding content outside of what you’ve built. As a general contractor myself, you have been very helpful to me in building my shipping container home in the mountains of North Carolina. One of the things it was most helpful was your cost breakdown. Although there are many people going around doing reviews of different shipping container homes, I think you could own a particular niche. Combining your building expertise with showing the container home, you could have an appendix that breaks down the details as you see them. For example, they must’ve strengthened the containers underneath the cantilevered container. As well as the cantilevered container itself. Breaking down those details and explaining to people that these are not Legos, would be the most helpful in a way that few people can replicate without your experience as a general contractor. I hope to one day have you do a review of what I build.

Dallas TX has a beautiful container house. LUXURY with maybe 8 or 9 containers, 3 stories. You might not realize it’s a container house but I watched it be built. It’s on Peavy Rd, just east of Buckner. I’m looking for photos

I would live in this. No kids or guest bedroom. I would make that room my TV and reading room. I make me happy now. I’m 74. Young people don’t realize how pretty extra money can be in your pocket. Designers have been painting cement floors for years. How easy the cleanup can be. Why u need a huge kitchen and DR. No one cooks like grandma did. This is what it’s like to get rid of all that wasted space we used to have and kept the doors closed to. 30yr morgage no more. Yes I wish I could have done this early in marriage.

I like the container homes and thing ...but I don’t like the lay out of this one ...it doesn’t flow ...the fridge is in front of the door ...the kitchen is the living room ...it’s just too chaotic for me

I love the way the containers were built up but there is ( too many ) changes I would make on the inside....both floors !!

Another smart thing he did. He didn't cut through the floor for the staircase. The walls and roof are thin 14 gauge, the floor is C or I beams. Absolute night mare to cut that. IMHO the best staircase would be installed in a container dropped on its end, vertically.

I rather have three containers on the bottom, than one single on the top. Single level is just easier and less expensive. However, if I decide to get more containers, it would most likely be the top. Than I have time to figure out how this would work out. Plus with the extra space on the bottom, would make things easier once the new containers come in. But the current design force you to make major adjustments, which will greatly impact you living space as the construction occurs.

Would you recommend pressure-washing/steaming cleaning a used shipping container before using it for home construction? Would that take care of hazardous materials that my have been transported in it? What do you think?

I heard you should never sand the existing floors of shipping containers. They are treated with pesticides and all kinds of nasty chemicals so sanding that is going to bring up all that nasty stuff. Brush and put your flooring on top no?

Family LOVE....... from NZ🇳🇿 The reason for the allowance of no structural bracing on above container is appears the lower containers are two 20ft joined.. Creating a massive steel central wall taking the cantilevered weight with the allusion of being 40ft long.. The cantilevered container doesn't appear to be supported at both ends which is where ALL the structural support is required.. The floor requires sealing because containers are fumigated with toxic insecticides that leach into old wood permanently.. A layer of chipboard with corked joints that's been polyurethane or vinyl would solve this heath problem.. Being a rental should be more of a concern because others heath is being affected.. getting sued.. ignorance is no excuse.. Polystyrene covered sheets with lite-crete is something to look into great insight into sealing wet floor areas interior/exterior.. By leaving the 200mm steel siding above creating bulk head is often overlooked & existing 600mm wall not cut back flash..
