I see from the comments that the obvious solution to cleaning the bags would have been to turn them inside out. Yep, I missed that! The cleaning part was an afterthought and I should have tried that. Thank you for pointing that out!

Arent they just too tight to turn them inside out? Also, would they be strong enough on the side parts to not get ripped apart?

I posted a few tips in a separate post, and personally I wouldn’t turn them inside out as the seam can get quite delicate and can/will tear. Allowing them to cool them down and the cheese does come out really easily.

The bag holder is particularly good for transferring cereal into gallon sized bags. We also use ours when making Chex Mix at the holidays; it's super easy to dump it from the casserole pan into ziplocs for gifting.

I’ve been using toaster bags for years, (unbuttered) so I have a few tips. 1- I find it’s always best to do two rounds on low, especially if you’re using cheddar which doesn’t melt as quickly as mozzarella or Gouda. It stops the bread from burning as much too. 2- It’s easier to remove the cheese when the cheese is cold and you just pick it out. 3- while they last longer when hand-washed, but they do go in the dishwasher. Just open them up and spread the opening across a few tines. I find it handy to weigh it down with a saucepan lid or tongs, especially on the low rack. 3: guess what I use to dry them out after washing. Yes, that very same bag prop! I raise the arms to hold washed bags (including plastic food bags) open upside down to dry!

Actually, I live I florida, hurricane central. Lots of people, myself included, fill gallon freezer bags with water and freeze them when prepping for a storm. They serve as ice packs (I've been without power for days) and as they melt as fresh drinking water. I know you were only joking but it sure would be easier with one of those

My mom actually bought one of those bag holders a few years ago. It's been great, especially for separating food into different bags, or for storing food in bags to store in the fridge. Although it's cheap, it really is a great product. Also, the arms fold down to store flat in a drawer and save space.

That total rack is honestly a really good thing to have. I reckon the bag holder doesnt need a suction cup because the weight of whatever you're pouring into the bag rests directly on the base and helps to hold it down.

I just want to say I agree with James' review of the Bag Holder. After seeing this review, I purchased a 3-pack of similar ones (this had arms that folded flat). My use case is taking 7# bags of ice out of their store bag and putting the ice into two 1 gallon zip-to-close bags to store in my home freezer. Prior to purchase, I would break up the store bag, with a meat tenderizer, open it, reach inside, pull out some ice, and put it into the baggie, repeat until full. Repeat for the second bag. Long & often messy. But, better than storing the much taller store bag with a bag clamp or something else. I now put a gallon bag in the bag holder, break up the store bag the same way as before, cut the top of the store bag off, and literally pour the ice from the store bag into the baggie. When the first one is full, I pop it out of the holder, put the second one in, and fill it up. Two 1 gallon bags is perfect for 7# of ice. Done in about 1 minute, and typically only a few cubes spill out. I couldn't be happier! Thanks James!

The toaster bags are a life saver for celiacs. I can toast at work without cross contamination. The second gadget helps me to cook a bunch of meal portions at once and pop them into bags easily (but I use reusable bags, not ziploc and it works awesome). I will now buy the third. Personally, I was thinking that wouldn't most dishwashers have racks that could be used? Depends on the dishwasher, but a lot of them have to have some design on the rack(s) that would enable you to place them in an open fashion that would let water inside it. Though I wonder about the water pressure possibly dislodging it. Maybe clothespins to hold them in place or something?

However I could see my self giving up on the toaster bags , it's just easier to clean a griddle pan or a skillet than get into the bag and get the gooey stuff out. But first before I totally just tossed them away or stored them in a drawer someplace., I'd probably try to use them as furniture sliders or maybe some type of non stick drawer glides they look fairly slippery..

I know what you mean about having to clean something one way or the other, as you mentioned with the bags v. the griddle. This type of dilemma is the reason why I don't use spoon rests. Sure, you can dunk the spoonrest under water and throw it in the dishwasher to clean it, but, you gotta clean the stove or counters off anyway after cooking, and so a quick little dab with my dishes brush on the mess from the spoonrest, and everting comes off easy peasy. It's the minimalist, easy route. That's why I like shows like yours, because you help us to figure out what works and what doesn't work, what the best choices are, so we can live our best lives. Thank you.

