Like that you guys do this type of video. I shared this with a friend who loves Tequila and especially Casa Azul. I hope to lure him away from the dark side.
I picked up the Arette yesterday from a local spot ($21 for 750ml) and you guys aren't lying. While not as rich as my current favorite San Matias Extra Anejo, it's VERY tasty and you can't beat the price.
Thanks guys for educating me. I started my tequila journey last year. I decided to treat myself to a “fine sipping tequila”and fell prey to the hype, purchasing a bottle of Clase Azul. It wasn’t until I purchased my second bottle of tequila (Fortaleza Repo), that I realized that the Clase Azul was crap and I had wasted my money. After watching your videos, I have since purchased Arette repo, G4 blanco and Ocho repo…..all of them fantastic. Next on my list is Ocho añejo, and I’m giving serious thoughts to Tears of Llorna, although I don’t think I’ve refined my palate enough yet to truly appreciate a spirit of that caliber…
I was expecting Dillon to pull out a bottle of Fortaleza. The juice, the hand made bottle and the hype have truly propelled this brand to Clase Azul status !
El Tequlino Gran Reserve reposdao is my favorite, and it has 15% Anjeo. I got the plaintium blanco, gran reserves reposado and the anjeo. I got the Arette, one with the horse and it ok for lots of company, but El Tequlino is by far excellent! I am surprised you all never reviewed those besides the blanco I believe. Still yet to try the reposado and anjeo/extra anjeo by El Tesoro, but the blanco is good but El Tequileno is better in my opinion for I tested them both. Thank for recommendation of the sipping glasses, I got those from Amazon using you alls link, even though shipping was slightly delayed vs prime but rather help the cause.
First time watching you guys. I love it!! Thanks for the reviews.....I thought you guys were about to do a fake freeze frame like Leslie Nelson on Police Squad! 7:39 mark
I bought that exact bottle of clase Azul just for the looks of the bottle would I buy another NO I like sipping on my 1800 crystalino mix with cointreau and lime.
I can credit clase azul for a beautiful bottle and being a gateway tequila for most people. The marketing via bottle was genius its just unfortunate the juice inside is not great. Terralta Reposado, Volans, Kazcanes, El Luchador, Uno dos tres, yeyo etc are all superior by a long shot to azul
Funny thing is, if your friends know you like tequila, you invariably end up with shelves of these from every birthday, BBQ and Christmas party. Fun episode. Cheers.
Ive had clase azul, it was ok.. bottle def is beautiful and it has the bell 🔔 but im dying for my local total wine here in florida to get more tequila ocho repo, the blanco i tried before based on it winning the blind tasting and its my favorite blanco right now for sure
For me, It’s horrible, doesn’t even taste like tequila. It just tastes watered down and tastes like additives/chemicals… when I first started drinking tequila, I would’ve said suavecito is the best purely due to its “smooth” profile, but after discovering additive-free tequilas, I’ll never look back to unnaturally smooth tequilas… And this still blows my mind, once you start tasting the nuances of what fine, real tequila is versus additive-altered “tequilas”, you come to appreciate the flavors of the agave plant that tequila comes from, and begin to value the agave-flavor forwardness of real, finely made tequilas. The agave plant that tequila is made from should naturally be at the forefront of your tasting experience, if you’re drinking additive-free tequila.. otherwise, something is off. Suavecito brings the taste of Alcohol to the front - likely due to the additives they use and the shortcuts they can, and likely do, take and therefore can hide by using said additives. Suavecito simply covers up natural tequila flavors with the agave nectar they proudly use, which is an additive, and makes me believe they shouldn’t even call what they make “tequila.” Suavecito is like giving your friend a glass of water with some Kool-Aid mix in it and telling him it’s water 😂 And the friends says this is the sweetest water I’ve had yet! (That’s not freaking water anymore 😂😂😂) Know what I mean? Anyway, enjoy the tequila journey! It’s fun!
I just purchased both the Ocho and Arette, I just opened the ocho and AZUL taste way better!!! I really like you guys I was really hoping you knew what you were talking about. Ocho is smooth but Azul is more tasty.
Are there any brands, across any category, who spend that much on their bottle only to fill it with spirit that could stand on its own? (edit: other than maybe Compass Box?)
i didnt know the clase azul had additives. it was the first tequilas i had that let me know that there are good tequilas out there. im not a fan of the basic tequilas profile so i enjoy tequilas that have more going on to balance out the base profile
I still shock people when I tell them that I’ve never drank Clase Azul. They ask me why and I say, “because it’s expensive AF and it’s chock full of additives”. If you want to be a true tequila lover, you have to be as true to tradition as you can without breaking the bank. And one thing to remember is that in Mexico, Agave is a sacred plant so that’s why it’s good to be true to tradition.
@xiucoatl82 yeah, take that with a grain of salt, because when I want to drink tequila, I go for the blancos in order to get away from any wood influence. Straight agave baby!
Don’t hate but don’t like these reviews these guys are too old and the tequila world is changing! The times they live in are past and the followers that like that type of tequila are almost gone! It’s the new generation weather we like it or not I like that they trying to stay relevant along with there old ass tequilas
