***IMPORTANT: The CoQ10 I have in this video is unfortunately flavored, and I completely missed that somehow. I would instead get the CoQ10 by Thorne or Pure.

How many drops for cq10 u give to your dog ?

I’m so happy I caught on before it was too late. My dogs are 8&10 and have been fed kibble their whole lives. They were overweight, have joint issues and were lethargic. I switched them seamlessly to half raw/half cooked and supplements. I do give them a lot more veggies than is recommended but so just feel like they need the natural vitamins right now. In just a month they’ve each lost weight and are energetic again. Thankfully I’ve never been one to use flea and tick prevention and they are perfectly fine without it. I add a tsp of vinegar to their food every day and that seems to do the trick.

They don't live longer now -- they live shorter lives now! Our pets, when I was a kid, lived to their 20's. Pet Kibble foods came into play & now we're lucky to get 10 to 14 years out of my breeds.

Thank you for this video! We live in Northern part of Croatia where there is soooo many ticks all year around, esp.now (many dogs without chemical anti-tick treatment die from pyroplasmosis/babesiosis) so we have to give them something.. now, from March to May/June they are on Bravecto (which I was very skeptical about for legitimate reasons) and for the rest of the year, dogs are on Frontline combo spot-on ampoule .. Again, I hate that my dogs had to be on that but between getting them sick or dying, I choose life. So thank you for educating me, I will definitely buy milk thistle. As your milk thistle's origin is from Croatia :) you can imagine that we have A LOT of milk thistle products here (didn't even know it's so popular). We have whole seeds (called sjemenke sikavice) that I can grinde, we have it in drops (kapi sikavice), we have it in capsules, granulate... since milk thistle seeds being the cheapest option and because I don't know how to dose drops, I'll start with them. Since my dogs are all year around on anti-tick protection (once a year Bravecto, then Frontline Combo once a month), should I give them therapeutic dose or general wellness one? The dosage you mentioned were mg/lb PER DAY? Once again, thank you so much for everything you teach us! ❤

Thank you for this great video! I transitioned my pups to raw 3~ months ago because of you! :) For vitamin C, are you able to advise if it's safe to give vit C powder (100% ascorbic acid) instead of the Acerola you recommended? I ask because I have it on hand already that I take myself. If I dip my finger in it, that would be about a 250mg dose for my dogs.
@PawsofPrey
@PawsofPrey Год назад
Aww, you're so welcome! I am happy to hear that :) and yes it's ok to give, just give a small amount and slowly increase the dose to whatever your pet needs. Vitamin C can cause diarrhea if given too much or too quickly. And if your pet has a history of calcium oxalates in the urine, I wouldn't give vitamin C in this case

Everyone will say something different! I don't have a specific age recommendation when it comes to supplements like this. I do recommend feeding species appropriate foods and adding moisture to the diet as often as you can, though! I give milk thistle after vaccines and flea and tick prevention (if ever given), and I give acerola cherry and CoQ10 1, maybe 2 weeks out of the month.

I've only ever given my dogs flea & tick medicine when they've had fleas, I cannot fathom putting them on it long-term. I always felt weird about it, since it always seemed unnecessary, but I had no clue it caused death to over a thousand pets. I'll definitely have to check these out if we ever have to give them flea meds again!