The bag holders are something I resisted getting for nigh on a decade because I typically just grabbed a mixing bowl of appropriate size and used it to hold up the kitchen storage bags. Then we had to move to a less than ideal kitchen after having our first kid, so I relented. I have to say, they are definitely legitimately helpful, especially to someone Iike me who has nerve damage in their arms and hands. Thumbs up, would recommend. The bags from the first segment of the video just make me miss MicroCrisp toasting paper, to be perfectly honest.

I bought a set of six baggie holders last year on Amazon for the price you paid for two. I bought them because I use a vacuum sealer and sous vide cooker and they are indispensable in holding up the vacuum bags while I fill them up. Yes, they will not lock a vacuum bag in place like a ziplock bag, but I have not had a problem with them dislodging either. I agree on the Total Rack. It is a bit pricey, but it is very useful in many ways.

In defense of the cost of the bags, if you go to some little stand and buy a grilled cheese sandwich, you might pay $4 or $5. if you are at work and want to fix a hot lunch, these are gold, even at $1 a bag. In your kitchen at home, it doesn’t really add up. But away from home you could even carry your own toaster and a Jackery if you’re a delivery driver or driving for Uber/Lyft. Compared to eating on the road, $1 a bag is just over your sales tax in most places. Let’s not forget time spent standing in line somewhere. These are solid gold.

I would wipe the cheese out with a paper towel first before I submerged the toaster bag into water. One of the RU-vidrs I watch uses the bag holders. She loves them. Thanks for yet another great review video 👍

When you put the toaster bag on the griddle, I thought that was the dumbest thing I ever had seen. But, you said the word "pizza" and my mind immediately went to one piece of pizza in the toaster! Genius! Toasted cheese, pizza, s'mores...if I think about it long enough I'm sure I can imagine many things that I would love to heat up in the toaster.

Vacuum sealer bags! That baggie holder would be great for holding the baggies I make with my vacuum FoodSaver. Sometimes it’s a pain to hold the bag and put in the food in it before vac-sealing. I’m definitely going to look for one.

I don’t understand the purpose for the toaster bags. Seems like a lot of work for a grilled cheese.

@@jenniferschauer5759 you do have a very good point though, i would never use one of these for a grilled cheese. clean up is annoying (tried it once, not worth it, im lazy)

Thanks for the reviews. The toaster bags remind me of when I used to wrap bread and cheese in tin foil and use the clothes iron on it to toast it. We weren't allowed any cooking appliances, except a hot pot, in the college dorm when I was a kid. Can you do a review of Emeril Lagasse's pasta maker? It looks good but I wonder how well it works. Also, Ronco used to make one that looks very similar.

Fabulous video!!! I laughed at the toaster bags until I used them. They are wonderful! Kinda pricey right but totally worth it, imho! That bag holder.....I NEED that in my life along with that amazing multi-use, multipurpose rack. That is so cool! I’d use all 3 of these products and especially enjoyed this video. Very helpful and practical, as always! Thank you for all your hard work and another fantastic, informative and useful review!!! Happy Holidays!!

Those bags look like the same material as me nonstick sheets for my dehydrator trays

They are! I use similar sheets for baking trays, cake tins, and as a non-stick liner for the rack/trivet in my ninja Foodi, which is handy for pastry etc. Those I wash in the dishwasher, but the bags usually by hand.

FINALLY a contender for my boiled omelets! Toaster bags are on my list for sure. Surely if they can handle a griddle, boiling water should be a breeze, they look tall enough to remain above water level too.

When I saw the Total Rack sliding mechanism this is the same thought I had - "Great concept... poor execution. After a good dishwashing, the excess rinse water never comes out of the tubes. This can’t be sanitary" The tubes slide into one another so if the smaller tubes have grease or get wet inside the larger tube it's never going to come out again.

Two thoughts, first you could use spray butter on your grilled cheese that would soak into the bread and be less grabby when sliding into your bags. My second thought is for cleaning of the bags. You could slide the open side down in the dishwasher over a couple if the divider thingies and clip them with clothespins so they stay put and open. Just an idea though I've never tried it, lol. As for the bag holders, I love to watch youtuber Six Sisters Stuff which is a great instant pot cooking channel. They use these clips to keep open their freezer bags for prepping a bunch of freezer meals. They seem to love them and they show them being a life saver.

I have two of the total racks and use them often. Fully extended you can even cool an entire half sheet pan on them. Maybe not a commercial full sheet pan but half works.