Your awesome! Your videos break things down in a way that really helps me to understand, and encourages me to do more research.. I mean just the other day I spent hours researching every essential vitamin and mineral that dogs need in their diet and what’s a natural food source they can get it from and checked off each one to make sure my dogs needs are 110% taken care of. I’ve got my dogs off of flea and tick but I’m still using heartworm preventative.. what can I use In place of that? I give them rosemary in their food and in their body wash, and diasamous earth in their fur before any hikes, all for flea and tick but I’m not sure what to do to prevent heartworm, because I don’t want them taking it… I do regularly give them pumkin seeds which is a natural dewormer and they are on raw diets, any tips would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you for all the work you do! You have changed the lives of a lot of dogs for the better! (:
@nogames8982
@nogames8982 Год назад
First, you have to determine if you live in a place where there actually is a risk for heartworm. Many veterinarians, no matter where they are, really push to get the heartworm medication. But why? If you don't live where there's a substantial risk of your dog, getting heartworm, then don't bother with the medication.
@PawsofPrey
@PawsofPrey Год назад
Thank you so much! That's great it encourages you to research more on your own :) And to be honest I still use heartworm prevention every other month during the summer because I live in a heartworm prone area, and I just don't want to risk it. A lot of the natural flea and tick prevention also repels mosquitos, but I just can't bring myself to fully trust it when it comes to heartworms! So that's when I give milk thistle to heal his body after giving it.
@prosp6070
@prosp6070 Год назад
Take this with a grain of salt but according to another holistic vet I was watching an interview with on another channel, dogs can kill heart worms with their immune system but, they need to actually have one in order to do so. I'm not sure of the science behind it, she referenced a study but I don't remember what it was.

The flea and tick issue is bothersome to me. I'm assuming the FDA still considers it 'relatively safe' because its a small sample size experiencing extreme side effects and the vast majority do perfectly fine on them. . .sort of like how many human medications have horrible side effects in extreme cases but are still in daily use. My concern is that I have an FIV+ kitty and an infected flea/tick could literally kill him. At the moment he's strictly indoor because he does NOT like going out on a harness, but I want him to at least be able to enjoy the eventual catio. I'm also a little concerned about switching him a raw diet despite the fact I really really want to get our boys on one when we're able. I know safe handling and good sourcing brings the risk to virtually 0 and plenty of FIV+ kitties do fine. . .and he's in ridiculously robust health (he shook off what we think was an upper respirtory infection faster than the our other FIV- did). Just can't help but worry about our dapper little tabby.
@Islamic_nectar
@Islamic_nectar Год назад
I don't have an answer to your main question but something caught my eye in your comment. Firstly, a great amount of respect to you for doing what you can to help your felines. Even though raw food prepared and sourced properly holds little risk. I would advise against doing that unless your vet says otherwise. What is recommended though is a homemade cooked diet. This would eliminate those risks of a raw diet (though little risk is present, it is increased with immuno compromised feline) and allow for a much better diet than commercial. 😊
@hallaloth3112
@hallaloth3112 Год назад
@@Islamic_nectar Fairly certain my vet won't even consider a raw diet in general. They FORGOT he had FIV last time we took him in and recommended Hills/Royal Canine despite the fact they are on a decent mid-grade wet already. I also, honestly, just don't have the time to manage two different diets between two different cats. And I'd much rather prepare a months worth of raw over having to cook some variation of ground every few days.
@nogames8982
@nogames8982 11 месяцев назад
Go ahead and switch to a raw diet. Know your vet won't like it. But that's too bad. For natural flea and tick prevention are use springtime supplement powder. It is called bugger off.

Hi Paws of Prey! Could you possibly do a review on Dr. Harveys. A RU-vidr Rachel Fusaro recommended on her channel, but I dont feel like it is a completely balanced meal. Thank you :)
@dalebailey754
@dalebailey754 3 месяца назад
I feed Dr. Harvey’s Raw Vibrance and Paradigm. It’s also on Dr. Judy Morgan’s list of approved foods to feed she posts to her Facebook page. It’s possibly not 100% balanced, but here’s the deal. Neither is kibble even though the bag says it is. To try to balance more effectively, rotate many food sources. Not only do I use 2 Dr. Harvey products, I add organ meat, eggs, and smelt to it, and I also purchase a pre-made raw frozen food that has ingredients not found in Dr. Harvey’s. There is a base mix from 4-Leaf Rover that uses dehydrated beef liver, and the base mix EZ Complete uses chicken liver. With Dr. Harvey’s, you do have to add your organ source as well as your muscle meat.
